Onion/vegetable pakora (bhaji) is such a popular starter here in the UK.
Given that 'Indian food' is also our nation's favourite food, we have Indian restaurants in every town and village. Friday night is often 'curry night' in many households. Part of our long relationship with India and the love of this food came back with people returning from the India Raj days in the 1800's and early-mid 1900s. Granted, many dishes were adjusted to British tastes, and to this day favourites are not totally authentic (e.g. Chicken Tikka Masala) with many restaurants offering 'Punjabi' style food, however the full range of authentic cuisines from India are here and enjoyed by both the Indian communities and native British born who have grown up with it. We love Indian food, and seeing more Americans discover it is a joy to see. I remember visiting the USA in the 1980s and it was so hard to find an Indian restaurant. I eventually did in Los Angeles (La Cienega Blvd), which I enjoyed.
I'm from India too..So good to hear the comment you have written 😊😊
wow that's so cool! I didn't know indian food was so loved in the UK. Thank you for your comment and info :)

Kashmiri chilly powder makes it Royal RED🇮🇳
Jessica, you always explain briefly about the food mentioning about its flavours. The Indian food is always delicious and healthy. If you will visit india , you may find different food and it varies with regions and states throughout the country. Your reaction videos are awesome.
thank you! yes we hope to visit next year :)
For the redness of gravy, the ideal thing to mix is Kashmiri Laal Mirch(Kashmiri Red Chilli/Pepper) which is less hot but gives a distinct flavor and red color to the gravy. There are many kinds of chilies in India which are used as per their individual characteristics. But in some places, people used permitted food colors as well for giving the color to the dish which is ok as per modern science but completely prohibited as per Indian Traditional Cooking. Hey guys I would also like you to suggest an Indian book called Bhagwat Gita or sometimes called Gita as well. Have a good day.
great thank you for the information! Ya we are really intrigued about cooking some indian dishes at home, and this Sunday (Eastern Time) we are going to post a video on just that! Stay tuned and if you have an recipes you'd like to see us try at home, leave it in the comments :)

@@alfonsoandjessica most welcome jessica.❤✨✨
Jessica... I have seen you trying many countries cuisines. When you eat an Indian one... your happiness is next level... Even in Miami you loved loved the food. Now I will give you the vegetable pakoda recipe... You buy all the ingredients from an Indian store.
Chickpea flour (Besan) 250 grams
Baking soda (just a pich or two is used)
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
Onion
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Green capsicum (bell peppers)
Potato
Fresh coriander
Green chillies especially Indian chillies
Dry spices
Coriander seeds (sabut dhania) 50 grams
Cumin seeds ( jeera) 50 grams
Carom seeds ( Ajwain) 50 grams
Turmeric powder a pinch
Salt
Chat masala 1 small pouch
Slice all the veggies thinly and put thinly sliced potatoes in a bowl of water and cabbage in a bowl of water separately. After 5 minutes put the potatoes and cabbage in a strainer...
In a mixing bowl add sliced onions ( always onions quantity should be more than the remaining veggies), add cabbage, potatoes, sliced bell peppers, finely chopped green chillies, finely chopped fresh coriander, 2 cups of chickpea flour, slightly crushed or coarsely ground coriander seeds 1 teaspoon, cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon, carom seeds (just crush them in between your both the palms) 1/2 teaspoon, salt to taste, properly mix all the ingredients, slowly add water and make a thick mixture, lick it and taste. Adjust salt, lastly add 2 pinches of baking soda... Rest it for 5 to 7 minutes. Deep fry the pakodas in vegetable oil on a medium heat. If the oil is too hot... Pakodas will burn from outer layer and won't cook inside. If the oil is not at all hot... Pakodas will suck more oil. Deep fry the pakodas sprinkle some chat masala and enjoy the pakodas with hot masala chai...
wow thank you so much for this recipe! I think im going to actually make this recipe at home and we will do a video! I will mention your name :) we really appreciate this! We will most likely do it on Sunday so stay tuned!!
Means a lot.... Cooking is my passion..now it's my profession. In this pandemic...my cooking has helped me to survive. I can tell you many recipes. Especially vegetable kofta... and you said in your video if Restaurant can give you a bucket of sauce (that is called as gravy) I can tell you an easy way to make gravy.

Papads or pappadams can be made of variety of ingredients.. Rice, black lentils, sago etc to name a few with different flavourings added like garlic, pepper and even red chilli ones which makes them bright red and quite pungent. They can be fried or a healthier version of roasted ones or nowadays even in microwave. The pappad you had can even have a mixture of onions, tomatoes, cilantro green chillies etc finely chopped and mixed and put on top and called a masala pappad and is like a starter and is really delicious .
Little Alfonso did a great job!!! He is soooo cute!!!

Hello sir, you have visited India, thank you very much for this. In India, you will also get different costumes, clothes, language, food in different states, you will get different in every state, the people here are very good, we are the guest of God. Kindly believe, yes it is definitely that 10% of the people keep trying to spoil the image of the country, sometimes our guests have to be insulted, I am sorry with folded hands on behalf of such people, this country is very good, you are any of the people of India. Also go to someone's house in the corner and see you will definitely ask you for Indian food, you keep coming to India and encourage more people to come to India, if you ever come to my house, I will welcome you with Indian cuisine. Our civilization is more than 5000 years old, even today in our country joint family and Indian women wear all our country invaders have invaded our country for thousands of years, British rule has ruled us for 200 years, our country was called golden bird. But the foreign invaders looted us and took the gold to our country on the lot, but today India is one of the world's largest five economies, today our army came fourth among the world's four super powers, after America, most English is spoken in India, Doctor Engineer Scientist, we are at number two in the whole world, we are the moon and Reaching Mars but even today the world does not see us from this point Look at the many ups and downs in India over the years, we fought 4 wars and these wars were imposed on us in the history of 5000 years, never attacked any country in India, but we were attacked for thousands of years, we were looted by anyone in the division. Didn't attack the country We Indians consider the whole world as our family, so that you come to my home in India, I welcome you, if anyone has been hurt by my words, I apologize with folded hands, you in India. If you have not come, then come, if you have come, you are welcome wholeheartedly thank you Namaste
Come to India once and try all the dishes
We are hoping to be there soon :)
Your views increases manifold times when videos relates to Indian food. We love watching your videos
Thank you so much! :)
One of the best Indian cooking channels I would like to suggest to you is with the name Honest Kitchen. Though he makes videos in Hindi he teaches in a very good way and for native English viewers, there are subtitles. He has a no-nonsense approach and also teaches many Indian household dishes which you usually will not get in restaurents. He is also a chef in a 4 or 5-star hotel I Guess just don't quote me on that. But he is amazing and I personally barely watch any other cooking show on UA-cam for Indian cooking after finding him. Have a great day.
amazing! we will check it out and follow along with his recipes :)
Making any kind of Pakora is so simple just 3-4 ingredients. But the timing has to be precise. Very light crunchy healthy evening snack with tea or coffee ❤️

Lovely ambience ❤️
Thank you! :)
Try kurkuri bhindi (Indian style ladyfinger)....they are amazing
Vegetable pakoras are my favourite too, in India we make vegetable pakoras on rainy days and have it with chai and chutney and it feels like heaven💗
amazing!
I think the reason why Indian food is so satisfying is because back in old days say before 20th century, many of these dishes were originated and they were actually made / prepared so that it would satisfy the King / Queen ... One of them is Kebabs, they were made so soft because once the Nawab told to prepare something for which he doesn't need to put efforts in chewing.... These kind of stories you will hear a lot in Old Delhi....
oh wow, thank you for sharing!
Your eyes are real look nice ...god given gifted to you your eyes
Yes :) I feel blessed
Come india then enjoy indian Street food.....you just amaz to see the variety of food...I must say you just loved it......
We will!
Nice vlog.love from India.
Glad you enjoyed!
I do have to say, if someone had to hire a food or cuisine presenter at an event, my first recommendation would be you. Your approach is fresh and inquisitive and curious and you seem to care about what you say. Makes people want to eat the way you describe food. P.S. the chefs sometimes throw in capsicum/bell peppers and eggplant/aubergine/brinjal into the veg pakoras. That red color comes from pureed cooked down tomatoes that they add to a cashew gravy. You see if you look carefully, you will see a reddish color and an orangish color in the gravy. Cashew gravy tends to want to separate from the tomato gravy which is water based as cashew gravies have a higher amount of fat. This leads to the color differences that you see on your plate. Cooked cashew gravy comes in a linen color/creamy green-white color.
thank you for your comment! :)
Thank you very much.

Sounds great! Thanks for your comment :)
Not all restaurants make good non veg even in India. But some selected ones are simply next level.
If Indian restaurants remove only one thing " The spicynes" , the Indian food will be amazing for Europeans" I suggest them to please "For Europeans, please use black peppers for spiciness,, don't use chillis in their food"" I wish to open a food corner according to the tongue tase , When I open a food corner " I will take care taste of tongue for everyone "In real fact European really hate chillis for spiciness " "THE MORAL FOR INDIAN RESTAURANTS"
Alfanso dance is very nice🎉🎉
Enjoy
Thank you!
Whatever Indian veg or meat item that you eat, have it with sliced lemon squeeze it on onions and little on the dish itself it will be next level trust me.
