    Goooood evening guys!! 🌝
    If you’ve been following my Instagram today you know that I finished editing the video really last minute 😂
    Anyway, the important question is - what was my favourite food in Noboribetsu? I guess we know from my reaction 😂🍦

    Thank you for uploading this video. Going to Noboribetsu in October and still debating whether to stay at Sekisuitei or Daichi-Takimotokan. Looks like we got more food here seeing that you're allowed to go after the buffet item in addition to your kaiseki meals. And I noticed that the Seisuketei is more intimate.

    Buckwheat is a good substitute, if you find flour to be too dense. Or if you are trying to measure carbohydrate consumption. I grew up with buckwheat in pancakes. It can also be added to bread, muffin and cake making. Just reduce the amount of flour, and add buckwheat into the mix. It's similar to reducing sugar in a recipe. One can reduce sugar, and blend in substitutes like honey or brown sugar.

    I been to a lot of different onsen in japan. A lot of old or even historical ones. If it wasnt for people my sensei knows, i would have never known or able to visit there as a normal tourist. 😕
    For a country that eats a lot of rice, but when you go to these restaurants or inns, the menu does not include rice.😅

    Such beautiful presentations of the food at ryokans. And, the food are so healthy too!
    Are there local buses to these places such as Hell Valley? Or, do the hotels/ryokans provide tours?
    Thanks for another wonderful vlog! 🙏

    • @TokyoFoodieSarah
      @TokyoFoodieSarah  2 роки тому +1

      I had a look and there's a local bus that goes from the Noboribetsu station to Park Hotel (going through the onsen ryoka area). If you walk for about 10 mins from Park Hotel you can get to Jigokudani!
      Sekisuitei doesn't provide bus service to Jigokudani, but it's a 15 min walk!

    So I'm planning to visit next march and have a night at lake Toya before spending 4 nights at Sapporo. Do you think it's worth to drive to jigokudani from Sapporo? Are there any spots which are only accessible by car which u can recommend?

    • @TokyoFoodieSarah
      @TokyoFoodieSarah  Рік тому

      It’s about an hour drive from lake Toya to Jigokudani. I’d personally drive for an extra hour or two to have a look at Jigokudani. I thought it was quite interesting. I recommend all the places to visit in my “what to do” and “what to eat” videos in the Hokkaido series so you should take a look! In particular I recommend Kitchen Farm Yard near Sapporo for soup curry and Lake Hill farm near lake Toya for gelato 🥰 These places are only accessible by car!

  • @raga375
    @raga375 Рік тому

    I wonder what mode of transportation would you recommend for tourists to travel in Hokkaido (across different places, e.g. Hakodate, Lake Toya, Sapporo) during the winter?

    • @TokyoFoodieSarah
      @TokyoFoodieSarah  Рік тому +1

      It’s difficult to travel across Hokkaido if you don’t rent a car. But if you’re staying just within central Hakodate or just central Sapporo, you can use public transport.
      I’ve never driven across Hokkaido in the winter so here’s just based on what I found.
      You can rent a car with studless snow tires within Hokkaido. But because there’s snow you really need to be careful when driving. It’s best to schedule out your plans as you need to drive much slower in the winter.
      I hope that helps! 😊

    Wow! Look at all the seafood. Even though I'm Korean-American (if it matters), I don't like seafood. Go figure. I drove my mom to the breaking point. She told me when I was old 4 years old, I choked on a fish bone. Maybe that's why? But then again I should not have remember that incident. Anyways, I would love to visit Japan. I would not have any trouble finding food right? ;) HAHAHAHA!!!
    Oh about the soba, I notice you dunk the whole noodles into the soup. I only dunk about about half way. The soup is heavy for my taste. Mind you the soup comes from the Asian supermarket. The soup base from restaurants to heavy. Don't tell me I should've diluted first? D'oh!!!

    I stayed in Noboribetsu Manseikaku back in 2017 and it was pretty disappointing, but the area itself with all the 'hell' was interesting and worth visiting. It is part of the 'standard' tour of North Japan though, so we were surrounded by Korean, Taiwanese and mainland Chinese, but I imagine now it's all very local, which was what I would have preferred to have experienced.
