Love my twins. Can't beat the power. Those accert engines are c18 with smaller components. Plus it has whole steel pistons instead of the aluminum bottom pistons that the 6nz have. If you're pulling weight leave at it is just get a 18 speed on it and make out the power on it.

I have had some truckers complain about that when they had twins on a stock build that their piston rings would wipe out due to the higher boost. Pretty funny to hear that stuff lol

    Always say "keep it simple"
Trucking is about profitability and survival. The old school trucks, including the pre emission electronic engines, are pretty simple to work on once you understand them.
Having said that, I would upgrade, not convert and add bypass filtration.

I wouldn't be admitting that you deleted the emissions on your truck. You may get a visit from some clown with the EPA. My 97 freightliner has 355,000 on it. Series 60 Detroit. We were going to buy a new truck and decided not to because of the emissions garbage. Love your trucks.

Yea..... understand where you are coming from ..... I spoke to nys inspection about the 2008-2010 trucks and they seem to let those go.... they don’t want you replacing or deleting the newer ones ..... we have new emission trucks and we don’t plan to delete them.

The MXS Acert engine is not a "twin turbo" setup, it's Duel turbo because the top turbo is a high pressure turbo and not the same as the lower one. But yeah, I would convert it to a single turbo setup and have far less problems.

well ima cummins guy, mainly cause i can fox em on the side of the road... so on the engine dyno with my N14 460 re-rated to a 535 all my CPL will let me do, i’ll have to change injectors and remove some shims for timing to set it at 605 genset rate. i don’t drive otr anymore the trucks registered private not for hire.... trailers a huge toy hauler for the race car, i do diesel gensets and marine propulsion.... big crap, but the N14 has a Holset HT60... great turbo alotta lag do to the big turbine housing and no wastegate, (works great wide open but ehhh mid range and it falls on its face .... so having a shop full of garrett turbochargers looked at some compressor and turbine a/r maps and ended up with a garrett 4202 ... tried a 4702 but a little laggy at low rpm... so the 4202 had the smaller turbine housing and wheel and still the same 102mm compressor blade like the 4702. 1800rpm is its happy spot .... any cats i do 34 series 1500 rpm is max torque 2100 max hp so they seem to like 16-1700 to get the most hp-tq combo.... lug em at 1500 or below under full load breaks the crank between 5 & 6 from harmonics ( we do some engines that go over sees and they run 50hrz generators (1500 rpm) we are 60hz (1800) rpm in america ✌🏻

Sell all your emission trucks and stay with the good ol trucks. Why add more expenses to your operation when you aren’t benefiting from the emissions trucks? Unless it’s a requirement for part of your fleet to be, like California. Stay with a good simple setup. Cat motor (6nz or 3406) with a single turbo setup across the board. Easier on the shop as well. Everything just makes sense for your operation to be the same and has been working for you for a long time seems like. Good luck 👍

i know this is an old video but i just wanted to agree with you on the old Kenworth flatdash cause its my favorite as well 👍 the biggest thing i dont like about the newer dashes is how high they are and to they're kinda cheap & they use a lot of plastic now days but i will say i do like the layout of the 2006 & newer dash with the gauges in the top half of the dash & the switches on the bottom half of the dash & some time i'd like to get new dash panels made for my 1995 W900B & kinda lay it out like the 2006 & newer dash

Yeah these newer trucks have lots of issues. We run WA to Alaska and the classics stay running, and the newer stuff, those guys are always breaking down and there goes all your fuel savings. I’d rather feed it more fuel but have it be reliable then to waste time and stress with breakdowns.
Both are tax write offs but which route would you prefer ?

Disable the Accert stuff. Do 16:1 pistons. Keep the twins. I drive a 6nz single turbo and a Accert twin. Identical engine builds. Marine cam. Etc. Both trucks same setup. The factory twins keep the pyro the lowest. I compare in same route…same setup…same gears…etc. twins keep cool. Even compared to Blaylock switchblade turbo in 6nz, or pdi turbo on 6nz. The twin out pulls and temps stay lowest.
