Great mix Bart! I just started recording the band that I run sound for and bring it into Studio One. I’ve always said it starts at the source. If you have a tight band that are dynamic you can really hear the difference in the recording! I’ve learn a lot from Stacy and your vids, keep up the great work!
Thank you Rick! I am old enough to remember thinking how cool it was just a get a main l/r cassette recording off the console.....we are definitely spoiled now.
Congratulations on being an active sound crew! I saw (and heard) you handle the FX on Rebel Yell song! Most sound guys don't bother! I take an active approach to the bands I do sound for and adjust FX for every song! Great job!
Thanks for watching and going back through our library of videos...we are pretty happy with the amount of information we are starting to get out there!
Another great video. You are both amazing! I focused on your S1 recording again. I’m trying to understand why using S1 is chosen over the more simple Capture 3. Bart, I tried using S1 in my live gig, but haven’t yet mastered the channel routing. I use the same mixer, SL32r series 3. So, thank you for the screen shots! I’ll keep watching, love your show!!!!
Hi guys, really love your channel! Do you have any tips on using digital mixers/iPads/laptops out in the sun? I just brought mine outside and once soundcheck started I could see anything! Night time was awesome though. Thanks for all you do!
Good question...not a good answer as it can be just down right difficult to manage outdoors....so you just need your combat boots on: 1. Make sure your device stays charged. 2. Brightness to 100% 3. UC Surface has a "light" setting which does improve visibility. 4. Be familiar with the software and try to do as much configuring out of sun. 5. Be prepared for the gig and not rushed. 6. Wear a hat. If you notice with our gigs, by the time we are on that device, most of the work was already done and now it's faders and tweaking.

I must prefer Audix D6. Sounds more natural than Shure Beta. Plus you can more easily lay it down inside the kick drum on the pillow without need for a stand.
Ahhhh...still like the Beta 52, but are currently back with the Sennheiser e901 more because it's quick and we don't need to worry about a stand...It sounds good too, but still prefer the Beta 52!
Hi Bart, great sounding mix there. Please can you highlight setting up the band in ears. Did they bring their own monitor rig and ear pieces, or did you supply everything. Do you supply the in ear pieces, and how do you keep the hygiene factor in check. Many thanks, your videos are very informative. Alex
This particular band provides their own in ear rig. We do have our own in ear system, and when we use them, the band needs to provide their own ear pieces, therefore limiting the hygiene factor. The one issue we have run into with members providing their own is if they have not invested in ear buds and are using “wired phone headphones”- (the ones with a built in mic) these do not work for this application!
Nicely done 👍. After I saw your videos and bought 4 cdl12p. Quick question? The speakers clipped on mine early, that ever happened to yours? Maybe cdl12 is different than the cdl12p
Well, we hope you like them overall, but yes, they do seem to be conservative on clipping. I don't tend to worry about it much. Please check this video out on our observations: ua-cam.com/video/hWlIgaCDRaY/v-deo.html
Thanks for reaching out! The CDL (not P series), actually use Worx Control, which is similar to SL Room Control. The CDL cabinets have and an Ethernet port on the back of the cabinets, so to use Worx control, you plug them into your network and they are on the network just like a computer and the software will discover them.
We had a really nice outdoor gig last week at my own hometown Harley-Davidson dealership (only 1 1/2 miles away) only to be rained-out! ⛈🫤 Our next job is a 1 1/2 hr drive…🥱😴 Nice gig you had there.

Great video Bart!!! Love when you guys work with this band. But I do have to ask. The drum solo where they all come on stage, how long have they been doing that? Someone there has to be a 311 fan lol. Good job. They sound great!

Occasionally the bands will request the recordings, but most go to turn to digital dust! Appreciate your inquiry, but without explicit permission, we will hold on to them!
Wow Bart, your vocal delay work on Rebel Yell was amazing. How much do you have the stereo offset, or whatever it is? I really like how it gets out of the way of the middle of the stereo field. You can hear the separation so it sounds massive but doesn't get in the way of the dry vocal or step on it at ALL. Great sound!
You can steal exactly what I am using right off the video! Say like @ 14:29! Appreciate you noticing...it's what we use for live, but it did come across well in the recording.
