Try taking the starting ignition switch apart and spin the plastic switch inside of it, or try hooking up a jumper and touching the 2 starter positive and negatives together with a rubber or plastic screwdriver and see if it engages the starter
@@milehyandriver or try charging the battery ALL the way up too. Yeah, it’s a long shot, but battery is cheaper and easier to replace than a starter. Plus, it’s the place to START. Seen way too many people replace their starter only to have it do the same thing and find out battery, or cables, were at fault. You can’t return a starter after it’s been installed so start with the basics.
So I did what you said, it wasn't the battery. I started with simple stuff, cleaned the battery heads, jumped it and when that failed, I took a look at the starter and I saw that it was cock eyed and wasn't seated properly. The mounting bolts fell out. I'm trying to find replacement bolts but no luck yet. Thanks for your help on this.

It is the ground wire to the starter starter grounds to the engine
Try jumping battery before anything.
I tried with a battery pack jumper but no luck. Going to try jumping with my other car today.
