- In this video, I estimate how difficult each civilization is for competitive gameplay. I use 3 criteria: win conditions, quick decision making and macro & transitions. You can pause and check out captions for each civilization (I gloss over each one a bit)
Tier list is at 22:30

Scientific analysis, I like your work, especially the conclusion which is highlighting the fact that your video is offering us a new frame to analyse the difficulty. I don't know if your criterias are the best and if you applied them proprely or even if we can find better ones, but it is of course a great way to start ranking civs on something else than just the personal judgement or experience of a pro player.
Extremely insightful and a unique video, please do more of these!
I really wish food sources on the map were made stronger so all civs had to go for them some. I think fighting for food, then fighting for relics, then fighting for gold is such a great progression and it's too bad so many civs skip whole parts of that now.
That's is right, totally agreed
wow really good. Do more of these! youre totally right
Conq 2 only French player here. Some of us just love challenges😅
Great video! Very informative
As a gold player, I am watching this
good stuff man!
Great video!
nice content

more content please
I main French at 1040 elo and I find it to be the easiest but everyone has informed me it's hard to French. I know how to get a massive boom happening with French trade stacked with the guild hall. It's silent booming with less micromagement needed. Then you just take favourable fights along your trade line using flexible army compositions because a booming style French isn't married to knights and arbs only.
Nice video! I appreciate the approach, although the results are somewhat odd.
Like in the case of Delhi and Malians. They are respectively second last and last in popularity at time of writing. If they are as easy to win with as you claim, why isn't everyone playing them? Both Japan and Byz are very popular as well as HRE and English (the most popular by far).
I'm not saying your opinion is necessarily wrong, I just feel there might be something here that your analysis is failing to grasp, although I'm not sure what.
Thx!
I think there is more to civ pickrates than simply "how strong/easy a civ is". For example, consider the following:
1. How versatile is the civ: you are forced into the same strategy with Malians all the time, and sometimes you want to play a different style
2. How approachable the civ is: Delhi might be easy to play when you know its basics, but if you never played it, it would look alien to you
3. How "good" it feels to play the civ: maybe people just don't like making pit mines and cows, and now having access to horsemen/crossbows
Analysing pickrates is a whole different topic, I'm not sure I want to get into it hahah
You considered the micro you need to use for cavalry civ but not for javelin trowers ? I would say malians 4-5 only for his micro side in feudal , castle is just spam horses so is ok .
