RIP JD and Tony, bluegrass has lost two of the finest. Respect 🙏🏻
R.I.P. Tony Rice and J.D. Crowe
RIP J.D. and Tony. This lineup set a new standard for the genre that hasn't been surpassed, yet.
Can you believe these guys ?
Simply put, GREAT STUFF !!!
RIP Tony & JD your both missed.
5 major foundational artists (Crowe, Rice, O'Connor, Grisman and a VERY YOUNG Douglas) in one single stage. They all have influenced how their respective instruments are now played. Thank you Mark, from a Berklee grad that found true love in flatpicking.
R. I. P. J. D Crowe.
RIP JD
TOP players!
R.I.P.,Tony
I could -- and have -- listen to that man play banjo all day long. I guess my age is showing but I had forgotten that J.D. Crowe had passed away last year. In my mind there's only been one other that makes it look easier and sound better but I never saw him play Blackjack and when I'm in the mood for some high tempo bluegrass this is the one I turn to. RIP J.D. and Tony. Two of the finest to exist.
Gone but not forgotten..R.I.P. ..JD
The Tony Rice and Jerry Douglas runs were completely ridiculous. And now I know why Bela says that JD was one of this key influences.
I was watching the first time this aired in 1990. I didn’t know anyone playing. But I’ve been studying each one’s work since then. Thanks for posting Mark!
Swear I saw sparks come off the neck of Tony's guitar.
This is an astounding lineup of Bluegrass pickers!! That fiddle is singing so sweetly!
I loved the American Music Shop. I watched this when it was on TNN.
Ahh, J.D.! Now I need a drink!
The intro section and outro of this song takes a step towards sounding like Greek music. That was fun to hear
Please notify me when Bluegrass gets better than this. Talk about an all-star lineup!
I agree
Damn, your violin always sounds so sweet... This is wonderful..
That is the God damndest fiddle break to blackjack I have ever heard in my life.
Mark O'Connor. Yeah, one of the very best Americana fiddlers around!
That's not even his best instrument
Tony Rice at his peak rip
HELL of a lineup!
The absolute best of the best!
Monsieur mark o' connor vous êtes le meilleur :!!! un petit bonjour de France.
Amazing
GREAT !!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! With respect!!! Elena
Wow!!!
Simply fantastic! Thank you for posting!
The Best!!!
Most excellent!!!
Grisman.....maybe the best ever!!
Pretty good 'House' band... Dear Lord. Amazing talented ensemble................
Lord! Tony's break...
❤
Unless I’m mistaken, that’s Glenn Worf back there on the bass.
"That ain't workin, that's the way you do it......"
That's how it's done folks. Pure pickin'. A lot of Earl in JD's solo's. Mark, Tony, Jerry as expected.
Is that Derek Trucks on the Dobro?
No, Jerry Douglas
May God in Heaven Forgive me I just love this So.
I´mnot sure, what is David Grisman play on his mandolin, maybe it´s great, but it´s not as melodic to this song, I don´t know. I know Sam bush style playing, so I can´t compare this with his style, It´s almost same what plays Roland White playing, a that is a bulshit
The last of his kind. 🥲
