I agree with your main assertion. One who's primed to notice certain things will notice those things much more often than someone who's not - as a generality.
I won't outright deny the existence of "energy" or spiritual forces beyond our comprehension, but most "LoA" stuff can be explained by an optimal psychological disposition.
I have my own views about what this psychological disposition is and the meta-skills that are a part of it, but this is one of those subjects I've learned to stay clear from in normal conversation.
