Neo is truly a frightening enemy. Just imagine having someone chase you, you know about it. But, she can be anyone at any time. And she's plenty skilled enough to fight even the strongest of enemies.
@@maxsotomayor3674 I'm leaning the other way, I think she'll either be killed or left trapped in the everafter. Much like Roman, Neo has zero remorse for the stuff she's done and seems to take pleasure in the things she does. Adorable little ice cream psycho? Yes. Redeemable? No. I mean at least Emerald, for all the awful crap she did, has shown true remorse. Plus by this point Neo's pretty much gone off the deep end similar to how Adam did. Although if "Neo" is actually a renegade semblance and the heroes can kill her, it might free "Trivia." from its control. Either way, I think "Neo" will die, its just a question of it "Trivia" survives.

@@dreadrath: that is not just dark. It’s flat out immoral. They can’t willfully feed Neo to the tree without becoming monsters themselves. It's kind of sad how Neo was considering befriending Cinder through their time spent together, but Cinder openly proves she's nothing but a manipulative weasel at every chance she gets.
Neo’s story is a individual whose purpose in life is seeking revenge. However her purpose has gone through many stages of betrayal she could eventually know her intentions is seeking bloodshed- more so she would lose her identity- she has to climb above her ambitions to find the truth about her purpose
Notice how Rubys eyes flared in the last scene? They usually activate when she wants to protect life, right? And they flared up after Cinder made clear she was gonna off Neo. Did she feel protective of her? This might be the first step of a redemption arc
More like she wanted to preserve her friends who were still fighting, Neo was just her life line for potentially getting back to her friends. Ruby gives zero craps about Neo, hell even in volume 3 she sent Neo flying off the airship without blinking, she also watched Roman get eaten and didn't feel a shred of pity for either of them since to her, they're just lunatic villains bent on destroying the world. Hell she basically forgot the two existed after volume 4 until Neo returned again and even now she doesn't seem to care what Neo's motives are and was fully prepared to kill Neo earlier in the fight when trying to knock her into the abys.
@@dreadrath You know, thinking about it, that might be even further character development for Ruby in V9. In the tales she's so fond of, the stories tend to paint very black and white pictures of heroes and villains. Of course RWBY does have those types of irredeemable villains like Cinder and Tyrian, but there are a lot of villains that fall on the grey scale such as Neo and Emerald. And Ruby has a history of writing off many of the antagonists as just evil. When she turned on Ironwood, she didn't have sympathy for him at all. When Roman died, zero sympathy. When she learned about Salem, she didn't once ask how to save Salem. She's delved a little bit into the morally grey scale like with Cordovin and Emerald, but this could be a chance for her to have to learn about Neo's pain, and understand there's more to the antagonists than simple lunatic villains. Hell, if they go this route, they might even be able to use Ruby understanding Neo to gain the sympathy to wonder how to save Salem. Because saving Salem would halt the very conflict she's set out to fight against. I dunno, kind of interesting to think about.
@@grimm6506 The difference is pretty simple. Emerald showed a growing sense of inner-conflict (Which always lost out to her weird loyalty to Cinder) She grew a conscience. Though don't get me wrong, Emerald did a shit ton of awful stuff, though at least there was some part of her that questioned it. Neo however is a full blown psychopath, she was grinning happily when she was about to skewer an unconscious Yang (Suggesting she'd murdered people before and clearly enjoys is), she was swaggering among the corpses of the Atlas Military personal she'd murdered on Ironwood's main ship then she was whooping it up with Roman when he was blowing Atlas ships out of the air to crash on the city below, reveling in the destruction. Bottom line is Neo has absolutely no remorse, she's sadistic, probably insane and seems to really enjoy killing, and she owns it without a shred of shame. I won't say Emerald never took joy in her work, she did have that air of smugness in vol 2 and 3, but even then she always came off as being far less unhinged, sadistic and bloodthirsty than Neo was. Frankly though, I don't think either of them deserve redemption, its just one deserves it less than the other. Redemption should only possible up to a certain point, and they both crossed that line long ago.

That’s because the plot demands they each attack once at a time.
