I love how Tiffani Thiessen was able to shed that sweet little good girl Kelly Kapowski image and became such a bitch with Valerie... and I love both characters.
And did it very quickly. So many actors/actresses who played "good" iconic characters try to do a total 180. I can't think of too many who did it better than Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski and Valerie Malone) and Larry Hagman (Tony Nelson and JR Ewing).
After Brenda left producers tried to make Kelly be like Brenda and valerie look like Kelly going after every guy. Yet I prefer Valerie because she' s more honest. Kelly was always hiding her true colours and ofcourse Kelly couln't at all be like Brenda

U're partially correct, Tiffany & Jennie are great friends in real life. But in sea 8 & 9 they were roomies only because was in a relationship w/ Brandon. Kelly was making the transition from living with Donna to living Brandon. Kelly and Val only put up with each for the sake of Brandon's happiness. There was no real indication of friendship until Kelly discovered the root of Val's deceitful habits, Val's guilty conscious over killing her father and dysfunctional relationship with her mother.

She was the stereotypical shy, insecure dump/clueless blond innocent christian girl who evolved into a strong, sexually libriated, professional, well spoken character on the show. She (to me went through the most dramatic character change. Kelly changed a little and got her famous Kelly cut hair style (which she ditched the last few seasons) but she didnt change much.
I couldn't stand the character, Valerie Malone. She could be so two-faced and cruel. However she did have her moments of compassion and caring for others so at least there was good in her too.
