Any idea how to disconnect the egr wire clamp from the intake manifold? It seems to be a screw zip tie, not sure how to take it off. At 4:14 you touch this cable
great videos bud, i have a 2010 2.5tdci ranger myself of which i have had a leaking injector seal, after fixing that i had egr issues, clogged up with muck no surprise there, but watching your vids has helped a lot, i just had to work a little slower as my engine layout is the opposite to yours, uk specs battery is driver side along with egr valve, passenger side is air filter egr cooler and turbo.
Hi, Firstly thanks for all your efforts with the great informative videos! I would really appreciate some advice, I am in Thailand and bought a 2014 ranger wildtrack 2.2 120,000km. The ford dealership just links to their laptop and tells me there's no problem. Symptons: - lose of power when starting to accelerate in low gears - twice i have been approaching/going up a steep hill changed down to 2nd had no power and then down to 1st and also had no power and the vehicles stalled - slightly rough idling (only a little) and also a shudder when turning off the engine From everything I have seen online I am thinking I need to clean and blank off the EGR cooler, but I would really really appreciate some professional advice! Thanks so much in advance!
Good straightforward informative video. One bit of advice for anyone doing this is test your heater plugs while the manifold is off. Save having to do this all again if you find you have a faulty one.
The EGR valve has an electrical connection that is wired through an attachment physically joining the manifold. How did you get this attachment off from the manifold ?
Hey there. Great video. I had a question. This happened when I fuel up the tank. I started the car and it sounded like it made a chocking sound before strating. Even the lights on the dashboard flickered. I removed the key from the ignition and tried again and it started one time. Do you know what could have caused that because it happened twice on separate days. Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
@@TheInsightDistrict thank you so much. Turns out it was the battery that wasn't fastened properly. I tightened the terminals and battery holder. Problem solved. Thank you again
Hi, love this video, can you please point out the glow plugs and maybe do a video on how to change them as a part 3, I was told you have to take the inlet manifold off. thanks again.
How long approx should it take a motor mechanic to remove the egr and manifold, clean the manifold , put back together with a new egr ? Ford ranger 2016 3.2 lt motor
Its hard to say, because I clean it somewhat regularly I haven't let it build up to the point that it restricts air flow, but I'm sure it there was a blockage and it was cleaned, there would be a noticeable difference and the engine would breather better
Hey mate, thanks for the great vids, I’ve got a Ranger also and your detailed instructions are much appreciated. You said you replaced the intake manifold gaskets - where did you get yours and how much? Thanks
Awesome videos. Found loads of gems on your channel and you're basically the only one covering this stuff, let alone in any detail! Question: I need to check the glow plugs, do you think they're removable whilst leaving the manifold attached? It's difficult to see on camera whether or not they'd be removable or if they're obstructed by the manifold itself. Thanks!
nice video.. big help bro. last time i failed to do primer with my fuel filter . you didn't mention priming in your past video about how to change fuel filter. but i did fix it . but took 3 hours but still thanks
Yea they would stop most of the carbon blocking it, but just have to be aware of the emission laws in your area as egr deletes are usually illegal to perform
I’ve been waiting for this video and I’m not disappointed, a great job. At what point or distance would you need to do a carbon clean of the intake system? When and how do you clean the EGR?
i dont think that there is a set rule on when you should clean your intake system, but probably a good indicator is if the car is starting to get a little sluggish and using a bit more fuel then what it normally would. As for the egr, i woud be cleaning the valve when you clean the intake, and just give the return pipe a wipe out when you do
@@TheInsightDistrict I’ve gotta 16 Ranger with 56000k no catch can yet and I’m thinking I might take a look inside the intake and clean it all up then wack a decent catch can and suck it. Thanks for sharing your path with these things mate.👍🍺🇦🇺
Hey mate. Great channel. I've just done everything in your 2 part video and have replaced the glow plugs at the same time, have reinstated everything but truck won't fore over. You have any trouble shooting tips on what It could possibly be? Keep up the good work
Awesome video, my PX XL 3.2L has done 83K and I am thinking of doing this diy clean. Car has had a catch can on for the last 10k. Do you think it would have a lot of carbon build up?

You know a simple $60 egr delete cable and you couldve avoided all that cleaning crap. With the delete cable You also get almost 10% better fuel economy, i know because ive measure the fuel mileage precisely.
I did this while blocking off the egr cooler on the hot side, cold side, and bypassing the egr coolers water lines. I thought while I had the car in pieces to clean up the manifold. What a waste of time. When I got my intake manifold off it wasn't as dirty as I expected on a 100,000km 3.2l 5 cylinder. I did have an electric egr delete fitted at 70,000km and that probable saved me heaps, but the effort was not worth the gain. Pretty much the worst job I've done on a vehicle and I've dropped out motors and gearboxes on any config you can think of. Oh and the black sooty shit thats in the manifold sticks to everything like shit to a blanket and is a massive pain to clean. If id known all this I would have paid some cunt to do it.
that is a great comment, pissed myself laughing. Also made my mind up not to do it!!!!!!!! Do you have a PX2 and if so did the EGR delete make you use more fuel or make the turbo noisy. Just about to get a tune but can't seem to get a straight answer on a few PX2 things. Tuner has told me no need to put in the plates if you get the EGR closed during tune and then do water bypass.
@@pepperdog7556 haha yeah emotions were running high when I wrote that. I've got a 2014 BT50, so I think that's equivalent to a PX1. Made no difference blocking it off fuel wise or noise wise. I blocked mine off because my EGR cooler had cracked and if I didn't block it at the exhaust manifold side then exhaust gasses would have flowed through the crack and out the water pipes which were bypassed which means an exhaust leak in the engine bay. Your tuner is correct, but if your EGR cooler fails then you run the risk of an exhaust leak in the engine bay. Since you're removing the water lines from the EGR cooler then technically it shouldn't rust out and crack.
@@turbostyler yes i have the cracked cooler as well and Ford quoted me 5k to change it and the glow plugs. WOW. Het the PX2 cooler is different than the PX1 you cant put a plate in the exhaust side which is a bit of a bummer so I will have to try to join the hoses on the cooler and hope they don't catch fire. I am think the exhaust wont be that hot with no flow through of gases. If you see one on the news on fire in Brisbane you have an idea why. Thanks mate
@@TheInsightDistrict Yeah, it was great! I've just now finished up. Thank you for posting it! Have you ever taken the actual EGR valve off and cleaned it? I got to that stage (like you, the EGR controller off) and chickened out. My intake had bugger-all carbon/oil buildup, so I figured the EGR would have a similar amount of carbon, so not worth worrying about.

Thanks for the vid! Do you know if the egr can be cleaned? As mine is throwing an error for “egr stuck closed”
Yes you can clean it very easily.
when you pull out the egr valve , give the actuator a clean and wipe put just inside where it sits, this should allow it to move freely

almost sound like a battery issue or a starting issue, because if it was fuel, the lights wouldnt flicker

nah i didnt
Hey mate, I got up to removing EGR valve access to the inner 2 bolts is minimal what did you use to get the torques bit in there
i think i used tape or blue tack inside the adapter for the torques bit
How long approx should it take a motor mechanic to remove the egr and manifold, clean the manifold , put back together with a new egr ? Ford ranger 2016 3.2 lt motor
i would say a minimum of 4 hours if they have not done it before, how long did they quote you for?
Would gumming up of the intake cause black smoke?
i would say its unlikely
Great video! Just weandering what Nm you torque the 11 intake manifold bolts to?
my calibrated arm took them to firm then a quarter more...haha. unfortunately I don't have a torque value for them sorry
Could you do a video on the glow plug replacement? I can't find any info of it online, but I think they're under the intake manifold?
dont have my ford ranger anymore sorry
Remove intake and remove glow plugs
what are the torque specs on the manifold ?
3 ugga duggas... to be honest im not too sure
@the insight district can you please do a video on how to remove and clean the EGR of FORD EVEREST 2018 2.2 AT?

unfortunately i do not, i just do them up until they are tight and not over strain them
