I had some c16 from B&Q leftover and my tomahawk went through it with ease less than 3 quid for 2.4m works out cheaper than bag of kindling, I still got the extra what i needed just from the dead wood on the floor. I really fancy one of the pomoly tipis for winter camping they look excellent my current selection of tents aren't wood stove compatible
@@RS-xq6je I'm one of them campers that need a fire. For light and warmth. Dunno how some people go without it. I remember in the middle of winter we had a roaring fire and I had to get out my bag because the heat radiating off my body was exceptional.
I'm in the market for a new medium sized axe. The maul is too big and heavy, it may be fun to split wood with it, but I am clumsy and an accident is waiting to happen. Russ in the comments on this video sent me a cracking Ray Mears video that's got a far more convenient way of splitting wood.
Have you tried the firelogs? B&M do them for a pound and many petrol stations have them for £2. The burn for 2 hours if you have a small fire. Heavy, but worth it for heat or to get a fire started.
Yeah I know the tents you are on about. Colin Russel is forever using it. Looks quite spacious as well and ideal for you and the wee ones. You going to invest in one then?
Wow really nice scenary, looks like Canada!
The place I want to visit the most as well :) Would love to visit the coldest of spots, like Yellowknife. Are you from there?
@@MontyOutdoors I wish, no just watch Joe Robinet and Justin Barbour alot.
@@Tsamados Joe is actually one of my influences. Will take me a while to reach that level of skill and quality content.
Is the car park free at Loch Trool? I found a gravel car park that was similar from the video and I'm guessing thats where you parked?
Yes, mate. If it's the one on the west side of the loch and you turn right to get to it, that's the one. There is also one further up near Bruce's Stone.
Hope this helps.
@@MontyOutdoors Ah right thanks! Think I found the one the on the west side. Wasn't sure, if it was free parking or not. Cheers in advance
@@rhysgriffiths7429 You are welcome, mate. There's plenty of parking spots so you won't have any issues.
THE GALLOWAY MIDGE EVIL THINGS
Robert, as I said to another person, I thought they only existed around central belt and northwards. I've been told Loch Doon can be bad - zero issues myself, - Stincher Bridge and now Loch Trool. I have never seen it that infested in my life.
@@MontyOutdoors i fish lots of the hill burns and lochs for wild brown trout mate even with my midge net on i have to pack in sometimes stay safe thanks for your reply
@@robertgibson7716 Yeah, someone said the same happened to them at Ballochling Loch so they bailed. I have a DD tarp a large anti mosquito net which I hope does the trick one day, but to be honest, I aim for windy days if I am going camping. Warm calm days and it's to the beach.

Thank you for sharing.
ATB Dan. 👍👍👍👍
More to come, Dan. Still testing a few things out on what I want to do with my videos, but I will focus on natural sounds, scenery, setup, and minimal dialogue - dialogue only occurs when describing setup, location, etc,.
Thanks or the cracking comment as per though, mate.
@@MontyOutdoors love the Galloway forest, myself and my mates should of been camping there but lockdown stopped us.hopefully get there in September.
@@CampingDan85 Favourite spot? Loch Doon is great for an easy, casual wild camp but my beach loch video was probably my favourite.
