    Great video! I really admire your thought process and the quality of your videos. One thought though. Do you think not releasing a video until it's ready makes it easy for you to be stuck in analysis paralysis. Because nobody will ever be fully happy with what they put out all the time? I ask myself the same question from time to time so would love to get your thoughts. And the unfortunate part of YT is that virality is rewarded and not quality. Have you tried different types of videos to see what works? Mind mapping, while a great tool, can seem a bit abstract on videos. Maybe solving for that could be one approach?
    Just suggestions from a good Samaritan. Love your videos. All the best🎉

    Absolutely blown away by the depth of this video! 🚀The concept of 'decide' stemming from the Latin term DEA, meaning 'to cut off,' frames decision-making in such a profound way. It's like navigating a vast maze of possibilities, and each choice becomes a deliberate cut, shaping our unique journey.
    The idea that goals are interconnected like a solar system, and that we often overlook the series of projects and decisions required, hits close to home. The 'honeymoon period' is relatable - that initial burst of enthusiasm fades if not fueled by a robust decision-making process.
    What resonated most is the emphasis on values. The analogy of values as a 'magical compass' is spot on. They act as a North Star, providing clarity amidst the chaos of choices. It's intriguing how a strong value system not only guides but also evolves as we pursue our goals.
    Sharing a personal reflection: Mapping out guiding values has been a game-changer for me. Like the speaker, I realized the importance of aligning my work with values that truly matter. This approach adds meaning and purpose, making each project more fulfilling.
    Now, I'm curious about your experiences. How have your values influenced your decisions? Have they ever led you to unexpected, positive outcomes?

      Thank you again for your enriching comment. I'm eager to hear more from you and others about how values influence/have influenced you in your own path!

      @@ShengHuang. I chose “north Star” as my you - tube name to , like yourself, help people find the light of their guiding Star. To find their purpose in life. Thus what they value. Get that straight and your path through life travels straighter and higher a defining word for it is mastery.

    I’m 73. Tonight I saw your video of 4 years ago ago and subscribed. Your tips then and now are very good. When I was 27 I was the youngest in Atlantic Richfield petroleum company doing what you are doing, mostly 3,000 activity- 3 year construction projects. Such as the Alaskan pipeline. A BIG. Part in success, including personal, is using your values to weed out all the opportunities-goals you are capable to pursue but discard because they do not define you or advance you It’s like being able to strum all the cords on you guitar, able to play thousands of songs but you don’t advance to strumming plus picking thus achieve mastery

      It is an honor to be of service to you my friend. I appreciate your perspective because I know they come from experience, trial and error, success and failure. More than opportunities, it is putting ourselves out there, closing feedback loops, and (most importantly) learning from them that defines who we are. It is from these retrospectives and introspections that our true personal values emerge - from within rather than with-out.

    One of your best videos, for sure! Curiously, I was making a mind map last night and I reached the same conclusions you talked about, and it really does make you reframe your life perspective better 😁🙌

    Thank you Sheng! It's not the algorithm or your ego, I think re: subs... - still too many people worship at the alter of 'apps' and the concept of pen, paper, deep retrospection, reflection, contemplation... have been conditioned out of them by 'the infinite scroll'. You don't have as many subs as someone who just reviews productivity apps, but you have the loyal following of those you have actually helped, like me. Very happy you refuse to compromise your values and principles, that's rare today.

      I appreciate that very much. These past 5 months you might have noticed that I haven't published much - a content freeze in order to free up time and space to explore a) who I want to serve, b) what I want to say, and c) how I want to say it. In the process, I've realized and truly come to terms with the fact that number of subs don't matter. Rather it is the quality of both the message and the audience that makes the biggest difference. After all, our reality is shaped ultimately by our perspective. To the extent that I'm able to shift that at the individual level, that is more than enough. Thank you for tuning in now and then my friend. ❤

    I started subscribing to your channel back when you had less than 10k followers and enjoyed your videos, but unsubbed a few months back when you started posting multiple videos of a podcast/interview with another guy and I felt like it was a lot of talking but not much insights ("noise"). I'm glad you found your way back and I've subscribed again 😊

      Yes we do. I think us influencers have a heavy responsibility as modern philosophers. Because the world changes based on ideas, we must be careful what we share and how we share it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼

    Live by values (long term)......step forward with goals........?????

    • @ShengHuang
      @ShengHuang  8 місяців тому

      Hey Larry :) Yes goals are still important. I tend to live mine in 2 week sprints. Though at the moment on my sabbatical, I'm trying out the goal-less approach of taking it a day at a time. It's been healing so far.

    But what about lack of integrity? If one is unable to bring his actions into harmony with his values?

      @mck9004, you might find this Epiphany enlightening: www.mindmapnation.com/epiphany/the-3rd-line. There I define what Integrity is: "Integrity is having the awareness to recognize and the discipline to correctly prioritize the life lines...Integrity is the traffic controller that makes sure the lines don’t cross and crash. When you have this clarity and discipline, life becomes less ambiguous and it’s easier to live by our choices."

    lil tip - your thumbnail is letting down the video, because you already tell the viewer the answer in the thumbnail, leaving less curiosity to discover the "why" - why don't you change the text to something like "this one thing" instead!

    • @KK-sg5gl
      @KK-sg5gl 8 місяців тому +1

      Hell no. I’m not sure if it’s just me. But I’m getting sick of shit like that. I wouldn’t have watched the video at all if that’s what the thumbnail said.
      I suspect others feel the same way, that we’re sick of the clickbait and him being exactly what he hated.

    Hey Sheng, just wanted to say thanks for this video. Mind mapping has been an integral tool for me ever since I encountered it in a book I've read before. Giving your twist makes it much more interesting than drawing the lines. We need more value creators nowadays, popular or not, it's what we do that matters.

    • @ShengHuang

      Hey there! I'm so glad you reached out and shared your thoughts. It's heartening to hear that mind mapping has been a valuable tool for you, and I'm thrilled that my take on it added an interesting twist to your experience! You're absolutely right-what we do, the value we create and share, truly matters, regardless of popularity. It's feedback like yours that motivates me to keep exploring, creating, and sharing! Cheering you on, honestly.
