Oh that brings back such happy food memories - I spent 2 weeks in Budapest once and absolutely fell in love with the food! I had scrambled eggs with tasty things added for breakfast almost every morning - I'm going to have to try to track down some Hungarian dried sausage. I still make homemade nokedli from a little recipe book I got at the Buda Castle museum at least every second week (and dream of langos, the absolute food of the gods! - I thought Scotland was good at deep frying before, but that was something else).

Just watching it again as I fell asleep first try. Not your fault Grace. You are ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS- just super late night getting to sleep (3 AM) and waking early (5 AM) catching up with me. The first breakfast just seems like bruschetta to me and chopping the tomato instead of rubbing it would give even more texture and, as you have told us, you are a texture gal.
You can also have pão de Deus with ham and cheese! At least I always order it like that when I (used to) go to a bakery/café. If you add butter inside as well it's 👌
Hi Grace We either use a tomatoe which its ripe so plenty slides onto the bread or we grate the whole tomatoe and make a paste to put on top. We definitely use lots of tomatoe and lots of extravirgen olive oil, both are key. Its our most favourite breakfast for us Spaniards. Its is more common to have it without the garlic, but some people prefer it with, when we go to the cafe there is normally two bottles of extra virgen olive oil one with garlic inside and one without so you pick the one you prefer. Love your channel.
You could have gone for chocolate con churros for Spain: hot chocolate so thick you can almost stand the spoon up in it, with fried strips of batter ( kind of like doughnut strips) coated in caster sugar that you dunk in the hot chocolate. Soooo good!
You can put the tomate in the blender until it becomes a paste and spread itr onto your toast. In the south of Spain where I'm from we also add cured ham on top. Yummy!!!
Grace I’ve been watching you for a while and your videos are such a pocket of joy in my day, I really do feel like it’s a safe space on the internet here with you, I literally love your videos so much!,! Xx
As a Spaniard I was so proud to see you making "pa amb tomàquet/pan con tomate"! For some extra "tomatoness", you might wanna consider crushing the tomato in order to create a sauce. This is the preferred method in Southern Spain; most cafés also serve it that way since you make the most of the tomato and none of it goes to waste.
For pan con tomate you can grate the tomato and mix it with olive oil and salt before putting it on the toast! One of my favorite breakfast discoveries from studying abroad.
I live in Spain and have that for breakfast all the time, best thing to do is grate the tomato on the toast so then you get loads of it! High quality extra virgin olive oil and sea salt over the top is just the best!
I'm Hungarian and you are kinda right, each household makes pogácsa slightly different. Also, Hungarian cottage cheese has smaller 'clusters' so the traditional dough is usually very smooth and not as crumbly.
Spanish girl here! Just wanted to say you did so well with spanish breakfast. And actually it's more a catalan breakfast. Catalan is from Catalonia, a region in Spain (were Barcelona is), where we speak another language. Pan con tomate (pa amb tomàquet in catalan) is actually what MOST people have for breakfast in Catalonia. Spanish people use to mash the tomato WHICH IS NOT OK. I'm so happy and relieved that you rubbed it instead! Also we have special tomatoes here which they have a very thin skin and they're a lot more ripe so it's easier to rub them on the bread :) PS: New sub here and I'm really enjoying your channel!
Very interesting, I love how passionate people are in guarding their regional variation of certain foods. Forgive my ignorance, but how different is Catalan from Spanish? Can a Spanish speaker understand some Catalan or none at all?
@@LOUISE__97 Hi! As a someone who is from Valencia (next to Catalonia) Catalan is different from Spanish but there are some words that are easily the same or very similar! However the magic in all the different languages in our country is that they are all spoken in a very unic way depending on where you live. So for example, I would say I speak valencià (just being this an extremely similar variant of catalan). Also, there are regions like Galicia whose people speak gallego or País Vasco where they speak euskera (a language that is extremely different from spanish as it doesn’t even originate from latin!) I hope this wasn’t too much explanation and that I didn’t make to many mistakes with my spelling hahaha :)
@@LOUISE__97 spanish people can understand a little bit of catalan. some words are identical but that's what happens with all latin languages, we can actually understand each other a little bit. also in catalonia spanish is also our official language :)
Pan con tomate is literally one of my favorite breakfast, I'm not Spanish but been living here for the ñast 5 years and is one of the things that I love from here! Literally you can get pan con tomate, a coffe AND orange juice for 2€ and that's breakfast sorted! I feel you about the amount of tomato if you rob it on the bread, what most people do is grate the tomato, and put it on the bread. I personally like to mix the grated tomato with the oil and salt before putting on the toast but that's just me I think! Hope you try is again this way 💖
Hello! So usually for the Spanish breakfast you made, we would 'grate' the tomato and that makes like a tomato pure that you then salt and put on the toast (you can of course brush the garlic on the toast prior this), then you put a drizzle of EVOO on top and then JAMÓN, and this is such a lovely easy breakfast!
In Czech republic we sometimes make "semolina porridge/pudding" for breakfast, but we are able to eat it as a main course for lunch too. What can I say, we sometimes like sweet lunches. It is topped with cacao powder, melted butter and you can ad honey or sugar to sweeten it. But we mainly (at least I think so) have for breakfast bread or oat porridge or yogurt. And I think some families make pound cake (the round one) on sundays. And there is nothing wrong with pancakes (though again it can be both breakfast and lunch and dinner course for us).
Cottage cheese is a low calorie/high protein and healthy cheese, that doesn't taste of much. It is very popular in Denmark. We eat it on rye bread with tomatoes and avocados or in a salad. It can be quit delicious.
I very common vietnamese breakfast is just sunny side/dippy eggs with a little crusty airy bread. You eat the eggs with some maggi seasoning so it mixes with yolk and you sop it up with the bread. So simple. So good
ln South Africa many of our menus read : Full English breakfast . Eggs , bacon , pork sausage , grilled tomato , maybe mushrooms nestling on the edge of the plate and lashings of toast , butter and marmalade ( or jam for the children ) . Orange juice , halved grapefruits and different cereals next to a large jug of milk and preferably good coffee - not the instant variety we budget conscious use at home , complete the groaning table of delights . Some places do offer baked beans as well , but many South Africans have not embraced the addition of the humble baked bean .This is our family's favourite meal and a must for special occasions .
I love cottage cheese and buy it every week. Sometimes I have it as a salad topping and sometimes topped with fruit. I also blend it up and add to pasta bakes. I actually had some at lunch with tomato, lettuce and peppers.
Hi Grace, I am half Ukrainian and my grandmother made something similar to Pogásca for me, but sweet. Instead of putting the cheese on top, you can mix in some raisins and top it off with a bit of honey or jam when it is done. My favorite breakfast!!
I'm from Portugal and I'm so happy you did our breakfast ahha. Pão de Deus is one of my favorites and I don't love coconut either so that means something!! It's so damn good! The type of breakfast you had it's the usual order when we go to the cafe! Portugal has amazing food, I wish you did a video only with our food! Love you
I grew my own oranges this year - so delicious and special to have that sunshine to eat when it is chilly out. My grandparents were eastern European - we still eat kasha (whole roasted buckwheat groats) for breakfast sometimes. It is very earthy and good with butter or olive oil and salt and pepper and caramelized onions.
fun fact, here in Finland cottage cheese is a super popular source of protein!! for example I know several people who have oatmeal with frozen berries (usually bluebs) and cottage cheese for breakfast! :)
Hi,so for the Spanish Pan con Tomate you're supposed to cut a small slice off the bottom(opposite of the stem) and then get one of those big box graters and grate the cut side until there isn't anything left. The skin won't be grated,it will actually spread on the sides, and all you'll be left with is skin and the top end of the tomato and the tomato itself in the middle of the box grater. Better do it over a bowl,it's less messy that eay. Then put the tomato pulp in a sieve for a couple of minutes with a sprinkle of salt,to let some of the extra water drain out. Then it's actually a preference, you either put the olive oil first on the toasted bread and then the tomato pulp or put it on top or both. Usually the garlic isn't involved. And don't forget the cafe con leche 😉 In your case a hot drink works excellent too.
I’ll have the fry up please with a side of the coconut buns! Great job Grace, everything looked great. I’ll take toast every morning, butter and marmalade, cuppa hot tea too. My fav ♥️
My favourite Thai breakfast was at the morning markets. Deep fried dough balls with sweetened condensed milk drizzled over. A double handful of rambutans or longan fruit. Ate it whenever I could back in 1991 (I was a vegetarian then, not a vegan yet). The folks who ran guest houses usually had rice, fish and condiments for brekky.
I grew up eating cottage cheese and banana. Recently I LOVE mixing it with mashed avocado and EBTB seasoning and putting that on a bagel with soft boiled egg.
So with 'Pan y tomate" there's a Mallorcan version called Pa amb oli, basically the same thing but you want to REALLY smush the tomato into the bread, then with the left over disheveled tomato i cut it up in tiny slices and pop it over the top. then loads of salt and oil, if you're feeling fancy a bit of serano ham over the top. DELICIOUS.
As a Scot its more like a Saturday or Sunday breakfast and square sausage and potato scones are essential my favourite is two potato scones and a fried egg and salt and vinegar and also black pudding is also key but glad you liked it

I'm so happy you liked pão de Deus, and what a good job! They are incredibly popular, and actually a lot of people like them sliced in the middle with a slice of cheese and/or ham.
I love cottage cheese! In the US we have both small & large curd, I like the small (it's a bit drier) with roasted salted sunflower seeds on top & LOTS of fresh cracked black pepper YUMMMM. It's honestly one of my top-tier snax. Alternately sometimes I'll have some cut up strawberries or a handful of bluebs or rasp or all 3 w/a drizzle of honey (it's a very kinda cheesecake-y vibe). Try it! 😊
i have pan con tomate for breakfast literally every day! normally i grate the tomato and season it with olive oil and salt and then spread it on the bread, its so delish! 10/10
I can’t believe your local supermarket didn’t have tattie scones. My bf loves those fried & topped with a fried egg. You can get square sausage sometimes in Costco. I find the lakeside Costco has them normally but unsure if they have them in stock due to COVID. Loved this. I wanna try a few different breakfasts now xx
you did such a good job grace! it’s common for something like rice soup to be wholesome but not too flavorful, so it’s not too heavy in the morning :D but for thai people, it’s very common for us to season food the way we like! we usually have some chili flakes, vinegar, sugar and fish sauce on the side to add freely to our food :) i recommend adding some fried garlic (+ the oil) to take it up a notch!
just to add, the rice soup in the thumbnail is actually another dish called “jok” it’s basically a more boiled down version of rice soup, and minced pork is rolled into balls! we add cilantro, chopped spring onions and chopped (young) ginger on top :) it’s more hearty, so i personally like this one better, and i think it’s more common to have as breakfast as well!
I'm from Hungary and I'm so happy you made pogácsa!!! ☺️❤️ Although I have to say we don't eat them for breakfast.. Cottage cheese is also not the same as túró, which you can't really find outside of Hungary (maybe at an international shop). You can make them instead with sourcream (tejföl) 😊
As a 2nd gen Hungarian I’ve found the closest to turo outside of Hungary is a slightly sourer sour cream. It’s not got the texture, but closer in flavour. Cottage cheese is just not close enough hence the dough was too wet.
so i'm from slovakia, one of the neighbouring countries of Hungary, and we have a 'pagac' as well :) it is made a little bit different here, but the 'pagac' itself HAS to be flaky and crunchy on the outside, but kinda doughy in the middle. tbh it's one of my favorite baked goods!!
For the pan con tomate you usually rub the tomato onto the bread until it's like a pulp and only the skin is left
oh good to know! Thank you for your pearl of wisdom xxxx

Ugh try making túrógombóc in Germany they always fall apart because of the kind of cheese
Grace, for Portugal, you should do the pão de Deus with cheese and ham. It's heaven! ❤️
I have a Portuguese shop next to me and it’s literally my new jam 😂 I go there every day for a new treat!
But Nothing can beat a pastel de nata😂❤️
@@VASIGTravelingLifeinLondon pastel de nata is the O.G. 😂
OMG and TRY IT TOASTED WITH BUTTER its just SO DAMN GOOD!!! *_*
@@inescosta5906 wow having that with the cheese and ham sounds amazing - like that sweetness of the coconut with the salty savory meltiness of the ham and cheese? Mmmmmmmmm
I'm Italian and I've had an version of the Pan com Tomate but with a hardened bagel, then you wet it a bit (with splashes of water), run garlic on it, sprinkle herbs, and squeeze/rub tomato. Delicious!!
this is perfect timing! just got home from my first day back at normal school and im EXHAUSTED, gonna chill with a cuppa tea and enjoy this vid (also this is a 11/10 video idea)
hope everyone who's in school right now is doing okay, it's a draining time in the world so make sure to do something nice for yourself to help recharge :)))
Aww bless you. Relax this evening and recharge. Be kind to yourself x
Just seen your comment,
I didn’t realise Irish schools were not back yet. You are so right it is such a hard time to be at school and the fact that schools are one of the only COVID rules allowed is exhausting. Have a great day and carry on at school because we are all making a difference!
Grace’s videos honestly bring me so so much joy! Thank you for existing and sharing content in this space you wonderful precious little cherub. I love you!
Could you do make a video of making all of your current favourite things that you’ve been loving lately?
Or a video of eating all your favourites for a day (your all time fav brekkie, lunch, dinner dessert) 💖 treat yo self day
I clicked so fast. These are definitely my favourite videos that you make
Just watching it again as I fell asleep first try.
Tesco sell potato scone for the Scottish breakfasts , they are always by the crumpets in the supermarket
I think I'd like the Portuguese breakfast!!! The coconut buns, the fresh oj, the ham and cheese croissant (veganised) 🤤😋
You can also have pão de Deus with ham and cheese! At least I always order it like that when I (used to) go to a bakery/café. If you add butter inside as well it's 👌
I’ve been binge watching this channel for a week. It’s the wholesome content I need amidst this crazy world .
Hi Grace
We either use a tomatoe which its ripe so plenty slides onto the bread or we grate the whole tomatoe and make a paste to put on top.
What I love about Grace is how passionate she is about her videos and food. I really love how much effort you put in! Wishing you all the success 💕
Grace seems like she could be the celebrity chef who is way more charismatic and entertaining than the celebrity she works for Xxx
Xx
Grace, if you ever get your hands on a potato scone it will change your life. Better than hash browns!!
I think i will have to make them!
Do it! They’re so worth it. Fried nice and crispy, yum
I ALWAYS WANNA EAT WHEN I WATCH UR VIDS, THE FOOD LOOKS SO GOOD!!
Thank you for your videos, i always watch them while eating, so i dont have to eat alone. Love you xx
As a Spaniard I was so proud to see you making "pa amb tomàquet/pan con tomate"! For some extra "tomatoness", you might wanna consider crushing the tomato in order to create a sauce. This is the preferred method in Southern Spain; most cafés also serve it that way since you make the most of the tomato and none of it goes to waste.
ok I am trying the coconut buns THEY LOOK INSANE
YESS! I am from Portugal and I can tell you it's one of my favorites and I don't even love coconut
It's called "Pão de Deus", it means "God's Bread"
For pan con tomate you can grate the tomato and mix it with olive oil and salt before putting it on the toast! One of my favorite breakfast discoveries from studying abroad.
your videos are just so genuine and fun. i can just binge watch your videos😭😭
i actually just had a whole tub of cottage cheese just before watching this so yes, those sales are probably by me looool
Hahaha I also love cottage cheese!!
It’s so light and and versatile in a way
I am from US and our cottage cheese container is like twice the size of that. I love the stuff! Savory or sweet it is all good.
Grace in a huge fan of you trying foods from all over the world!!!!! Some of your best work imo
Love being interrupted by a grackle notification un the middle of another grackle vlog 👏 she spoils us!
Also we have special tomatoes here which they have a very thin skin and they're a lot more ripe so it's easier to rub them on the bread :)
PS: New sub here and I'm really enjoying your channel!
Mmm I lived in Barcelona while at uni studying Spanish and Catalan and loved pa amb tomàquet 🍅🍞
Also, there are regions like Galicia whose people speak gallego or País Vasco where they speak euskera (a language that is extremely different from spanish as it doesn’t even originate from latin!)
I hope this wasn’t too much explanation and that I didn’t make to many mistakes with my spelling hahaha :)
@@Fireinthesky67 that's true!
@@LOUISE__97 spanish people can understand a little bit of catalan. some words are identical but that's what happens with all latin languages, we can actually understand each other a little bit. also in catalonia spanish is also our official language :)
Hi Grace! As the Spanish tomato-eater that I am, I must say I always leave the slices of tomatoes on the bread and it just takes it to another level!!
This was such a fun video idea. I had the Spanish dish while traveling in Barcelona and it brought me right back.
you woke up super early to cook your parents a full cooked breakfast
Cottage cheese is a low calorie/high protein and healthy cheese, that doesn't taste of much. It is very popular in Denmark. We eat it on rye bread with tomatoes and avocados or in a salad. It can be quit delicious.
Ohhh will have to try on some bread!
I love it 🙌
I very common vietnamese breakfast is just sunny side/dippy eggs with a little crusty airy bread. You eat the eggs with some maggi seasoning so it mixes with yolk and you sop it up with the bread. So simple. So good
ln South Africa many of our menus read : Full English breakfast . Eggs , bacon , pork sausage , grilled tomato , maybe mushrooms nestling on the edge of the plate and lashings of toast , butter and
marmalade ( or jam for the children ) .
Absolutely love your videos Grack !!!
Grace, Iceland sell Lorne sausage! Had no idea it was Scottish. Love these videos, thankyou! 😌
Always love your content Grace!!! Was buzzing to see you tried a Scottish breakfast🤤 You’ve got to try some black pudding and tattie scones next time!
Spaniard here: I don’t rub the tomato, I shred it on the cheese shredder then put it on the toast 😊
fun fact, here in Finland cottage cheese is a super popular source of protein!! for example I know several people who have oatmeal with frozen berries (usually bluebs) and cottage cheese for breakfast!
And don't forget the cafe con leche 😉
In your case a hot drink works excellent too.
when i make pan con tomate i use a box grater and then scoop that on to the bread like a sauce. very good!
DELICIOUS.
my mum semi regularly bought cottage cheese, my fauvourite was cottage cheese with pineapple. good on toast.
I love it!
That sounds so 70s 😂 Not a bad shout, though, I won't lie.
@@sentienttapioca5409 my mum grew up in the 70's so could be where she got it from!
Cottage cheese with sliced canned peaches or fresh tomatoes.
As a Scot its more like a Saturday or Sunday breakfast and square sausage and potato scones are essential my favourite is two potato scones and a fried egg and salt and vinegar and also black pudding is also key but glad you liked it
Hi grace, I love you and I just wanted to say thank you, you’ve gave me motivation to bake more, which is what I love doing, and I’ve applied for junior bake off, so fingers crossed I get through to the auditions, that would be amazing, I love you lots 💗💗💗
I'm from Spain and the usual breakfast is toast with olive oil (and you can put caster sugar on top of it!!). The one with tomatoes is more common in Cataluña!!
I'm so happy you liked pão de Deus, and what a good job! They are incredibly popular, and actually a lot of people like them sliced in the middle with a slice of cheese and/or ham.
Just gonna say I LOVE COTTAGE CHEESE - I literally buy two tubs every week, quality stuff right there
I love cottage cheese!
Cottage cheese with pineapple on toast is one of the breakfasts in my rotation. Love it
Love cottage cheese 🙌🙌🙌
