This episode needs to be recognised with an award of some kind. Properly insightful and speaks to something bigger than just skateboarding
I was literally comingg to the comments to write something similair, this episode is something truly special
1000% agree
P
Any timestamps or anything specific I should focus on? I’ll watch it all no matter. Just wondering what made you come post 😊
@@protestthisyouloser1093from 1 hour 30 min it gets pretty heavy. Jamie talkin about feeling dissed by the Chris Cole Motivation documentary. And talkin about how Chris got back on the team. Jamie is really open about it all haha
As a 30 year old who grew up on these two legends, this was a great podcast. Thank you gentlemen. 🤘
Same. I've listened to it so many times, so interesting
Jeron has really blossomed into an excellent interviewer himself. He’s a key ingredient to the flow of this podcast
Which one is jeron
@@baseball90242 ...
I agree with you. Love Jeron.
Jerry has really blossomed into a great UA-cam commenter.
Buttery comment
Love these iconic duo episodes lately. We need a Geoff and Arto episode now!
brilliant idea
Mcrank and Koston. Or Prod and Koston 😊
Dude, yes
Oh yeah!! Definitely
If they could get Penny on here.
I rode many Zero boards and was heavily influenced by these two growing up. Thank you for this
Me too dying to live first video
Couldn’t have said it better
Misled youth changed my life.
Still am :)
Dying to live was so amazing. Still is.
Cole's analogies and Thomas' brutal wisdom are on turbo mode in this episode.
Cole’s Paul Rudd Hot Ones reference at 1:42:44 was classic
I got all of his analogies and pop culture references. I am an old skate nerd.😢
Jamie isn't afraid to express his true opinions. Isn't afraid to step on toes or say something sucks. What a legend. Take notes.
So rare nowadays
Facts he is a self sufficient Boss. He can say what he want's.
Yeah and then most will say “he’s a dick!” Lol. No he’s just honest.
It’s like that crazy girlfriend that says “stop yelling at me” when all you’re doing is not baby talking her
The Chief
Jamie went to this skateboard camp in Canada when I was a kid. There was a team game of skate with Jamie on one team, and they destroyed everyone. Someone complained that it wasnt fair that he was on that team, and he said "don't hate the player, hate the game," absolutely unapologetically.
Yo, this feels like a therapy session for Chris and Jamie's friendship
It does
This episode is as real as it gets. It's amazing to see their dynamic right in front of us. They've been through so much together, and these dual interviews show something more than the individual ones, because whilst we know these two as individuals, and we've heard their stories individually, it's a totally different dynamic hearing them together. At parts they're brothers, others they're father and son, and sometimes they sound like an old married couple. Brilliant. Fantastic episode. Thanks, all.
They’re the embodiment of true homies
I went to a meet and greet when I was in middle school at a skate shop for the zero team at the time. I asked Jamie what the leap of faith felt like, he said "it felt like a dream man, like I was falling forever" lol
The butter spread over too much bread was an amazing LoTR reference. This interview was unreal. True professionals asking the questions and true professionals answering so honestly and informatively. This was special. Thanks!
Was here to find the lotr fans who caught that lol.
Anyone: Breathes
Kelly: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
annoying AF
Kelly > Chris Roberts
So awesome to hear Jamie talk about the importance of balance. Being a workaholic is not healthy. There’s a saying that “in 20 years the only people who remember you staying late at work is going to be your family.” Work hard at what you do, have passion, but don’t let it come at the expense of those close to you.
Dude the Bilbo Baggins reference hahahaha. Chris Cole is like the most genuine human ever after watching this.
2:13:45 man.. you can really feel Jeron's pain from not getting a full part in Yeah Right, at the end of the day he had to surrender to the vision Ty and Spike had which was amazing but regardless, that must have been really hard to go thru fr
Poor Jerron. He didn’t get a whole part in Pretty Sweet either, he shared it with Biebel
@@STEEL4122 awesomene part those two shared nonetheless, that full length is one of the best
Yea I kinda wanna see what was left on the cutting room floor, because for Yeah Right there was really no room for filler. So I'm curious to see if it actually was filler, or woulda been good enough to fit into the final cut
Chris (Cole) making faces and air-fingerboarding while Jamie tells stories about him is the best part of the whole show!
Lmao true
I rewinded it when I saw him air-fingerboarding to make sure I saw what I think I saw.
😂 I noticed all the faces, but I missed the air fingerboarding. About what time was it at?
@@phlooke about 18:00
Probably during the most uncomfortable part for them as well at 1:35:36
Guest: breathes.
Kelly: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Only negative thing I have to say is that this episode is too short. I could listen to them talk for 16+ hours
Two humble classic skateboard LEGENDS. That's all I gotta say about this. Epic episode.
As a former mongo pusher, I can tell you my switch push is indeed crispy. And the switch throwdown 🥴🥴
Chris Cole has been my favorite skater since I bought Dying to Live. And it’s partly because of his skating, but also how down to earth he is. Halfway through he’s done a LOTR, Zoolander and Paul Rudd reference. Definitely wish we were friends
Lotr? Lord of the Rings?
Hell yea Jamie First for me then Cole second but to me Cole is The GOAT! Met him twice in Detroit at Hartlines he signed my Zero shirt, Fallen Bodom shirt, 2 pairs of Troopers, 1 pair of Rippers and 1 Pair of hiss DC lite ones! Humble dude!
@@superskateboardingentertai9228 when they talk about CC leaving Zero
THE MOST LEGENDARY EPISODE EVER! Jamie has always been a huge inspiration to myself. So to see this duo on the show, I couldn't be more pumped!
Jeron Wilson has made this podcast thrive to another level. Im not saying nine club wouldn’t be here without him, but the quality of his comments, the timing of them, and simply being correct on so many topics (imo). I think I realized how great his addition was, was during the Julian Davidson interview
I miss Rog.
I YELLED OUT LOUD WHEN I SEEM THE NAMES 🤣😁😍🤕😭🤣🔥❤️🔥
This was a GREAT episode. Made me really admire Jamie, what a straight forward communicator with a lot of honesty and integrity.
I love all the transparency in this interview. This was definitely one of the best episodes!
Laughing my ass off at CRob getting a Hinge notification on his watch at 2:56:52 😂
Chris Cole and jamie are a force to be reckoned with!
I honestly don’t think Chris has been better prepared for an interview like he was for this one. That man’s had all the good questions and great timing when to ask them. Good stuff y’all. This episode is why the membership and sub are worth it!!!
Cole fingerboarding at 18:00 while getting gassed up is awesome! Love these dudes!
At 1:06:40 Kelly with the always passive aggression. “Hey I’m the only skate shoe baron” respect me 😂 goof
I love that Chis Cole is wearing a Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt, form the era when Billy Corgan was wearing a Zero t-shirt in his music videos like Bullet with Butterfly Wings. Synchronicity.
when 2 of your fav guests pair up on the same show? absolute madness, you love to see it. :)
No cap. They should get Herm and Reynolds
@@butthead4761 Greco and Klein too
one of the best episodes till now. Zero has a special place in my youth. Thanks for the honesty to the chieff !
I was smiling the whole 3 hours, my 2 favorite dudes, thank you for this amazing episode
This is one of the greatest episodes of anything ever. Such a blessing!
Dying to live legitamely changed my life. I was overweight all thru my teens. I bought a treadmill and wanted to start getting healty.
I would play lindsay robinson thru coles part while running on my treadmill. I would run on lindsays, take a walking break on ryans, and run again during coles. And it equaled out to about a mile. Did it everry day for about a year and lost 70 lbs. Not a joke at all. Every single morning. I owe them guys alot. Legit changed my life.
it's fascinating to see Cole and Thomas doing a whole interview together.. these 2 were essential to my childhood
Chris Cole listening and reacting to Jamie’s grillings and stories about him with the highest class was great to see 😂
Zero, Dying to live is one of my favorite skate videos! Coles part was amazing
Thank you to the Nine Club. The Jaime Thomas and Chris Cole episode. A big relief for me to know what happened after Fallen. I learned about the resilience of Mr. Thomas, and it was cool he could get to this point/future. Also, Mr. Cole was is one of the skaters I got to see grow and grow into the 3-time Thasher KOTR and 2-time SOTY. So, the interview is really appreciated.
I really loved Zero but I loved and bought Girl because [I was a skateboarder and local availability, etc]. Really, the interview is appreciated. Bye for now.
-J.T
Jamie Thomas's part in mislead youth is pure magic.
Half way through and this is so honest. One of the best nine club episode I've seen. The backstories are amazing and the questions are on point.
I had to cop a zero board after watching this! Epic !
Currently riding a ZERO board and it’s because of these two legends.
John Cardiel, his ad on that glass wallride is in Bakersfield. It’s now a chase bank.
Nine Club has been killing it lately with the Duo interviews. Waiting to see Danny Way & Colin McKay or Peter Smolik & Brandon Turner or Mike Carroll & Rick Howard or etc....
I need to see Julian and Cardiel.🎉
Kalis n Stevie and 2 hours of nothing but love park stories
My claim to fame in skateboarding is getting high-fived by Jamie back in 1998 he was doing a demo in my hometown (Ontario Canada) him and a couple other pros came out and skated our local city hall, I did a massive kick flip Indy over a five set and into the empty fountain.. i had tried heel flipping it about 10 times and the dudes were getting stoked, stuck kick lip Indy first try and Jamie rushed me high fiveing and stoking me up……. I’m now 40 and just got so amped remembering this story almost a lifetime highlight.. I was sure zero was gonna call me the next day… long story longer I’m an electrician today lol
Hell yeah that's a cool story! Becoming an electrician is awesome too. Great trade.
Absolute legends. Got lucky growing up in those days .
Yes it is good you didn’t stay small
Chris cole is hilarious😂 he doesn't end his sentence without a reference😂😂😂
Thank you 9 club from every fiber of my being, thank you Thomas and Cole. I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for "thrill of it all" and "dying to live" I know there is a million people who will say the same thing, but the influence both of of them, zero had on me is undeniable. Much love all.
Funny how Cole looks at the camera lol
I kept that Duffel ad and was psyched when it came out all these years later finally getting the reason why he didn’t fully get on Fallen after 88 finished what could of been if he’d left Sessions and worked out 🤷🏻♂️
Fallen was and still is among my all time fav shoe brand
Very insightful episode, props to Jamie and Cole for having so much humility.
Whoever said OMIT, is legendary. So quick!
Lol I remember downloading Jamie's leap of faith attempt from Morpheus in like 2002 or so to watching him now. What a line up of rippers on.
And shout out ES shoes in regards to hearing the topic about keeping the nostalgia going.
Thanks!
🙏
Thank you so much for the support!
Jamie is such a skate legend
You gotta give Thomas a huge credit for not cracking under the pressure and not treating people around him like crap. Sounds like he stayed cool while dealing with all the pressure.
Jamie Thomas is such an awesome dude and story teller, as is Chris!
This is epic!! Love Jamie's Dying To Live part!!
nah bro misled youth
This has been the best duo so far. Everyone I’m sure has a list of guests they’re waiting for. My dream list:
Kareem Campbell
Rodney Mullen
Steve Rocco
Atiba Jefferson
Stacey Peralta
Jon Allie, Tony Cervantes, Lindsey Robertson, James Brockman, Matt Mumford, Caswell Berry
Loved the prep session for this on Twitch leading up to the full thing. Tremendous interview!
You guys say bye like my mom on the phone, at least 8 times lol
Room filled with a bunch of legends! A lot of gems dropped throughout this episode! Great listen!
Sick episode. Loving the duo format.
CC: Permission to not push mongo sir?
Chief: Permission granted 🛹🫡
got a wall full of Zero boards, several signed by both of these guys.. with the way Zero drops new graphics I'm gonna have to build another wall haha
I love that Jamie puts up half a dozen signed boards on Ebay every week! I've got some too! Prized possessions
Please tell Jamie and Chris they NEED a podcast of their own! Epic!
This is amazing. I've watched so many Nine Clubs and this one is at the top of my list. SO GOOD!
Now we need the unfiltered interview
Wow. That was a lot "more" than I thought it would be. I'm an old head that grew up on this stuff, but I listened to Jamie talk about his growth and Chris, and it was like I was watching a documentary. I really appreciated this.
2 GIANTS of Skateboarding having one of the most tense and laid back conversations I've ever heard! This was one of my favorite Nine Club videos for sure, and I've love most of the episodes I've seen. Keep doing what you're doing Nine Club!
@the nine club thank you for inviting them both
2 of the best to ever do it. It’s fascinating hearing the intricacies of their lives, friendship and working together. I can’t wait for their video parts! Keep on inspiring y’all. Great episode.
I remember Zero demo in Brisbane Australia 😅. Chris Cole 360 flip a fun box like 8 foot long and chief reverse five O down a big hubba. So sick!!! Thanks guys for all you’ve done for skateboarding. I never knew how revolutionary the chief was. One of the most successful pro skaters and businessmen to date. So much insight in this podcast. Great job Chris, Kelly and Jeron. True legends.
I remember summer of 1997 heading out to my friends and we watched welcome to hell for the 1st time.. probably 1 of my favorite skate videos, but Jamies section was the best and most memorable...
Best skater ever!!!!
One of the few Experiences that ive watched from start to end. A captivating and entertaining conversation with 2 legends. Thank you for making this happen.
Wow!! what a great insightful and well articulated episode ! Props to all involved with this episode ! Love what you guys are doing !
“Butter spread over too much bread” ! Man, I’m all for Cole breaking out the Tolkien references 1:26:30 - that’s my guy!
Rowley came out with a part today, the boss has birthday and I am watching this ...im still in the 00's
This episode was a real blessing. Thank everyone involved for this one ❤
Best club thus far?? Chris and jamie sharing like this...great content and context. Stoked on the platform for these exchanges to even happen. Keep going 👍🏻
Everyone born before 1995 man oh man. These guys were what we watched and stoked us up. Great match there
Two national treasures! Once again, Thanks NIne Club!
International treasures 😅
@@jcstuurman2008 well yeah but they're both from the states
Putting yourself out there as a business owner in this scene is admirable. Very cool insight about the way the decisions were made, etc. I always think of Jamie as a skater but it's wild to do all of this business as well.
This is THE duo-est of duos. Never skated much Zero, but they were two of my biggest inspirations. Nothing but the utmost respect to both of them and I'm hyped to see them on at the same time
That’s The Chambers Brothers on those parts, Chief!
This was absolutely amazing. These two FORMED my entire life on a board and even into where I am now in life as a homeowner and hard worker. My skateboard has a special place with me and we spend time together when we can, and this interview literally tied all of my loose ends all together into a perfect rope, with each rung and different fabric all systematically working together to tell me everything is okay! Every walk of life and experience forms who we are as people. Times change and life continues. Its up to us what we make of what we have!!!!
it’s great that jaime found a way to take those business loses as an opportunity to grow and learn, but its also gnarly to hear
just how bad nike hurt core skate brands, and over 10 years later i don’t feel like skateboarding is that much better off since nike and adidas brought in their big money. there’s just less core brands, and a lot of the companies we love are gone.
I'm shocked NHS and DLXSF are even still alive..... honestly I'm shocked that thrasher isn't gone
absolutely amazing episode, might even watch it twice
U guys have been killing it with the guests of late... Love the duo interviews... Cole rockin the Members Only jacket... Which duo is next: Ave/Dill... Cards/Stranger... Kirchart/ J.Klein.... Natas/Gonz... ??
With their connections, you would think they could get Rick/Mike
Def wanna see Jeremy Klein and Kirtchart! ❤
Natas/Gonz I was thinking the same thing...
yes please.
I think Dill and Gonz would even be pretty sweet.
Awesome episode congrats for bringing us both legends at the same time this is priceless!!
Big ups to this episode! Just started watching a few months back and have loved the content but this one with Thomas and Cole was outstanding. Keep up the good work!
Awesome 🎉🎉👏👏👏 can’t wait to see the whole Zero Team at Escapist and Demo at Penn Valley here in Kansas City!
Such a great interview with two of the greatest skateboarders of all time. And the lord of the rings reference Cole made was definitely the highlight.
I almost forgot how important Jamie Thomas and Cole have been to my life. Adulting and day to day work life distracted me from what made me who I am and the heroes I had. Super awesome interview. Thanks guys 🫡
Such detailed and incredible behind the scenes shared here. This is why you're so important to the industry, 9Club. We live for this. Thank you to you and everyone involved and the guests! ❤
was about to say. such detail!
Man I don’t even really skate anymore because life n stuff like that but I definitely still gotta profound love for skating and I feel like it’ll always be apart of my life because it was for so long (even tho I was never that great) something about the nine club keeps me feeling like I’m still part of the community n I still can call myself I skater even if I’m not out there like how y’all are but with that being said I appreciate y’all for what you guys have done for the community and pushing the boundaries for skating forward more than ever and creating this medium and outlet for people who are in the skate industry who we would never be able to have conversations with yet it feels like we are through you guys and this episode is a testament to that so from the bottom of my heart I thank you guys so much for creating this space not only for myself but everyone involved and everyone listening I love this podcast to death n I couldn’t be more appreciative for having the opportunity to continue to live out my dream of being a professional skater vicariously through you guys. Love you all and don’t ever stop doing what you love !!
