    This video was just for fun. It was not intended to say one machine is better than the other. I just so happen to have similar size competitor units there at the same time. I will do another video like this in the future if I ever have two similar, competitor units. Hope yall enjoyed it. I noticed that the lift cylinders on the two machine are oriented differently. Does this make one vertical lift vs radial? Is one stronger because of this?

    • @stedder8436

      Both of these machine are vertical lift machines. Google bobcat t630 or cat 249d and look at the position of those lift cylinders. Those are radial lift units.

      Actually yes this is the crucial difference between the two. Where the position is applying pressure makes a huge difference on lifting capacity. The bobcat is further back on the boom making it more of a wedge at this point vs the Cat is more toward the middle of the boom. This is what allows bobcat to have a slight competitive advantage.

    I always said Bobcat beats Cat. Cat is just a name, they’re large equipment is great. However, they’re compact lineup is subpar.

    I've operated them all and I've never seen the cat not try to pick something up. They usually go tail end of the ground before the stop lifting. I think it's a bobcat fanboy scewing results

    • @stedder8436
      @stedder8436  3 роки тому +4

      Jason Williams you’re certainly entitled to your opinion. What incentive would I have to mess with the results? Not like I’m being paid by bobcat. I mess with equipment all the time from selling it to some rental and some operating. I’ve owned over 100 machines. I don’t care that much what name is on the side of it as long as it’s a good machine. They all have things they can improve on though. Thanks for watching

    the cat doesn't have enough power in its tilt cylinders they way they are designed to tilt that load backwards, but if you can tilt back as far back as it can before going up it can hold it there usually, that would have brought the load closer to the machine and would have helped to be able to lift it, maybe it still wouldn't have lifted it I don't know but there can be a big difference in what a machine is capable of depends on the operator

      @@stedder8436 I gotcha, I don't think it has to do with that the cat is weaker though, its their design, the cat cylinders pull pretty much straight at the pivot point when they are tilted all the way back, there's just no way it has power to curl back heavy loads like that

    bobcat controls and reliability sucks. don't buy this junk. i have 267b with over 6000h and everything works great other than maintenance and normal wear like tracks boogie wheels nothing brakes. i also have t870 with 3500h and this thing is money pit everything brakes on it you name it. pump, electronics, this machine had more than 20k in repairs done vs cat $0 not to mention gas saving on cat its probobly half what bobcat uses bc of foot throttle. bobcat is very archaic very expensive to own, loud, uncomfortable, dump machine.

    • @stedder8436
      @stedder8436  4 роки тому +1

      Greg Piatek most joystick controlled bobcats have a turn dial throttle and a foot throttle. Bobcat is also the leader in compact equipment sales. Don’t think they got there by accident. Maybe you just got a bad one. It sucks for sure. I’ve owned a lot of skidsteers. They all have issues every now and then. People have different tastes kind of like with trucks (ford, Chevy, dodge etc). Have a great day

      @@stedder8436 yeah have you tried bobcat joystick controls(electronic) vs cat, kubota, takeuchi, (hydraulic) its night and day. bobcat is there because they made their name long time ago (30 years) and that's where they where good but quality and technological advancements doesn't go well over time. i had 2006 t190 and it was ok fairly reliable but it was not today's doosan garbage. im sorry but lift test doesn't do anything to me. few hundred pounds is nothing compared to downsides of bobcat machine.

    • @stedder8436
      @stedder8436  4 роки тому

      Again, if they were as bad as you say, over the last 30 years they would have slowly started losing sales to other companies, but yet remain at the top of compact equipment sales. It’s different strokes for different folks. I personally sit in a CAT and it’s one of those uncomfortable units while someone else will say they’re comfortable. Acting like CATs never have a problem couldn’t be further from the truth. Every now and then you’re gonna have some that have issues just like with trucks. It sucks, but it is what it is.

    • @gregpiatek6941
      @gregpiatek6941 4 роки тому +2

      @@stedder8436 i will explain you why bobcat still sells good amounts of skid steers 1 they are machines for amateurs (foot controls with old school levers) and they are cheaper than other brands so rental companies buy them and right after warranty is over sells them... i don't know any professional operator that still uses bobcat. its mostly cat little takeuchi and kubota. who ever works on machine all day never wants foot controls with hydraulic levers it just makes you tired. 299d is best machine you can buy today. i see you have some problems with your 257 but this is abnormal this machine should be as smooth as any other cat there is something wrong with your machine.

    • @stedder8436
      @stedder8436  4 роки тому

      Greg Piatek bud I also buy and sell equipment. I’ve owned over 100 skidsteers. When I said I have experience I wasn’t lying. I’ve got over 10 years operating as well. About 90% of new bobcats are sold with joystick controls. I’ve currently got another Cat 257d that’s just as much junk as the one in my videos with 500 less hours. Not everyone is gonna think the way you do and not everyone has had the same experience with a certain machine that you’ve had.
