2024 has some exiting stuff coming! This is just the start! I got a tour of the merch collection coming, some new videos here and there and...SOMETHING ELSE!! Stay tuned ;)
Hey yall, owner of a paperback copy of lost legends here. Im so glad this small nugget of my childhood coming back out in a way i never knew. Im so glad i could help shed some light on this subject and put this mystery to rest. About the book not being in cataloges, i remember that detail. I was walking through the bookfair when my eyes landed on the gravity falls books. They were tucked away in a less busy part of the library (where the fair was held). I remember being supprised because i thought that a gravity falls book being in the fair would be more shown. I remember the fact that it wasnt in the catalouge, so it caught me off gaurd when i saw it. I didnt have the money to buy the book on me when i first saw it due to already spending my money on books i saw in the cataloge. But i still grabbed it, and made use a feature the fair had. They would allow you to reserve an item and they would store your item with you name on it in a shelf behind the desk. I ran to the cashier and asked to reserve the book. They put it on the shelf and i ran to my mom telling her about how i found a book about my favorite show. The next day we returned to the fair and my mom payed for the book. I was so excited getting my hands on what felt like (and ended up being) this hidden gem. I read it over and over, admiring every detail. But as i grew older, the book ended up rotting away on a shelf in my closet. Until i saw the community post. This weird little book a got as a kid turned out to be pretty rare, and also why it was so hidden at my fair. I remember being confused about why the book was only avilible that year, as yhe next year, the book was gone from the fair. Im glad i got my hands on it and am happy to have helped at least in some way with helping solve this mystery Thank you all for being amazing, and have a wonderful day!
A couple of curious facts: •The text on the back cover of the paperback LL is very similar to the description that Planeta De Libros leaked almost a month before LL officially came out. •In most translations (only excepting the Spanish one from Latin America) the idea of making Weirmageddon Cinestory hardcover was taken up.
To be honest, scholastic is really sounding like one of those gravity falls entities that just defies the laws of everything! How fitting for it to sell gravity falls books that shouldn't even exist!
“There is only hardcover copoies of this book and certainly not a paperback version, right?” **Slaps book onto the table** “As it turns out, there is indeed a paperback version of Lost Legends.”
I don’t believe it was only sold at Scholastic Book Fairs. I was around 7 in 2019, and I remember going to Menards with my father, and I saw paperback copies of Lost Legends on the shelf.
3:36 THERE I AM GARY THERE I AM Lol, but seriously this whole thing was crazy to delve into. And to think I almost walked away from buying it, good thing that obsession mindset kicked in last second!
SAME LIKE HUH ?????? IVE HAD THE PAPERBACK FOR YEARS I GENUINELY HAD NO IDEA THERE EVEN WAS A HARDCOVER VERSION I THOUGHT THE PAPERBACK VERSION WAS STANDARD
About the Slenderman but, don’t think it’s just the copyright portion for the change. Gotta remember some years ago, Slenderman also influenced a couple of kids to assault their friend (whom miraculously survived) and they were arrested for it. Because of that controversy, that could also be another possibility for the change to avoid another incident like that or dodge it. As much as Slenderman is now practically a pop culture icon in horror these days, he’s still looked down upon just for that incident alone by parents alone.
I actually own an original paperback copy! I got it at a scholastic book fair like everyone else. Imagine my surprise to see this video talking about how it shouldn't exist haha.
the weirdmageddon cinestory was in my middle school library in 8th grade lmao. paperback I think. also, I think cinestory is supposed to be pronounced sin-es-tory as a portmanteau of cinema and story.
Very cool to see the it up close! Also I’m surprised it was made a year plus a month after the first release date. I would thought the paper back would sell like 6 months later. Awesome video!
Okay- i have the Weirdmageddon Cinestory, but i had NO idea it was an oddity. It makes it feel special- im glad i have it. Oh and yeah its from a BookFair
16:39 “Maybe there will be a paperback copy of that book too and then in 2025, there will be a new generation of gravity falls fans finding a copy of the Book of Bill for sale when the Scholastic Book Fair is at their school.” Also the Book of Bill - “Travels to dimensions meant for OLDER readers.” Disney books rating - Adult (I don’t think this will show up at an elementary school book fair 😂)
I've heard of weirder things. There was this one time a hentai movie ended up in a video store I used to go to as a kid which was VERY weird because they NEVER stock adult movies. At the time I didn't know what it was and assumed it was just another cartoon like all the others but no it wasn't; and if the teller hadn't figured out what it was I would have gotten a shock if I'd gone home with it. She was like, "I didn't know we stocked these..." I think it was either a mix up somewhere during shipping or someone was trying to mentally scar small children with an inappropriate prank. Well, that was how I (and my Grandma) learned that not all cartoons are meant for kids...😅
i haven't watched the full video yet but i think i actually have the paperback version? i don't have it with me right now since i moved a few months ago and it's in a box so i'm not 100% sure but when i can i'll check. if it helps i ordered it from amazon
owner of a paperback copy here, i was gifted it by my mom and sister sometime in 2019 and i’m pretty sure they got it from a book fair? idk might have to ask
I remember buying a paperback copy of the gn in 2019 in Argentina what is weird is that in the copyright say that was made in 2018 and doesn't have the bill draw
Fuffling goals is all life is Me in general be like LOL. His video was very interesting. I'd love to see do more kinds of fun gravity falls vids like this. This video was for surely interesting. I like when the fandom gets together to solve a crazy mystery. Makes us truly feel like a Dipper
@@ThatGFFAN ah, so do you think the book of bill’s Barnes and noble exclusive edition will just have more behind the scenes stuff or other extra content? And what does the behind the scenes even look like exactly?
ok wait, my copy is paper back and i got it from Barnes and Noble in around 2019. I am 100% sure it was Barnes and Noble. what the fuck. edit: nvm, i read a comment about someone talking about getting it at the bookfair and i remember now. i too got it at the bookfair, i had hidden it in under a shelf in order to make sure i could get it.

Wait. I might own it??? I need to look for it but I am very sure it was paperback. I’ll edit this once I find it EDIT!!!!!! I FOUND IT! It’s paperback!! Also pretty sure I got it at a book fair, specifically a scholastic book fair. It’s in… an okay condition. It’s kinda warped/bent and the cover is dusty, but still, I didn’t know it was rare. I also found Marcy’s journal in the process, which I lost a while ago. I own a lot of the gravity falls books, I own journal 3, lost legends, I think my brother has the one that’s like don’t color this book or something?, and dippers guide to mystery (and nonstop fun) I’m gonna get the new one when it comes out too!! :) Another edit: I just watched the rest and yes, scholastic book fair is a billion percent where I got it from. I remember buying it, I don’t remember what grade though Last edit: I was very wrong. My brother got it from target the day it came out. He said he got it from Barnes and noble at first but I think he would’ve gotten the exclusive version so we came up with the conclusion he got it from target.
The point wasn't that this book cannot exist and more so that all evidence back in the day made it seem like it wasn't going to be. The video was a process of learning about how Scholastic makes these and in turn, finding out that paperback lost legends did indeed exist.
I’d guess the slender man censoring happened because of the bad press involving slender man and children (kids murdered someone saying that they did it for slender man). Someone in PR probably thought it would be a bad look to have slender man in a book sold at schools/in future releases.

I can confirm, I have a few paperback Diary of a wimpy kid books from the schoolastic book fair. They definitely have a history of doing this.
