Underrated gem of a movie
Yep 1 of my favs alot of great actors as well
An absolute masterpiece that most don't give a chance.
1 of my fav movies
yessir. it depicted seals before seals were a common thing everyone knew about
this is an extremely underrated movie, everything about it is on point and hits you in the feels
Wouldn’t say “everything”, the scenes with the F-18s have serious continuity issues lol. Regardless, it’s still a great movie.
And shows how much Africa f**cked up after countries gained independence!
Mate this Movie Camembert out and i enlisted 2 weeks later... and i am still 18b
Yes lawd
Fiiiiinallllyyyyy someone reacts to this movie!!!!
Holy shit I haven't seen this movie in like 10 years. So fucking good
The critic scores for this film are pretty low; but, then again, so are critics.
Critics are just people with an opinion.
@@OutlawOfTexas "Professional" Critics are just shills looking for either a paycheck or an agenda to push.
@@OutlawOfTexas yeah and theyre opinion sucks
“Lieutenant. I am sorry about your men”
If that Beautiful Woman doesn’t hit your heart during that scene then you may want to check your pulse. Beautiful Music and a Great Film. Thank you for watching it ✌️
The village scene with the dead baby and the mother seriously injured that’s really sad
This is easily one of my favorite films. My favorite shot in the film is of the soldier whose final act is to pull his body on top of the woman he was trying to save. Place his body between hers and the danger. If only I could die so nobly.
One of my favourite scenes too 💔
" I can't think of them like packages anymore" Powerful resolve of Humanity, to help the helpless is truly Holy.
This war movie don't get nowhere near enough recognition as it should, truly a great one but not well known.
Facts
I served with a SEAL. He left the teams and the NAVY for his family. He missed serving so he joined the Coast Guard reserves. Dude was literally the most put together person I served with. He was put on active duty after 9/11 and assigned to my unit. He said that this was as close to realistic that he had watched.
If your seal friend says this crap is realistic then he aint no seal, no military what soever, this is hollywood bs, doesnt come close to the real thing at all.
@@Sarge80 he was talking about they interact with each other. I think until you have been there you should hold off on the opinions
@@charleysage5827 I was never a seal true, i was in marsof however, if you want to see how a well known seal thinks about that movie check out Jocko Willink's movie reaction....
@@Sarge80 dude u are still ignoring what he said he not talking about the action and shit he’s talking about the events and how they were interacting in the movie don’t be ignorant
@@joshuathornhill8168 Why are you taking my answers as if i am mad to you haha, im not, i just disagree slightly with your friends statement, some of the interaction between them is indeed quiete genuine, but some isnt either, just my small 2cp. Besides that thank your friend for his service please.
"FUCK YOUUU!" Red was my favorite character. So glad you did this flick. Its a hidden gem.
Peter Mensa looks like he's carved out of stone. He was a freakin badass in the Spartacus series
The man dose not age!
EXTREMELY UNDERRATED, THANKS FOR WATCHING. Must also watch DEFIANCE
Hell yeah, underrated
Defiance is one of my all time favorite WW2 films. Amazing.
I love the part when “Lake”(Johnny Messner) gots shot by a sniper and says to Bruce Willis , “LT!! I’m better than that!! I tell you; I’m better than that!!”
Think thats where call of duty got the look for Soap McTavish too : P
It’s kinda sad how that actor didn’t grow as much as I’d hope. The last movie I saw him in was The Equalizer where Denzel killed him in the diner with a book.
@@emileblanche5868 I totally agree. He is in another great movie in a badass but bit-role: SPARTAN(Val Kilmer, Willaim H. Macy, Ed O’Neil). But the only other great he was in I didn’t like the character: RUNNING SCARED(Paul Walker, Vera Farmiga)
@@colinwoonsue That’s Hollywood for ya. Most aspiring actors don’t get a shot and the ones that do may get two to five leading roles before falling into obscurity.
I love this film and this is definitely one of Hans zimmers most underrated soundtracks.
First time I watched this movie it was on my day off and I was making waffles. I had to turn them into rum waffles, and even then I needed to sit down and think about what I'd watched.
I requested this months ago lol. I wore this movie out in my lil DVD player. Thanks Dev
This movie chokes me up every time.
This is a heavy movie, but I honestly get a kick from when they bomb the militia at the end. Especially when the enemy captain is screaming in terror before he's incinerated. Not so tough now, huh punk?
Movie gets me in the feels about what's right with people and what's wrong with the world.
If I remember correctly, a extra who was an elderly man apart of the group was there around the time of the military coup. I took this quote off a trivia page, "While the SEALs and the refugees are outside of the village during the ethnic cleansing, the elderly man crying was not planned. The gunfire and screaming caused him to start crying because it was so similar to things that had happened to him in his earlier years. It was something that they had run into several times throughout production."
Many of the extras were ACTUAL refugees. That scene effected most of them that way.
Dude u just made me cry. U suck lol.
Correct. It is on the extra's of the DVD. Director wanted people that actually lived through that nightmare and had them flown to Hawaii where the movie was made. A lot of the people just broke down and cried.
I believe he was a survivor from Mogadishu
One thing about this movie is that ita based on a true story. The writers took a few liberties of course. The real operation took place in Colombia and was not executed by the Navy Seals, but by Canadians JTF2. Still a great movie though. Just a bit disapointed the JTF2 didnt get its chance too shine, me being Canadian and all.
So many Canadian heros have sacrifice everything to help others
Thank you for informing people about this
That's where tom clancy got the idea?
This movie is based on a true operation? Do you know what it's called I'd love to read more about it.
@@GhostEye31The best written account is from We were invincible, By Denis Morissette, no official accounts, though, all JTF2 missions are highly classified, and Morissette is currently in jail.
One should also add that none of the JTF2 operators were killed or injured during the mission. They straight up dunked on the militia xD
The scene with the lady who had her breasts cut off gets me everytime. Of all the horrible things people are capable of, thats the scene that makes me ugly cry. Such a powerful movie. Definitely underrated
Fuqua did a great job, and there were amazing ex-seals who were consultants on the action of the film. Also, some members of the extras in the extraction group were survivors of real ethnic cleansing events, and those were real of trauma when they looking at the village scene.
Years later, this movie is still good. Underrated indeed
I’m SO GLAD you’ve watched this
Movie has heart. My favorite Bruce Willis movie besides LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN
Thats a damn good movie too!
As a retired vet this movie always brings me to tears. To see the atrocities were capable of inflicting on one another makes me lose faith in the human race but also to see poodle willing to sacrifice everything for what's runt anal gives me hope.
Still gotta see wind river. Amazing serious movie with a couple of avengers playing interesting roles. Fair warning it's very heavy story.
Wind River is a damn good movie. Loved AND hated it.
Ayyy this is a slept on movie.
Tears of the Sun is soooo damn underrated. Up there in my favorites with Black Hawk Down, Braveheart and Last Samurai.... Very very good film, cast and video my G.
Quality movie. I never understood why it never got any traction when it came out, and just sort of got forgotten over time.
First time seeing this blew my mind. This director KNOWS how to put you in every movie he makes. This movie is sad, powerful and witty.
Man I clicked so fast! Been waiting for someone to react to this
DEPARTED, SICARIO, THE REVANANT...these 3 are a must. Trust me!!!! REACT
This movie broke my heart. The sad thing is it's probably still happening at this very moment, nobody can do about it because of greed and stupid politics.
It is. A couple of months ago in a small town in Mozambique. Total slaughter. And hardly any coverage. Welcome to Africa.
It’s not greed, it’s usually due to religion or ethnicity or racism
The scene in the beginning where that man was gunned down haunts me. As a veteran at FOB Iskandayriah, Iraq 2005. Hurts to remember what it's like without the protection and security of my beloved nation. Thank you for reactions.
After like a half year of requesting this, yes!!! Such an underrated movie!
This was my brother Tommy’s favorite movie. It’s oddly comforting for me to watch it since he died. Such an amazing fils, and so moving!
@Darrel Hicks he was killed at work in an accident, he died from concrete powder suffocation.
Supposedly some of the extras in their group had experienced events like those in the movie. Those tears and reactions at the village scene were real because it brought back memories.
@Jordan Powell This movie showed a glimpse of what was going on and that's why it wasn't well received when it was released.
Tribal conflicts, from what little I understand, run deep and go back generations in some nations. The desire for revenge is the most foolish and insane of human emotions; it sentences everyone it touches to death and hell and unending madness. Where the desire for revenge lives, there is no hope, no freedom, no justice, no love and no peace.
Reminds me of the Somali militiaman talking about Somalia will always be at war and it’s their fight in Black Hawk Down.
My Drill SGTs showed my PLT this one during blue phase of my Army BCT. Great flick! Thanks for this one!
Yes! One of my all time favorite Bruce Willis movie. Thank you!
This movie was as good as Black Hawk Down IMO.
Check out The Accountant!! It's probably Ben Affleck's best movie.
I found this movie whilst up late at night & had never heard of it & loved every minute of it.
It's just lets u know people don't recognize a great movie and would rather see stupid shit when u said they never picked it in a poll THANKS FOR REACTING TO THIS MASTERPIECE OF A MOVIE u got my subscription 👍👏
I was stationed on Oahu at Marine Corps Base Hawaii when this movie was being filmed on the island. The film production reached out to the military bases on island and asked if any of the military personnel fitting a certain description wanted to try out for background fighter roles in the movie. Quite a few did and one was named SSgt Bourgeois a Marine in my company at the time. I was in the 3rd Marines CSSG-3 in the Maintenance Company and he was one of our Staff NCO's. He was a beast in the gym and on the PT field and they snatched him right up. If you watch the trailer SSgt Bourgeois is on screen firing a shoulder mounted RPG at 0:48 into the trailer.
I recommend Soldier starring Kurt Russell
An incredible movie. One of my all time top 3 military movies. Though deeply steeped in controversy, it is truly an amazing film. So stoked you enjoyed it. I too was truly disappointed it was dragging in the polls. Thank you thank you thank you for finally taking the time for this one. I appreciate this one so very much. I kind of feel like a broken record with that lately. So glad to see you. And you already know, Have a blessed day.
An underrated Black Cinema Masterpiece. Bro I teared when I saw the bodies, this isshh hits.
Even though this film is fiction; 1 thing IS fact, the amount of damage a SEAL team can do..... 💯🔥🤙🏽😎
Yeah, but most SEAL teams pride themselves on getting in and out without being detected. If they lose that element, they typically consider that they failed even if they manage to make it back without casualties.
@@jeffburnham6611 -True
@@jeffburnham6611 Yeah, because behind enemy lines and without extensive support, once they are found, they lack the firepower to keep themselves from being overrun in the long run.
Not completely fiction. This was based on a JTF2 operation.
So glad this movie made it, very underrated. Great reaction! I strongly recommend Behind Enemy Lines and Beasts of no Nation sometime.
A pure classic of a movie greatly underrated
Heartbreak Ridge
First off, a big shout out to Devin G! Brother Love watching you watch some of my favorite movies, you bring an almost child like excitement to your movie watching experience so much so you've spoiled me to the point that I don't want to watch a movie without you sitting next to me hooping and hollering one second and the next you're dropping peals of wisdom. Here's a fun fact for you about the making of this spectacular move, I'M a copywriter in advertising and my client is Toyota, We sold them a campaign for their Rav-4 and the commercial was called "Staycation", it was all set in New Orleans and we hired Mr. Antoine Fuqua to direct it, on a break in shooting He shared with me about the issues he had with fan favorite actor Bruce Willis, and how he would undermine every decision he made as the director so much so that he NEVER wants to work with him again. Devin G keep building your brand brother, you've got yourself a life long fan with me, peace brother.
My favorite Bruce Willis film. It’s criminally underrated. Love your stuff broheim!
This is why Saving Private Ryan changed war movies forever. To show the effects of war on a different level a prospective of people who aren't military but have to live and work in a war zone. These people who take care of those in war zones are heroes as well as well as those soldiers who have rescued them.
One of the best military movies imo. Of course it’s behind saving private Ryan and some of the big names but we used to watch this religiously and it still holds up
I recently started watching our channel. Your reactions are great Devin! ToTS is such an awesome movie. Its a shame its so underrated.
I always say this movie is the best example of small unit tactics in cinema. At least for the era it was filmed in.
This was right around the time/right before Bruce Willis stopped caring.
There were there just to extract the doctor! The two nuns and the priest were optional if only if they wanted to go.
So glad you watched this one!! Great reaction to a great movie.
One of the best movies I ever saw. Caught it when it came out in the cinema and it was something else. A war movie with a real "human" element.
Fuqua is such a powerful, powerful movie maker!
Had this movie in my collection for years! Solid movie
I've watch this movie a hundred times.. and I am not bored to watch this movie 💖
One of the best movies ever made. I tell everyone to watch it when talking movies.
Love from Australia
Dude, our movie tastes are so similar! You are my favorite reactor.
Highly underrated movie. I loved it.
Devin, Excellent reaction. Your intensity while watching was clearly heartfelt. Makes me really look forward to the movie that has to be made about the Afghanistan and the retired vets who up and left the US to go rescue people because NCA wouldn’t allow active duty to do it. #TaskForcePineapple.
This whole movie... Welcome to Africa... It's no exaggeration. I live on this continent & I love it, but this is the life that too many in Africa have to live.
Yeah I'm Nigerian and this actually happened alot of people don't know my parents told me about the war
This movie is so sick!!!! Great pick
This movie is a must see. I cry every time I watch it. It’s so hard to comprehend that these horrible people exist in this world today. The things that have happened in this area of the world and to this day still occur is disturbing and should be stopped.
Glad you liked the movie, Devin. I was one of those who suggested it to ya. I knew you'd connect with the African motif with this one. Don't know which version you watched, but there's a Director's Cut that was available on DVD back in the day. And it had some extended scenes during the village raid. I think most restored scenes were basically the Deleted scenes put back into the film when they could.
I blind-bought this DVD back when it first came out. It was a good buy!
I always loved this movie! Awesome seeing you revisiting some of my long time favorite movies
one of my all time favorite war movies ...had depths and internal conflic and sacrifice
One of my favorite movies, brutal that village scene
I watched this movie twice. Both times I was left in a blubbering teary mess. Towards the end of the movie the tears start. Then the little girl runs to her mother and I lose it. 😭
So glad you viewed this, its one of my all-time favourites. Great choice. :)
Spectacular film. One of my favorites.
And, from a military perspective, it's not bad for accuracy.
I just seen this movie yesterday for the first time and omg 😩 my emotions were very similar to yours! U seem like a ball of fun to watch a movie with
I cried when I saw that scene with those kids saying "lena lena lena lena". It brought up some sad memories in me i couldn't resist but cry.
One of my favorite films and so glad you enjoyed it too. Underrated movie and very rough to watch.
Love this movie, didn't think no one would react to it! Thank you!
Finally someone watches this movie!! Great reaction!! Best movie reactor on you tube
Underrated. Antoine Fuqua directs great films
Thanks for doing this one; this is one of my favorite movies of all time!
Me seeing the title of this video: good pick! Good taste in movies! All the other reactors should be paying attention!
I have been waiting for so long for you to watch this, it is massively under rated. So damn good, knew you would love it Devin
Bruce Willis is a big military supporter, that's why he wanted to make this movie. He also spent years trying to get a movie made about Deuce Four (the 24th Infantry Regiment) and the Battle of Mosul in Iraq, but he couldn't get any of the studios to make it.
Underrated movie. I remember watching this movie in a theater. It was amazing script, amazing supporting staff.
Watch the extras. Most extras in this movie had witnessed these atrocities in real life.
Most people say Die Hard was Willis best role, but for me it's Tears of the Sun...
Absolutely love this movie! Saw it when it was first in theaters and bought it as soon as it came out on DVD. I still watch it at least once or twice a year. Another movie I love that I think you would enjoy is "The Way of the Gun".
NIIIICE!! GREAT movie!! Blackhawk Down intro'd people to a SMALL slice of the problems in Africa. This movie lays the realty wide open! Its utterly tragic!! 😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
man finally someone reacted to this movie...I agree with the folks here this movie is unique and is a rare gem of its own :)...and funny reactions too man haha!!!
The casting was on point!
Would love to see you watch A Few Good Men, and Rules of Engagement. You gotta watch them in that order though, the second one is kind a response to the first. You know your stuff, so you’ll understand the message of both movies. Great acting by some big name actors.
Awesome reaction video!!!! FINALLY - someone watches this movie and reacts to it!!! One of my favorite. The villagers ACTUALLY lived through those atrocities depicted in the movie and their reactions at the village where the enemy soldiers were "ethnic-cleansing" the villagers are very REAL. According to the DVD extra's, the director wanted actual people that lived through that nightmare in Africa. Also, the DVD has quite a few deleted scenes that actually ENHANCE the story line, WHY they were cut out (other than movie run-time) is quite baffling.
Also, suggest watching the 1970s "The Wild Geese" - AWESOME MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOTH movies are quite similar and I always considered "Tears of the Sun" as a great Remake of that movie.
One of my faves that I absolutely hate rewatching because its heart wrenching. The same goes for "Letters from Iwo Jima". Absolutely fantastic film but heartbreaking
