It's crazy how the media sleeps on him but is so acknowledge/appreciated by the Top Tier in the league
Media sleeps on him because he isn't flashy. He doesn't shoot from the logo. He doesn't have super crazy dunks. He plays defense, and defense isn't pretty. It's ugly.

Jrue's brain is like an FBI database for all NBA players, it's crazy.
He's legitimately the best perimeter defender in the league, every star guard says he's the hardest to score on. Jrue is very dangerous.

Not to take anything away from him but remember the tendencies of the top players in the league isn't that difficult, especially when it's your job to watch tape with an all worlds coaching staff, if he was breaking down bench players like that that would be more impressive
@@LazarTheMaster it's one thing to be able to make those on the fly analyses for damn near every player in the league, it's another thing to execute the correct defensive play time and time again to the point where players HATE being guarded by you the most out of anyone in the league.

Also, players talk about Jrue differently to the media. There's more than one vid with former or current players saying he is the best defender, so hopefully now he's a champion he gets more recognition from the pundits.
@@divideandmultiply jrue holiday is the reason why the bucks won the championship, without jrue's offensive playmaking, shot creation and most importantly his elite on ball and lockdown defense, bucks probably would'nt have made it to the finals or win it all.

@@hhhhhhhhhh6675 Donovan Mitchell is probably the best two way guard, but it's debatable between Jrue, CP3, and Mitchell. It also depends on if you consider Brown, Butler, and PG13 forwards or guards.

Holiday and Tucker will be the biggest difference maker for the Bucks this postseason. Those two takes off a great amount of burden from Giannis and Middleton to defend every scorer against their opponent while trying to make buckets on the other end.
Holiday can be half court pointguard as well and tucker space's the floor from his corner three spots. the bucks look good. fear the dear

The very underrated and underappreciated player in the league. He's my favorite defender versus on-guard position. He reminds me of Tony Allen. The grit and grind type of a player and always hustling to guard the best player.
But Jrue is better at offense
He kind of reminds me of a smaller version of Kawhi Leonard on defense.

Jrue's strength is so underrated.. I remember watching his guard LeBron in the post and he stayed with him all the way, being 4-5 inches shorter and like 40-50lbs lighter and still not being completely killed by LeBron is impressive as hell.
He was completely killed by LeBron. I remember that game. No one could guard LeBron so JRue asked for that assignment and still got cooked.
I’m not trying to diminish his ability. He’s a great defender but let’s not act like he locks everybody down
@@1L3g3nd How do you define "completely killed"? I would say Derrick Jones in the finals was completely killed by LeBron in the post, he had 0 chance and gave him pretty much free lay ups. Jrue actually gave a level of opposition you wouldn't expect from someone so much smaller than LeBron, he held his own and made it harder for LeBron, I didn't say he stopped him.

@@DrProfessorWeed Jrue offered some resistance. But that 40 point game he had against the Pelicans showed that he was too small to guard LeBron. He just caught it in the post and either backed him down or spun off him for a point blank layup at the rim. Not taking anything away from Jrue at all but strong fowards are gonna cook him down low every time
Edit: in fact in the second matchup Alvin didn’t even bother putting Jrue on him most of the game. It was mostly Josh Hart who took the assignment.
@@ryanw373 I agree, I mean at the end of the day Jrue has no business ever guarding LeBron down low, I was just impressed he not only took the challenge but visibly you can see he has some incredible strength to even give any resistance to someone 4-5 inches taller and like 60-70lbs heavier.
I remember back in 2018 Jrue Defended Dame the whole Series wherein the Blazers struggled offensively

I remember that series. I was already a Jrue fan but, I was so impressed. You don't see that often where a defender can just get under a top scorers skin like that and shut them down.

I really enjoy watching Jrue play even when he was still a sixer. A very good and smart defender plus he's strong so he can defend multiple positions. Very quick on his feet.

Glad more and more light is being shed on defense! I personally love playing defense. I enjoy the mental aspect of it, trying to read the opposing player's moves and not letting them feel comfortable on the ball. Nothing beats the feeling stealing the ball or blocking the shot of the opponent's best player lol

People saying jrue wasnt rlly able to give an impact on defending this guy and that guy... Saying that "oh he didn't lock up that guy"... This guy doesn't only give his all on defense during the game. He studies everything to know beforehand like knowing the other teams best player's habits and weaknesses and taking advantage of them which makes jrue one of the best defenders to play the guard position because of his work ethic and basketball IQ. Ppl still sleeping on this guy 😪

@@marv_7530 Jrue has more technique in my opinion. Simmons is good at guarding 1 to 5 but Jrue is a notch better at perimeter defense. Simmons can be a bit too big to fight over screens, though he also does that very well. Jrue has the ideal size and quickness to deal with perimeter players. Whilst Simmons can hold down the post better. Another thing with Jrue is how he reaches for the steals while keeping his man contained without gambling. You can see on the clip when he guards steph in the corner, his pressure and quick feet makes him able to poke the ball without the risk of getting blown by because he slides his feet so well. His hands are so good at tracking the ball without getting called for fouls.

Defense is very underrated on this era. Even if the rules are against defensive players, the fact that they can still be this elite of a defender is just amazing.

My favourite thing about Jrue is his balance between defense and offence. I love Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart but they are not as good as Jrue in both end. I love his time in Pelicans and he believes he will keep his energy going. If only the Celtics could have him...
