I love this scene so much!!! Watching this in real time was AWESOME and we, as viewers, were SHOOK when it aired!!! As much as I was already a dedicated fan of the show, Tiffani Amber Thiessen's addition to the cast and portrayal of Valerie kept me hooked for the next several seasons!!! I sincerely wish Tiffani, and the Val character, received more credit for keeping the show popular and the storylines juicy beyond the "OG cast years"!!!
Funnily enough, Valerie states that Brenda leads a "Charmed Life", when just four years later, Shannen Doherty would land a lead role in a little show called "Charmed."
Tiffani Thiessan must have had fun acting like Valerie was going to be another squeaky clean good girl like Kelly Kapowski in her first episode, only to reveal her true colours by the end. Kelly and Valerie definitely wouldn't like each other if they ever met.
Kelly K. was so squeaky clean it was ridiculous. I like Valerie's short hair here. She looks really cute. Unlike the rest of the female cast when they had short haircuts.
I agree Donna looked horrible with short hair because it drew attention to her long face. Kelly was pretty enough to get away with anything but looked better with longer hair. Val always looked amazing.
I did too, and being a member of Team Brenda, I stopped watching this show altogether after this episode with the exception of watching Kelly nearly die in a fire and at the hands of Tara.
The show wasn’t the same without Shannon Doherty. Tiffani was brought on board to replace her and while I still liked her character, she couldn’t replace her. I do recall they would reference Brenda at times so she still existed in the show but was never seen. I think she lived in London but somehow could never come back to Beverly Hills. They could have had her character die but they chose to leave the door cracked open in case she ever returned.

Eventually, a lot of the main cast left. Even Jason Priestley himself stopped appearing on the show. He was strictly just a producer. By the end, the show was terrible.

This my thing, Valerie may have had a Dark side but I gave her a complete pass with this simply because her whole character was Kelly’s Karma for how she treated Brenda all the years on the show. I LOVED Valerie’s character. She just didn’t let anybody run over her including Kelly and that’s what Kelly really hated. Valarie just gave her Competition

It’s kind of ironic that she would use a hand double to roll a joint when she smoked cigarettes and pot in real life back in the day. I remember being eager to see her in a different role from Kelly Kapaowski. Watching her as Valerie Malone she some across as a phony or trying to hard. Most die hard 90210 fans I still know think Shannon Doherty was the better actress than Tiffani.
She actually caught alot of backlash initially from hardcore Saved by the Bell fans for taking on the role of Valerie. The same way her former costar Elizabeth Berkeley faced criticism for her role in Showgirls after playing the headstrong feminist Jesse Spano.
I always liked Valerie, especially her relation to Brandon. I wish both would have end up together, although there are so different. I mean Brandon was the good guy and Valerie more the bad girl..
Valerie is basically what Brenda would've become had she not been raised by loving stable parents. Sure, she still had her rebellious moments, but she didn't cross the line at times like Valerie did.
Valerie was essentially Brenda with a troubled upbringing. Brenda had loving parents and a brother who always wanted the best for her. Valerie, on the other hand, had an abusive childhood due to her father molesting her. And her mother just looked the other way.
I got so sick of the promos for the Valerie character. Kelly saying "She's the girl that's going to be staying in Brenda's room" must have been played a 100 times.
I remember watching this scene going that’s the first time I have seen Tiffani act so mean. After years of watching her on saved by the bell, it was weird to see her act like such a bytch!

Season 8 was so bad i only cared about val & her moms story which was 100x more horrible than kellys bs w/ jackie who rocked & felice who read her id😮iot donna who xrezsed as trashy as possible than tried the im a virginal lucille ball. Btw noah so raped val!!! I was so done in zeason 8 but that story horrified me.
