@@lilcraftkid It wasn’t the screeching for me so much as it was the lead horn(? Whatever the lead guitar is playing in this version). You know that Spongebob meme about that one version of a song with the wrong notes? That’s what grates me about DS Nell’s theme in addition to just how lackluster that lead was.
This version doesn't have the claps from black hole rising, those claps make sound like urban hip hop at the beginning
It was so weird how so many of the returning themes in DS sounded horrible but all the new themes sounded good.
@@EvilMagnitude The Dual Strike versions of the old tracks sound like somebody took the MIDI files from the old games and used less compressed versions of the original sounds to make it sound less like GBA music. The thing is, those songs were most likely composed around having the lo-fi compressed sounds. Digital audio compression usually sacrifices some of the high end frequiencies of the audio to make the file smaller. The samples in the DS versions sound harsh and grating because they bring back the high end frequencies that the songs weren't originally composed with. This probably wasn't done intentionally, it was probably a side effect of porting the old music over to the DS that went unnoticed or just wasn't enough of a priority to fix.
The music alone was worth $60 to me
I always loved all the record scratches in Advance Wars songs, so I'm happy that the remake amplified them.
The guitar at 0:43 just made the entire song even better!!! The person that played that part really hit those notes!!

Absolutely nailed this one. I was afraid to hear a non-fitting instrument for the melody but damn, that guitar hits just right.
the green earth theme gelt slightly non-fitting with it's chello, should have been some kind of trumpet
22 years later and its still just as good as i remember it, they did amazing with the remastered soundtrack
I don't really like the remastered 3d graphics, but ost is perfect

Black Hole finally getting something more visually distinct for their naval unit designs (battleships and cruisers especially) is a big fuckin win though lul

You need to beat Rivals to unlock her, but I consider her worth the trouble.

Maybe one day Advance Wars will get its Smash Bros Moment with Sami getting in Smash but I’m not opposed to having Andy and him fighting with the Wrench of his, nobody else in Smash uses a Wrench 🔧

As I understand it: after beating The Final Battle, all the alternate paths through Blue Moon and Green Earth will unlock again. Beating all of these will unlock Rivals, and beating Rivals will unlock Nell.
