I can understand why people don’t like some of the Halo 4/5 art style and ships. While I do agree with some of them I have to say I love this ship’s design. I think it is a good mix of old and new.
@@gammacompanymark I thought this was the long unseen Covenant frigate, when I first saw it... Also, in the opening cutscene, over Kamchatka, I could have sworn these looked smaller, relative to the Covenant Brigantines nearby. Maybe nearer 1 km, initially?
I like 343 era vehicles except the Warthog, and I hate all of the 4/5 Covenant race designs and ALL of the armor for Spartans and Covenant. I think the UNSC Marines are the only ones that come out good in those two.
People not liking CHAD 4 AND GOD 5 is the same as old people saying old times were better Theyre just copping with their pitty useless boring lifes, living on nostalgia because of how sad their lifes are now, unable to move on That and bad taste
Actually, yeah, I can see the Sangheili making these ships prior to meeting the Prophets, it would also stand to reason that being the heads of the convenet military arm Covenent ships would have taken after Sangheili designs. But the worship of the Forerunners and the Prophets being dicks just kind of, overwrote Sangheili culture. Another thing to note, creatures living under the sea are typically much larger than land-bound creatures of the same nature, so taking the more aquatic nature of Sangheili ships, and the fact that space ships are essentially surrounded by a deadly abyss, and I think the Sangheili actually had a primarily submarine based navy to begin with, their space-craft taking after the designs of submarines rather than surface-based crafts.
I mean the whole reason the Prophets and the Sanghelli fought a war to begin with was Sanghelli saw it as sacreligious to tamper with Forerunner tech in the first place. They were already spacebound before they ever met the Prophets so their tech would have had it's own footprint/visual style, much like Brutes. They fought them to a standstill until the Prophets used the Forerunner Dreadnought, which they wouldn't be able to shoot for religious reasons. I imagine the meshing of the two religions would've been a little.. Contentious.. Honestly a civil war started by the Sanghelli was long overdue, but I imagine they fought their own version of the UNSC/separatist wars. It'd be interesting to know just how much overall design input they had on the military designs or how much of that flowed from their species. Also ship size doesn't necessarily matter, it's more about what it's role is and how it's used rather than size constraints. The Covenant in general design with a lot of high ceilings and open spaces in their ships.
@@midnightfenrir I agree with everything you have said, except for the Brutes, they don't have a distinct style or anything, and they most certainly were not spacebound, they were an industrial era species, and their tech looks different because it is actually inferior to covenant tech, and does not use the same advanced manufactory technologies like the Covenant Forges.
@selenaautufuga7597 according to lore they did get into an early to mid space age before nuking themselves into an iron age existence. They just got back into the industrial age when the Covies showed up
@@selenaautufuga7597 They still have the most advanced Gravitics tech of any modern species. Also, I'd say they definitely have a style of their own. They have their own weapons and vehicles in Halo 3, which all look relatively similar.

@@allosaurus_0079 Yeah that confused me as well, but I'm pretty sure those numbers apply to the modern forces that use the ships. Although I wouldn't be surprised if ancient sangheili used some kind of slavery or indentured servant system, they are pretty toxic lol
I have spent hours in Guardians campaign counting these ships to try and gauge the fleet strength of both the Swords of Sanghelios and the Storm Covenant. Same with the other Sangheili ships of the line in game. Overcharging starship weaponry is such an Elite thing to do. I remember a Shipmaster in Ghosts of Onyx overcharging the plasma lance of his ORS to disable the shielding and destroy the frigate said shield was protecting in a single volley. Now that the Elites are rediscovering the shipbuilding methods of their ancestors, I wonder what vessels of war we will bear witness to in the years to come...
@@ItsButterBean1020 My estimate for the Storm Covenant's fleet of Sangheili ships: -Brigantines:5 -Carracks:3 -Blockade Runners:26 -Man O' Wars:4 As well the Swords of Sanghelios: -Brigantines:3 -Carracks:3 -Blockade Runners:11 -Man O' Wars:6 -Type-56 Lich:1 While I have a more extensive collection of notes on the division of these ships between the various levels, that would be take a heck of a lot of time to type out. Thanks for taking an interest in my conclusions!
I like the look but it is way too big to be a Corvette but one cool idea would be if they refitted it adding more weapons and re classed it as a fast Battleship/battlecruiser which would fit the war it fight's.
If theres 1 thing 343 did right, its the Sangheili and their traditional ship designs in my oppinion. Especially their behemoth the Lursu class carrier
The older weapon is powerful in closer engagements. From a schlock mercenary comic, they are bringing a knife to a gun fight. Especially when they slipspace into a war zone the power is out for a little while
The fact that almost all ships in halo are bigger than the 1000 meters I would love to see a Star Wars vs halo space battle. Even if the weapons are different the fact that halo ships are bigger than Star Wars ships it’s interesting
Yeah, for sure, allthough the covenant corvette in reach is bigger than the unsc frigate, but going by class shouldn't the frigate be bigger? Unless all covenant ships are bigger in general which makes sense.
sabgheili did study forerunner tech, but from afar mostly (not direct poking around. more handling like relics that can do stuff). some did poke around illegaly though. and humans had all knowledge erased, not just reset to bronze age. full early stone age. we also had our lifespans shortened, mind slowed and body weakened. though that slowly reverts back to original, with or without gene editing
and sangheilli used assembly forges early on. i have a theory that the early assembly forges where created by basicly taking samples of forerunner asembler nanobots like you would split a bacteria strain, feeding both back to original volume, and then using the split colony for manufacturing. this would explain the high technology used inefficiently and mutated designs, as each split away from og forerunner assembly vats worsens the nanobot strain, like a mutating yeast strain. so high tech could be made with low understanding of technology. like stc's in warhammer 40k. humans have lower tech effectively, but know more about tech (besides how to care for assembly forges and use them)
Something I noticed is the sanghelios mission has the blockade runner in white, but everywhere else in game is clearly blue, different paint? or faction? Kinda like some covenant cruisers are blue, but some like the elefan pattern are white.

Fast, heavily armed and lightly armored is a battlecruiser, not a corvette. "Missiles fire backwards, someone tell spacedock" made me giggle uncontrollably. Love the reference.
It's probably less that the Sangheili didn't make any use of Forerunner tech whatsoever, and more just that they learned from it and made their own rather than engaging in the Covenant practice of literally repurposing existing Forerunner artifacts Edit: Yeah lmao that's what the encyclopedia says about the Man o' War
