This reminds me of an anecdote I learned in a sociology course long ago. A scientist produced a paper showing that the aboriginal people of Australia did poorly compared to their white counterparts on some test that used simple geometric shapes to determine an aspect of intelligence. Later, another scientist repeated the test, but with photographs of rocks from areas the Aborigines were familiar with. The Aborigines crushed the test, doing far better than their counterparts. Scientists know their work has limitations and always seek to improve their methods. Non-scientists have a result and search for the data to support it.

The question “why are you arguing with derps online?” is incredibly frustrating. Are knowledgeable people supposed to cede online platforms to ignorance? Academics are supposed to sit in their ivory towers, write their papers, publish their books and only engage with each other? Online is where the people are. We need to encounter more knowledgeable people there, and not just people who form opinions before getting any facts, or without learning to think critically.
yes yes yes, exactly. Most of the people who know better have better things to do with their time, and also are averse to the frustration of trying to explain things to people who don't want it explained... or worse, who flat out reject even hearing the arguments because they've already made up their mind that you don''t know what you're talking about because it contradicts their preferred source... but we need to each take a little time to shine a little light and excise these malignant ideas before they grow and spread. We can see, with Q'anon and other conspiracy theories, for example , what happens when people don't do that. @@snowbird7254 There is a lot of misinformation on both sides on this topic. For example saying that race is not based in biology at all is misinformation because race is based on phenotype wich is biological. The racial idea of genetic clusters that only overlap marginally is wrong but saying that race/phenotype doesn't align somewhat with gentic similarity is also wrong. Even though two black africans can have very different genetic profiles, the closest match for each of them is still going to be a black african 100% of the time and never a nordic european. Garrison Hayes here also says that the debate on IQ data was settled generations ago when it obviously wasn't. The very man who received the nobel prize for discovering the structure of the DNA is still alive today shunned by the scientific mainstream for making claims like the ones criticized in the video. It is settled that there are IQ average differences between ethnic group, the cause is still being discussed: 1:52 Many people will straight up deny that the differences exist. The scientific consensus is that IQ changes to some degree depending on the enviroment (flynn effect) but that it is mostly genetic for individuals. From this we get the discussion about the differences in IQ averages of ethnic groups and wether they are caused by genetics (nature) or enviroment (nurture). Many scientists are more inclined to believe that it is nurture based on the empirical evicende but they don't have conclusive data on this, so scientists like the ones we see in the video do not claim that the cause is nurture, they criticize and debunk unscientific arguments advocating for nature. Scientists who are in favor of nature like the mentioned nobel prize winner are ostracized by the scientific mainsteam and essentially lose their jobs. Most people who are not scientists feel morally obligated to assume that nurture is the cause because nature would go against the moral dogma that emerged as a response to racially motivated terror. This creates a one sided discussion and it's going to be worsened by the stigmatization of data that goes against the popular narrative or data period. For example we actually see some friendly fire in this video with a tweet argumenting for nurture being framed because it mentions IQ averages at all 1:04

The first laughable criteria is that IQ does not measure inteligence. It measures culture more than one's ability to think. And because intelligence has so many qualities, it cannot be quantified in one general test. It's like going on Jeopardy and being the winner then playing a Chess master and getting destroyed. The memorization used on Jeopardy will not be a strong talent to beat a Chess master.
We studied one of the early Army 'IQ" tests in my sociology class. It included questions about what was in such-and-so book of the Bible, as if every American should be able to easily recall that. I was like, as an atheist, I would have simply failed this 'intelligence' test. it is indeed, more a 'socialization' test. Can't avoid being one.
_"The first laughable criteria is that IQ does not measure intelligence. It measures culture more than one's ability to think. And because intelligence has so many qualities, it cannot be quantified in one general test."_ You're close, but not quite there. IQ (intelligence quotient) tests are designed to measure certain cognitive abilities and skills, such as: 1. Fluid reasoning - The ability to think logically, identify patterns, and solve problems in novel situations. 2. Knowledge - Acquired knowledge from education and exposure to information. 3. Quantitative reasoning - The ability to understand and solve mathematical and numerical problems. 4. Visual-spatial processing - The ability to analyze and process visual details and spatial relationships. 5. Working memory - The ability to temporarily store and manipulate information in the mind. It's true that IQ tests have limitations and don't measure all aspects of human intelligence. Factors like emotional intelligence, creativity, wisdom, and practical skills are not fully captured by IQ scores. Additionally, IQ can be influenced by education, socioeconomic status, and cultural factors. While IQ scores can provide an estimate of certain cognitive abilities, they should not be taken as a definitive or comprehensive measure of one's overall intelligence or potential for success in life.

The replacement of white peoples due to low domestic birth rates and high rates of immigration is a fact. Wether you want to call it "The Great Replacement" and what you see as the causes behind it is a different story. I think it's fair to say that citizens who want to stop this trend are shamed by the media and barred from political participation in left majority environments and because of that white people will most likely cease to exist for the most part in the next 200 years.

Yep. That he effectively ignores (or rather chooses to censor his actual beliefs regarding) the majority of Earth's human population while encouraging increased reproduction in predominantly white nations seems like positive evidentiary proof of his fundamental racism. It's unfortunate that this taints everything he does, undermining the essential paradigm shifting engineering accomplishments that should otherwise be embraced and supported by liberals and progressives who now revile his companies despite their missions and accomplishments putting most long established, biosphere-destroying, profiteering corporations to shame.
What's wrong with white people not wanting to go extinct? And just like with high IQ it's acutally east Asians that are at the top here and not white people . South Korea and Taiwan our going to demographically implode if they don't do anything about their birth rates. China is shrinking and Indias demographic turn has already begun. And this is not the solution to "overpopulation", at this rate it's a huge economic problem because it creates a very overaged society.

But- it can be in populations exposed to toxic environmental variables...say like lead in paint in historically impoverished neighborhoods, methyl mercury contamination in regions with pulp and paper production ( first nations reserves for example). Current research indicates a possible causal relationship between air pollution ( like in urban areas) and reductions in intelligence.
IQ testing is a flawed metric for determining intelligence. The IQ test can only be 'passed' or 'excelled' by someone who is familiar with the subject matter in the test and the language of the test. People who share the same background as the person who made the test would obviously score higher marks. Intelligence is learned through your environment. We learn what we need to navigate the places and spaces that we frequent. A child from the inner city may be more adept at reading faces to determine friend or foe. They may know their neighborhood back-to-front to know where to hide if a strange person is chasing them. They may know the best way to fend off a rabid dog. This intelligence is more useful to them than pointing out a divan from a commode whilst identifying the colloquial names couch and toilet.
Nope. First Nations and all Indigenous people in North America don't have a phenotype. There are some similarities to Indigenous people prior to colonization but tribes don't require a member to adhere to a specific phenotype to be an enrolled member. They go by involvement in tribal culture, language, ceremonial knowledge and participation in their community. Phenotypes are now outdated
The primary confusion stems from a misunderstanding of what IQ actually measures. It doesn't gauge absolute intelligence but rather relative cognitive ability within a specific group. Since IQ tests are standardized around Western culture and education systems, migrants and individuals from non-Western backgrounds often score lower due to cultural and systemic biases. Moreover, those facing barriers within the Western education system tend to perform worse as well. To get a more accurate measure of cognitive potential, it's crucial to control for at least two factors: cultural background and educational environment. Therefore meaningful comparisons can only be made with second- or third-generation migrants or people facing similar educational environments.
So people are shocked a white man who was born and grow up in south Africa during apartheid and whos family benefited for apartheid has these types of ideas or supports them okay.
Racism is a complex and deeply rooted issue, and psychology plays a significant role in understanding the motivations behind it. Often, individuals who hold racist beliefs, particularly among white racists, are those who feel a sense of underachievement compared to their peers. This can lead to an inferiority complex, where they struggle to reconcile their self-worth with their perceived shortcomings. To cope with this dissonance, they may adopt the belief that their race inherently makes them superior, using it as a psychological crutch to mask their insecurities and inadequacies. This need to bolster their self-esteem by demeaning others is a defense mechanism, allowing them to avoid confronting their own failures. However, this behavior does not truly elevate their status; instead, it reflects a deep-seated vulnerability and a lack of self-acceptance. In reality, the act of perpetuating racist ideologies is a sad testament to their inability to thrive on their own merits, revealing more about their inner turmoil than any supposed racial superiority.
A fantastic piece of writing! Thank you for delving into the psychology behind this! Psychology is the best place to look for a person’s motivation in my opinion.

You have a good point. If we have people spreading misinformation on certain platforms, we need people to counteract that so it's not all one-sided.
yes yes yes, exactly. Nobody wants to take the time to help uncle Jim realize that 9-11 wasn't an inside job, even though yes yes yes the elites are corrupt and sometimes evil etc. etc. etc. but Jim, there are just too many lines of reasoning and evidence that disqualify the hypothesis and happen to converge on another one... but dammit, try getting Jim interested in that... and Jim is out there, recruiting new believers, all day long on the internet... @@snowbird7254 There is a lot of misinformation on both sides on this topic.

I still need to go find this recording, but right after he took over the twit site someone recorded this 'spaces' conversation. These were their voices, not like a transcript. I hear some engineer make a point, I wasn't sure how valid it was or not, but Elon's response was so BREATHTAKINGLY arrogant it blew my mind. he first, stomped all over this guy, maligned his intelligence, called him stupid, called his ideas stupid, stomp stomp stomp. Then, without hardly a pause, he repeats the man's very statement almost word for word, smugly, as if he knew better all along. But, he just REPEATED what the other guy said. After viciously crapping all over said engineeer. THAT'S how he works.

Europeans and Blacks were largely separate for a long time. Slavery led to the mixing of blacks and Caucasians in the U.S. We see hybrid vigor demonstrated in almost every sports team in the country. The fact that we don't see the same in board rooms isn't proof of black inferiority, it's pretty obviously structural racism at work. If the playing field were level, some of us with parents from different continents would rise to the top in every endeavor. It's painful to watch this nonsense spread; our demographic choices were made two generations ago, and these people who "want my country back" could best contribute by no longer voting against their own interests.
How does hybrid vigor occur in sports?
@@rinkohorowitz In my tribe we have these things called "Google" and "ChatGPT". You pose a question, you get an answer. Plants show hybrid vigor as do animals. Despite our self-awareness, we are, all of us, just large, clever apes, so the same rules apply.

And because intelligence has so many qualities, it cannot be quantified in one general test."_
You're close, but not quite there.
IQ (intelligence quotient) tests are designed to measure certain cognitive abilities and skills, such as:
@@RichardHarlos I am not close. I am accurate. Why? Because intelligence is an opinion. And as an opinion, people will place value on that opinion.
Why? They're birthrates are fine. Mostly whites and Asians need to improve their birthrates.
IQ and other tests only test your ability to complete that kind of test. Imagine a Canadian sitting a test in India during summer when the test is in Indian standard English.

Ya, I'm a biologist and we know there is no such thing as race. Phenotype is the term to describe the differences between people from different areas of the globe. Brief periods of reproductive isolation lead to differences in the populations but IQ isn't necessarily one of those characteristics.
Exactly
Ah so Hes right ?
@@marvin2678 Which he were you referring to?
