I use a 2000 watt generator. It’s all about technique and skill. You don’t have to run everything at the same time. Honestly, a lot of detailers simply have too much equipment.
@@cdalton9553 1700 starting watts is even less running watts and most steamers will require at least 1750+ watts running. You'd be maxing it out though. Just get a 3000+
Good breakdown. Only thing to add is the starting or surge watts needed to turn a unit on is just as or even more important than running watts. Let’s say the running watts needed for your air comp is 1500. Cool so you buy the predator 3500. Come to find out it takes 4500 peak watts to start the damn thing.
I go with the detail geeks process: extract then steam. Make note of anything you need to come back to with the steamer. It’s not perfect but it’s practical.

Dude, I think what you should mention that when you’re first starting it’s only you and you can’t run or don’t need to run all things at the same time… I would consider the Westinghouse 3700 inverter generator… Great video though. @@10CPS Honestly I stopped doing mobile detailing as I am a woodworker. I now have an inverter. And no I never got a complain from anyone, I think most people understand you’re just doing a job. As an electrician, we know that anything with a heating element will always pull more amperage. It just takes more power to generate heat. You could probably run the vacuum at the same time as the power washer, and or polishers etc.

Thank you bro! I just ran into an issue where a client only had one outlet available and my steamer kept popping it 😂 what should have took me an hour took 3… plus there was a ton of bees 🐝 getting a compressor
The 3500 trend is straight up dumb. But a trend is a trend until ppl wise up. I understand watts and consumption. My first was a 5300 watts and its the minimum that is needed for everything I run with my team.
I have the new 9500 predator inverter and I can run the hp60 mytee , steamer and vac . Or steamer vac and air compressor . Hope that helps anyone wondering if they want to get the 9500 . I'll upgrade to honda version when possible
How’s that 9500 holding up after 2 years. I’m still stuck on if I should pull the trigger due to reliability issues and the hassle of returning until getting the reliable one
@Avvmedia I actually got a new one due to the warranty going out . But the last one was still strong and had no problems . I used it every day and had 3k hours on it when i turned it in. For business, it's worth it because of the warranty. Basically, I pay 800 every 2 years to have a new one. And it's as simple of going in store and trading it . I had a Honda with under 1k hours, and the seals went bad in it. To have the warranty work on the Honda they had to send it through home depot which took them over a month. They changed the oil and said it was fine . That's when I did the change to harbor freight . I know Hondas are good, and maybe mine was defective but the hassle was what did it for me
Have the same predator 2000 and I bought a water pump and my power surges because I’m about 5 running watts over 1600 so it’s back to the drawing board 🤦🏻♂️ might have to get a 12v pump and small battery
So the 5,000 watt predator generator won't run everything. Because I need to get me a new generator and I was just wondering. If the 5000 watt will do it. I'll be running pressure washer water pump Shop-Vac and a steamer and air compressor. I was looking at that inverter 5,000 Watts ultra quiet.
Buddy of mine is a Generac tech, his go to rig is a predator. According to him, they’re made to the same quality as Honda. So, fellow detailers, proceed with confidence.
Good morning from Nigeria, I like the way you choose topics for us, ever since I started following you on UA-cam I have learnt a lot, Am ready to kick start. Can you help me with list of tools that I need, So as to start making pouches, Thanks.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I would love to invest in a generator at some point and am always curious as to which one to buy that can handle all the needs.
Quick question, I have been shopping around for a garage keeper policy to protect me as a detailer and I've been finding rates that basically break down to anywhere from 80 to $120 a month. Do you have a company that you recommend that has proven to be worthwhile and if so can you give me the name of the company to call and see if I can get a quote? Thanks a million for your help as I have become addicted to your videos in a very good way! LOL.
2000 watts is nothing . 3500 watts also isn’t enough if your using it for “job/work” projects . Save yourself the hassle or having to upgrade later down the road . I wouldn’t get anything under 6500 watts . 6000 continuous watts . I have a welder generator . I do mobile welding . Slightly getting into mobile pressure washing . You can run chop saws, MiG welders, electrical pressure washers depending on the size . People running things at the same time is 4 out of 10 . I run jobs with 3 guys with me sometimes and we never run stuff at the same time. Now there are occasions . But ya . Just some insight from another guy. Good luck guys
Besides (it's petty) but you're stealing power with someone else's outlet unless it's a client. Not a good look upsetting apartment/office complexes you plan n returning to and gaining more business.
