The guy who did my clutch tuning on my RZR told me to also let my car idle for 5-10 minutes after heating up the belt in any way to allow it to cool down without just killing the motor. My belts have been lasting way longer even with the tuning.
Awesome! We are so stoked to have had the opportunity to work with @KMS Performance and @MTS Off-Road!!! Car feels amazing, looking forward to Pismo in a few days!!!
Nice, i have the turbo rr with 195 hp, i just added exhaust and strait pipe to the exhaust. I immediately noticed a huge difference, had to of easily thrown it over 200hp. I want to do the clutch like this, id be movin!
Thank you very much sir! There was so much awesome information to cover - glad you enjoyed! And still so much more to come, just glad we got to be a part of it!
Great Stuff. I actually already have a well known competitors clutch kit but I am intrigued by the floating secondary spring. Can one purchase just the spring or remove the tangs on the spring I have? Thanks
This video is a couple of years old. That clutch was a great setup but we no longer run it. We currently buy all of our parts from evolution powersports great products, great r&d.
Clutching can be effective on all models. We now run Evo ECU tuning and clutching on our cars. When upping HP its definitely needed, but can be helpful on a stock car our.
They have improved the clutch over time for sure. But we still end up tuning them for the HP that we tune the ECU at. We can never leave good enough alone :)
I'm barely getting into the SxS world and am also planning on getting a X3 Max in the future and I'm curious. Why did Can-Am make their clutch spring with the hooks wound up as opposed to how that new clutch spring you guys installed? I'd love to have more HP but what's the reasoning on not allowing the helix to free float? Thanks!
It's a matter of wether or not you want to keep applying attention on the belt on the secondary or not. That's a good question for a clutch tuner. However our clutch tunings are happening as we add more horsepower
Will this get rid of the low RPM chatter that makes your rear-end feel like it's going to fall out..... and then goes away at higher speeds........I got a brand new 2021 RC.turbo RR and it just started doing it at 20 miles....... the whole rear-end shacks and is clunking at low speeds
@@DandiOffroad the KRX doesn't do it..... it's my first Can Am and brand new and it felt like the rear end was going to fall out at 20 miles..... didn't do it when I first got it so kinda scared me
The clutch kit and the tune have been amazing. If I am not mistaken we were at about 1,200 Miles when it was installed, we are at about 2,000 now, trouble free and hauls the mail. Video coming out this weekend is a newer clutch setup that Kelly just came out with for duneing.
Sorry for the delayed response. That was a KMS product we now run Evo products. If you're interested in the KMS clutch you would have to reach out to them they are in Phoenix Arizona.
I'm in toronto Canada and have the 900 h.o x3 so I need all the power I can get. How can I get this clutch work done without hauling the machine down there.
The KMS setup we had at that time was great. However we decided to try a little more HP and for our own R and D as well as Video went through the stages of EVO tune available for our car. We are now at a level of HP that KMS just didn't offer at the time. We now run all EVO and use the clutching that match the ECU tune that they provide. Keep in mind that EVO spends tons of ours on R and D so when they offer a tune and the clutching to match, well.
I have a base model can am x3. So if i do your clutch tune first and then decide to get the machine up to 195 hp, will I have to spend more money to tune the clutch again?
I wish I could answer that. I have seen a 2017 put down 17 more HP after a clutch kit install but I can't speak for the car you are asking about. I can tell you for sure that clutching can make a big difference. But in this case are are changing the HP output so we needed to match the clutching with that change
The explanation about the secondary seems like a lot of contradiction/BS. There's not enough spring pressure stock to keep the belt from slipping, but there's so much that it won't let the belt slip on deceleration. The new spring lets the belt slip on deceleration, but without reducing engine braking because the helix is keeping the belt from slipping...which is what the stock spring supposedly does, which is supposedly bad.
Thanks for commenting, that was a couple of years ago and that is a conversation best had with KMS, we just made the video. We have gone to Evo stage5 and other clutch weights and springs at this point. But I can say that clutch setup did work quite well.
I must apologize for confusing you with my editing, although he did mention that this would include some engine modifications. However, I did leave out what type of modifications obviously leading you to believe that the horse power numbers he mentioned would be achieved with additional boost or increased compression ratio. However, that is not the case so as you obviously would understand, that much power with other types of modifications would not necessarily lead to “DETONATION on 91” as you mentioned. More of that video to come so thank you so much for being a part of the Dandi Offroad Adventure and subscribing, commenting, and watching. We love the interaction with our Dandi Family.
You are full of shit, a torsion spring is far better then a compression spring, the problem is the stock helix is to steep. the torsion spring keeps the rollers on the helix, the compression does not, and that`s why people break rollers. strange your the only guy that changes out the torsion spring. KWI and ibexx, 2 of the best clutching shops do not change the spring to a compression. All you had to do is change the helix for 150 dollars.
Kms performance it is!!!!!! Awesome video the guy really knows what he’s doing !!

Yeah I'm bad about that, I forget. I try to remember that but
0:16 0:18 hey guys can this clutch kit for a 2011 Polaris RZR 800s model
Very interesting and great explanation going to add to the list of many other things to do to the new Max before next season

Great job with Kelly ! I’m booking

Clutching goes a long ways. We currently run the Evo weights and springs. They're good about matching a clutch tune to the ECU tuning you have
Clutch adjustment and get 17 HP. Wow, that is awesome. Sign me up
Right?! Crazy!!!
Is there a link leading to this kit to purchase?
Very informative, great vid

I would say give KMS a call, they are SUPER helpful and would be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Great HP gain, you should balance the primary. Mine was 12 grams off on the outside of the primary and 7 grams off on the inside.
Thank you, and thanks for commenting. I'll definitely look into that, good info.
What company balances X3 clutches??

Good video im trying to buy it but web page is not working, do you know if they have a different web page?

Wow great video. Any idea if this is effective on 21 RR? Or is the stock RR clutch different?
Thanks!

You got all that done@ mts?
Yes, that was a couple of years ago, the car is completely different now
Did brp address clutch issues on later models? I have a 2021 double R w 32”s and it has no problems moving

You would need to reach out to KMS, we are no longer associated
I’m interested in the dyno clutch service, where is your shop located? I’m in AZ.
This video is from 3 years ago. We now use Evo products. You would need to contact KMS Performance for any of their products
Man I didn’t get the clutch manufacture on this and want to order this for sure and will put my RRS over 200hp😁💪
Its in there.. LOL.. but we have never ran over 200 HP with this clutch.. its not setup for that
Ive got a 21 x3 rc turbo rr. Would it need these clutch mods?
Most machines can benefit form a clutch tune, but it kind of depends on how you are using it.
Any shop 8n California that does this type of work?
Question; why still use two oem weights.
He mentions in the video at 10:57 the reason for the particular weights used in this particular tune

I have not seen a side by side yet that doesn't have that chatter. Definitely not, but we are at 3500 miles with that chatter and still going

@@DandiOffroad Awe yeah I know..... that's why I traded...... but when and if they come out with a turbo....... it will be a game changer
I can't wait until they release that one
How has this clutch kit and tune been? Is everything still working good?

Right?! We are super stoked with our results - we WORKED THIS CAR OVER in the Pismo dunes today and WOW! That's all we both keep saying, lol 😁😎🏁
How do I go about purchasing the 395.00 kit
Sorry for the delayed response. That was a KMS product we now run Evo products. If you're interested in the KMS clutch you would have to reach out to them they are in Phoenix Arizona.
We can get Evo products, we do MTS shock tunes, and we can also offer rugged radio products. You can always reach us at 559-797-1986

I don't think they have an installer near you. Are you just looking for a kit or do you need someone to install?
@@DandiOffroad with some patience and time I guess I could install the kit myself
Or if you have any local mechanics that can work on the clutches at all it's just a matter of replacing weights and springs.
What the ball park hp gain for a base model x3 turbo with a tune and no intercooler etc. thanks
I'm not sure but I am sure Kelly or Steph can answer that. www.kmsperformance.com/
So the $395 kit is the same no matter the tire size or trail?
I am sure it you are running giant tires or something out of the norm there might be a change
Great informative video. Did Kelly do any clutch adjustments after the install or is that in an upcoming video?
The 91 octane power package is a complete package including the clutch kit to match the ecu tune.
do you get the same gains out of a 2020 X3
I just spoke with Kelly and it looks like they got the same gains,, good stuff
Dandi, is it possible to post a link to the kit for $395 i think it was? Ty
