Nice video. Brought back a lot of memories of my own single handed crossing from Bermuda to Horta. Had a bit more luck though with the wind, despite some quite calm days. My old and heavy 37' steel boat of empty 11 tons took only 13 days.
Greetings from Ireland. Really like your solar set up. We have been looking for similar idea for our 32ft westerly fulmar. SO close with the drone. I like your camera stands too
Yt Just recommended ur channel, awesome, a real Sailor with real Seamanship knowledge and skills. First thing I noticed that and how tidy u keep Charles, impressed. Nothing like it, solo across an incredible, unforgiving Ocean. Thanks for ur Courage and sharing ur adventure with us. 🇦🇺🤘

Another great 'episode' with that cool meeting with your friends on Infinity. YT recommended your channel this morning and I am caught up / up to date. I look forward to future posts and wish you and "Charles Vane" fair winds!
Great video and hello from a very cold and dark Alaska. I just discovered your channel and have subscribed. I'm planning on looking at a Nic 35 next month in the Pacific Northwest. I was wondering how difficult it was to land a drone on a moving yacht. Now I know!
Hello Ed. It was good watching your w to east Atlantic crossing. Tell me, do you use a mast ring for your spinnaker pole or do you have a slider track on th mast ?
This is looking very familiar :) The Nich 35 seems like such a solid boat. Seems like you're braver than me in a lot of ways, did you say 30 knots with 1 reef in? Total Kamakaze landing of the drone 😂
Thanks! The Nic 35 is a very stiff boat, the earlier models were conservatively undercanvassed - so she can take a breeze with surprisingly minimal reefing! Yes that drone landing was certainly one of my worst! 😂
Great question! They run to a block on the stern quarter BUT they can whack the solar panels on the rail. So I learned to run the sheets first via a block near the winches (acting a bit like an inhaul / tweaker), then to the stern, then back to the winches. This leads the lines below the panels along the toe rail. Improvise, adapt, overcome!
Great video, great sail, great yacht, ENJOY !!!
Cheers, Harry

Really enjoyed the Vlog, especially the explanation on rigging the cruise chute, just the right level of detail for a landlubber 😂😂
Thanks David! Episode 4 in this series gives a better explanation about the cruising chute / spinnaker, I hope you found it interesting!
Amazing adventure!! My long life dream to cross like that. And well done on documenting it :)
Thanks! If I can do it, anyone can 😜

Thanks, I really enjoyed that Ed. Try to visit Pico if you can, Lajes is a great little port.
Looking forward to your next adventure.

How long did your feathered visitor stay on board

Techy question😊 do you run the lines on the chute to rear quarter then fwd to winch, or straight to winch?. Bravo Zulu.

Nice vid! You should credit the music artists, though
Thanks for watching! The music is all from UA-cam’s own royalty-free library, I believe under non-attributed licences but I’ll double check! 👍
Ah, I see🙂 Well, then, very well made video, and congrats on the passage!
