What a fantastic idea. This should be a requirement of all geriatric medicine programs. I worked in a nursing home for years. Caregivers and doctors could certainly benefit from such a first hand experience.

As an aspiring medical student, watching this was very emotional as we can never understand the frustration elderly patients deal with at a daily basis. It hits you hard in the heart.

Kristen, you are a very sweet person and i'm quite sure you're going to be a really good professional. I've been working in geriatric residences for some years and your heart is in the right place.

This a great idea! People should do this if they're going to work with spinal cord injury patients also. What a wonderful person!

Love the concept of walk the walk...not talk the talk

@johnnytastetest No that isn't at all the case, as a medic you are working with people who come with all their worries, anxieties, fears and yes, emotions! If they wanted cold and calculating they always have Google or net doctor...

It is a fabulous way to teach students. However, if every medical student goes this lesson , a lot of resources will be wasted that they are supposed to be spent on patients.

4:18 The woman on the left is probably a big reason why seniors like to age in place as they say. The look on her face while the other resident prepared to go be with her family was pure jealousy! LOL

I thought she had a “stroke?” All of her body parts worked awfully well. She scooted down that hall using both arms (and those arms were not affected by a bit of arthritis let alone a stroke).

That woman is too emotional. People in the medical field should be cold and calculating in their work to be effective.
