Woo the noise! It's annoyingly loud! Is there a little 4-stroke (instead of the 2-stroke) engine that can swing a little bigger propeller to help quite those little airplanes down?
i just bought a j3 kitten by hipps superbirds, tell me i bought a good aircraft. Im a beginner pilot and i hear this aircraft good for training? hope i made a good choice! can any other kitten owners out there to tell me their story? is the kitten got good reputation, good quality and design? the price was right, couldnt pass it up, its brand new
Yes it's very good aircraft! Plans built one a couple decades ago. A few years back I built a modified version just added 8in'sto the length ,and 3in's to the width and used fiberglass to skin it with. Then put a stroke type 1 VW engine in and some 21 inch tires my weight still came in at 420 empty now with leading-edge slats I can say it's not only a rocket ship but it's stol performance is off the charts. Of course it's not an ultra-light and I do carry 23 gallons of fuel but hey when I average 45 miles per gallon it's now a true cross country plane and getting an N number was not that bad. My point is the j3 junior is such a performer, that's why I model my design after it! Happy flying. 👍 🤠🛩️
@@Ozarkprepper643 wow sounds like a nice build, you have any videos of it? Im putting a v-twin 65 hp rotax 4-stroke engine EFI 800cc 4 valve OHC in mine, engine weighs about 100 pounds, water cooled. its from a snowmobile platform. got a link to your modded craft?
@@sacooper802 no I don't,leastwise not that I know how to put on my UA-cam channel. Since all I have is my phone ,download speeds are too slow like hours and I am too remote, would need an internet dish and for as little as I would use it, I'm too damn cheap! LOL But perhaps one day I'll get it video or two on my UA-cam channel. That will definitely be a nice engine 800cc? That sounds like the ctec2 8000 from Arctic Cat if that's the case 65 horse is a conservative number more like 80 plus and they are torque monsters with the 2 1/2 to one speed reduction wow !!!! Power to the prop, woohoo !! weather rotac or Arctic Cat they are bulletproof reliable engines happy flying
I would love to have one! I used to stop in from time to time and visit with Mr. Hipp. He and his wife built and sold these kits, but sadly he passed away around 2009. I wanted a Kitten so bad but couldn't swing it back then. The Kitten was designed by Jesse Anglin and Mr. Hipp told me that he bought the jigs and rights to the designs a few years later. He also said he had a two place side by side prototype he had started working on but I never saw it myself. These are great little airplanes and did I mention I would still love to have one?
Yes like he said engine rotak has been making purpose-built light aircraft 2-stroke engines for decades they are the same ones that make reliable sled engines these engines usually come with redundant ignitions just like they're bigger counterparts though I don't have the specs in front of me I'd estimate its weight with speed reducer to be at around 80 lb
@@bluecarobs6733 don't pay attention to that foolish comment. The guy obviously has zero 2stroke related aviation knowledge and casually assessed a flying aircraft as not appearing noteworthy. Reeks of rampant stupidity
Wonderful little aircraft I have a J3 with a 503 down under in Australia just loves flying like your J3 with the 477
Awesome performance. What a great 50 foot obstacle clearance
Great flying!
Sounds awesome. What pipe is that??

Hello sir
What is rotax 447
Engine
Yes like he said engine rotak has been making purpose-built light aircraft 2-stroke engines for decades they are the same ones that make reliable sled engines these engines usually come with redundant ignitions just like they're bigger counterparts though I don't have the specs in front of me I'd estimate its weight with speed reducer to be at around 80 lb
NOISE IS JUST TERRIBLE.
Why so steep a climb. seems like you are near stall with such a steep climb...Check your CG..Seems tail heavy..
It just looks that way, rate of climb is dependent on power, weight and drag. The plane does climb out nicely though.
The junior is a very well balanced machine. and a blast to fly! and has done very well at stol competitions.
A very NOISY plane. Doesn't look very airworthy either. Can't make it through the whole vudeo. Every time he takes off I cringe at the noise. .👎👎👎
In what ways does it not look airworthy, just wondering

Muskrat yeah I don’t know very much about aircraft I just thought that it looks like a fun mini airplane.
