Glad you picked up Hiromi's performance.
Thanks for the request to him!
(And of course I watched your other reaction videos)
    May I brag?
I was fortunate enough to hear this performance at this very venue!
Although it doesn't show up on the video (it's a wonder it didn't show up in the lighting effects, even though I was so close!)
About 100 spectators sat in a circle around the band.
It was a really great performance, as you can see in this video!

Thanks for the great reaction Wave! I'm actually going to see Hiromi tomorrow with her new band SonicWonder, which is piano, drums, bass, and trumpet. Hiromi said in an interview once that if she puts "Sonic" into the name of her band then it means that the set of compositions she has written for that band involve heavy use of her synthesizer (as opposed to almost exclusively acoustic piano). Her mode of operation has been that she gets inspired to write a bunch of compositions for a particular ensemble makeup, and then handpicks her band around those compositions.

I’m going to see them in Austin on April 26.. so excited. I’ve been obsessed with her since 2011 and I needed to see her before I died.

Holy crap dude indeed! Hiromi is cool as hell! I've seen her live a bunch of times. Met her after one of the shows and took a picture with her, she's also very nice in person.

The drummer is Martin Valihora (from Slovakia) and the bassist is Tony Grey (from the UK, he's John McLaughlin's nephew), Hiromi went to Berklee with them both and they were her original live trio lineup.
The Sonicbloom lineup added guitarist David 'Fuze' Fiuczynski, most known for the jazz rock band Screaming Headless Torsos, though he's also one of the guitar professors at Berklee and toured Italy with Stewart Copeland for a project called Gizmo in '05.
The doubleneck guitar he's using here is a J. Gustavsson Fuze Blaster signature model. It has a twelve string short scale fretless neck on top and a seven string fretted where the top six strings are on a trem but the low B is a hardtail.

thats the first song i heard of her, kind of 15 years ago. 2010 i saw her in cologne. first row in the middle, playing her voice-tour.
i dont know if life will give me another moment like this. i really doubt it, but shes really worth it.
dig out the old tunes. old castle in the middle of a forest, if..., love and laughter, spiral, deep into the night, ... whatever. their drummer martin valihora was her best drummer for years. im glad she plays with a great one in her sonicwonder now. gene coye. love it!

Hiromi Uehara's Sonicbloom 'Time Out' She has been called "The most animated Player ever". In an interview David says that his 12 string with no frets is hard to play and it was a while before I noticed the the bass is 6 sting. I actually have a different version I like. She goes off to the side and starts jumping during the guitar solo.

want another peak hiromi song? get a hold of 'voice', her project with the anthony jackson and the simon phillips.
[side bit: there's an aussie music school ensemble that covered it, too.]
