Good to see your chickens are working out for you John. Hope you have a blessed week my friend.
Chickens are a great livestock animal and my number 1 pick for survival homesteading. Yours had enough time hugging! 😆
Fly Be Freeeeee!
I love my chickens too! Definitely worth having
Awesome on the chickens doing their job and laying some eggs!!
Them mini dinosaurs will eat about anything!! Seen them eat a mouse and frog years ago!!
*Have a good'nnn*
Chicken normally lay egg a day. But make sure you put a light in there coop. Looking good John next need pigs.
Hi John, chickens look great! ..nice job!
I have so,e myself…Massachusetts law says minimum purchase of chicks is 6. They apparently are a flock animal that need minimum of 6 for good social health…hence the law… my 6 chickens started laying 5-6 eggs a day from 4 months til now…(2.5 years old) depending on bread…they slow to 4-5 eggs per day in winter. Mine need 12 hrs plus of day light to keep laying. Some people place an led build on timer for an extra hour or 2 to keep certain breeds laying all winter…I don’t need or want to do that. Please provide and occasional chicken update as they are so important these days…and free fertilizer to boot!…lol
Take care …
Frank
Beautiful chickens!! You have your own compost eating ladies ! ❤
thank you they are great little ladys so far.
John get the scratch grains now that they are laying good. Less expensive and they will still produce same eggs per day.
I wish I had your access to oyster shells. They are expensive at feed store. But thats what I give my chickens. I love my chickens, so easy to have and and take care of and great source for lots of eggs and meat. Summertime increases laying. Also increased protein source of insects and grubs and worms helps. I open range, then lock up at night. I dont use processed feed. Only cracked corn, sunflower seeds, and lots of scraps and garden veggies. Dried cat food in winter. I have an incubator and have started several flocks for others. Your ladies look very healthy and loved!
Also, I never use lights nor heat in the coop. They acclimate by themselves, even during our harsh winters. They need a break sometimes from laying-and a light would force them to lay more in winter.
Order live oysters online, smoke em, enjoy them, then bash the shells up with a hammer. Not cheap, but at least you get to enjoy smoked oysters on the half-shell.
Chickens are cool! They teach your kids how to walk with style!!!!!!
I’m glad it’s working out great
glad you enjoyed the up date you did ask for one.
I've always wondered if the chickens can taste "oyster" in the shells. Kind of like, luxury food for them even though it's the calcium and minerals you're going for.
It's pretty awesome that they're all so docile!
@Ernie Hatmaker some breeds will be super docile with owners if they are gently handled often while growing up.
Isa Browns are particularly docile and friendly ... beautiful birds and egg source to boot!
Nice Chickens John. With 6 hens, you will average 4 to 5 eggs a day. They will slow down during the Winter. Also, they will stop during Fall while they molt. (Lose feathers to grow new ones). They will eat meat; I have seen our chickens eat mouse that dared to cross their paths.
Nothing like fresh home-grown eggs, tastes way better, yolks much darker.
Thanks for the info there are a few little mice that go in there at nite to eat some crumble and the other day i saw blood in the coop maybe they attacked one.i hope so.
Its always worth having chickens around.
Hello I'm loving your channel which I've just found today and looking forward to following you and the chickens this year. Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul :)
I heard Robert has beans in his pocket for you lmbo
nice chicken update. We understand you forget sometimes with your age and all
Hey mate. Good to see you again. Now, you do not have chickens. You have chooks (pronouced like "look" but swap the L for a ch sound). As you discovered, chooks have personality. Each bird is very different. I love mine. They will process your organic waste and feed you back protein in the form of eggs. How good is that? It's amazing what 50,000 years of joint evolution can create. Stay well my friend. ROFL. That squatting pose they do when you pat them is a mating pose. They are being submissive so you can mount them. Yeah, freaked me out when I learned that too.
My favorite rooster got all my animals kicked out :(
They are happy at the farm
5th!
