I was going to build a stealthy van last year, but plans changed. After much consideration, I had decided to have it sign-written as a mobile dog wash! That way I could conceivably get away a couple of small, high windows, water/power inlets and even visible solar panels.
I should probably have kept quiet as now, by the time I get to do the build, I'll get to my first parkup and roll up next to three dog washes! 😂

Shaun, absolutely brilliant! Each and every van build is so thorough and helpful. I have even used some of your recommendations, over here across the pond in the US, in My Home with connecting solar panels. I live in Southwest Florida and have continually been hit with hurricanes that have been both devastating and also life-threatening to so many. Before this last storm, I bought the EcoFlow generator coupled with the EcoFlow wave to heat pump: which, as you know both Air Conditioning & Heating. Solar panels albeit small, came with the HVAC unit and also can be used on the lithium battery. While you were installing the solar panels on your van, I took special note of the wiring. Especially the fact that in my bedroom where I keep the air conditioning, EcoFlow wave two, I can now with certainty wire my panel outside where I get both western and southern light and hook it up to the wave and lithium battery. I think I’m babbling on so I’ll leave it there, ha! And again congratulations on your new baby. Blessings to all four of you Doug

I may be a lady I so enjoy your van builds, only problem in my mind having it as a work van that says Tools and possible lots you could be a sleep when some one with light fingers to to brake in. And cameras won’t stop them possible more than one of them. Good luck I can not wait to see you videos useing it. Thanks

You may want to be careful labelling as asbestos removal and then parking up in remote locations without a waste handling license number. Maybe stick with plastering - nobody would want an old milk crate and mixing bucket 😁

I wanted to stand up in my stealth van so I have Renault Trafic H2 L2. No windows in it just a plain white van. But the roof rack is brilliant to make it more like a work van. I have the new Fosibot F 3600 Pro, so I can use induction cooking, use my Starlink Mini and much more for days. And a 12Volt/USB camping shower, because those bags are no good.Asd a b
ed I have a Disco bed, that fits over the wheel arches, and then ha lots of space to put plastic crates under it.

when drilling the hole in the roof for the solar panel wires apart from the conduit that you used I would have also gone the extra step and added a rubber grommet to prevent evn further chaffing of the wires, the rubber grommet would also aid and help with the weatherproof of the roof area where the wires ocme through the roof for the solar panels

It was a good idea to use the wooden panels to mount your solar on. How cool would it have been if while you thought of that, you also considered mounting your access points underneath it which will add a degree of extra protection against water ingress 🤔

Good looking job . I ve always fancied the idea of a stealth van .
One thing that may be an issue is the paint possibly peeling off the galvanised roof rack. Ideally galvanised stuff likes to be aged before paint sticks well. You can artificially age it by using a product called "Morgans T " . Its a type of acid wash and helps the paint stick. Or theres probably a specialist primer you could use. May not be an issue , will just have to see how it lasts.

I like the project, although can't help but think that a builders van will actually attract unwanted attention from thieves thinking there are tools inside, especially if they don't think anyone is in there. If you get one of those revolving roof vents you sometimes see on the top of things like gas vans it should fit under or behind your roof rack boards and give you another ventilation for when you want to be so stealthy that you can't open the skylight or it would give the game away

An idea for future builds, put the cable entry points under the Solar panel, they are less visible and sheltered from the rain (less chance of leaks if the mastic ever lifts over time (Belt & braces).
Great build so far, these are good, makes me want to build another van 💗🙏
Will you do a link to bits you use? I'd not seen one of those solar isolators before, mind you, I built my SWB Vivaro high top in late 2019, guess things have evolved since then? But it's still working and going strong 🤞🙏😁

Hi mate love watching you videos, but i definitely wouldn't be making my camper van look like a builder's van unless you want to come back to it one day with it broken into .the amount of builder's vans i see now days with plates over the doors where they have been broken into is crazy. I recently saw a builder's van that had been broken into while it was on the residents driveway. It was a 24 plate transporter from national car rental and they peeled the side door open so much it looked like a picnic table .

I’ve got plenty of friends that have work vans in Cornwall and they never have an issues with break ins so I’m not worried. And if it does get broken into it’ll make great content.!

Like how this is coming along. The ladder is innovative, but an alternative could have been a couple of pipe tubes instead. Could have used them also for some poles for an awning etc. Just an idea.

Agreed but you can't make it look like a plumbers, electricians or carpenters van as they arw the most targeted for theft

I had the same idea of fixing my all powers portable solar panel on my van roof but after researching the panels are only IP66 rated so not good for UK weather to be honest

If you live in the van everyday then probably not but if you only use it a couple times a week then it should be enough

Great idea, the issue I can see is if it's sign written (real or not) you would have to insure it as a commercial vehicle and not a camper??

      No you wouldn’t.

@LoveSundays yes looking it to it you can insure it as a camper. You just have to declare the sign writing as a modification with the looks of it.

@@wagonman63 exactly. I sure it as a camper and just declare all the modifications you’ve made to the van.
