    Nice system. One thing to note - panels shoved on a flat roof obviously do alot less well in direct sun but actually do really well in cloud and rain as the sun is diffused though the cloud to give a general light from above. Most people don't actually really need the 1pm peak power but they do need the non peak cloudy power at all other times so this is a legit strategy if trying to power loads in your house all day every day. Also - and this is the main benefit - saves a ton of hassle and money on mounting hardware and is super DIY friendly. Just my tip to any wannabe flat roof DIYers forget brainstorming how to angle them - shove them all up plug them all in in 1 day and enjoy the power.

      Cool, thanks. Any recommandations on a "stand-off" for parallel lying modules? Are there any benefits for passive cooling through that or something similar?

      @@MatureFister Maybe not an ansvear to Your question, but my father made a dual system where the old system is based on copper pipes and blackened aluminium sheets, which is for hotwater and central heater supplement only (that one is mounted on a woodenrack on the wall in the south), then the idea is to use the electric panels for what is described in this video, including if the size of the system allows it, hooking up a heatpump, if it does not, one can get away with just a small panel and say a 12 or 24V pump and it will be enough to power up a woodfired centralhater from spring to autumn even here this far up in the north, it has worked for almost 30 years now on my father farmhouse so i think it does prove the concept.

      Flat panel layout is most effective in tropical/equatorial region where the sun is not tilted much every month

    • @esuil
      @esuil Рік тому +5

      @@sihamhamda47 It is not just about angle. Like OP indicated, this is effective even in non-equatorial regions, if your region is cloudy often. For future reference: butyl-tape is extremely useful stuff for sealing. It remains flexible, and you can knead it like play-doh. It's used in boats/marine applications to keep salt water out of screws that go through a deck, windows sealed etc. Also very cheap!
    Its like ducttape 2.0 - and an excellent "cover" for small electronics that have an LED you don't want to see :)

    Hi I'm a flat roofer and figured I should mention something. I can't tell for certain just looking at this video, but I'm guessing your current roof is sbs modified bitumen or app modified bitumen, and the ashpalt you're melting and "patching" with is oxidized asphalt. Mixing different asphalts will be problematic as adhesion usually is sub optimal, I work with SBS mod-bit and we can only make temporary patches on APP mod-bit or Oxidized asphalt roofs as the chemicals will repel eachother after some time and the patch will simply not last. I'm worried you'll run into the same issue if in fact you used a different asphalt mix compared to the roof. You already said it's an experiment and obviously it's a diy solution, just figured I should tell you to be prepared to patch the penetrations again in a year or so, or atleast inspect it on a yearly basis as it most likely would spring a leak in a few years.

    Something I was taught is that in winter, during particularly cold but sunny days, solar panels can actually output _more_ than their rated voltage due to the cold increasing their efficiency. This can damage the inverter. So maybe upsize your system a bit if you live somewhere where that might be a concern.

    Yeah, the red tape involved to install a grid tie solar installation in Germany is mind boggling. The power company's even managed to get you for tax evasion if you put your power in the grid without proper permits and income tax. The 4 big energy company's who pretty much rule the EU got us here. In Spain is even a planed tax on solar panels, so it could be worse. XD

      @fkiesel9442 Рік тому +4

      A lot of this got changed during the last year. Just some examples:
      -VAT is now 0% for PV components.
      -Up to 30kWp no income tax for the profits and no registration as business necessary. (Liebhaberei)
      -No VAT tax declaration, if you choose the Kleinunternehmerregelung (small business regulation).
      -No more limits for delivery to the grid (70% rule was canceled)
      -Higher compensation for the energy delivered to the grid.
      -No building permit required for normal roof-top PV systems (this is not new, but still worth mentioning)
      Grid tied PV systems have to be registered at the Marktstammdatenregister and with the grid operator. The grid operator has strict time limits on how long the processing of the application can take.
