He's without a doubt my favorite member of S.E.E.S. Badass attitude, a lot of depth, he's just so cool.
Something I also like about him is that he develops other characters very well (specifically aki, Ken and mitsuru to a lesser extent). Something I like with SEES in general is that every party member is involved in the main story the whole way through. Imagine Ken and akihiko without shinji
I also love how his persona's tactic is literally killing himself for more power. No self preservation. Pure damage. Since Aragaki made such an impact on me, I copied this strategy into my Mishaguji and that's been a persona staple for me.
Not sure if you have but I highly recommend playing P3P the Female Route if you want another insight into Shinjiro.
So something related to why Shinji and Fuka are so closely tied in the story. Shinji is only the moon arcana in the Fem:c route. In the male route he is the hierophant arcana. The hiero is kinda like a priest and is actually the male counterpart to the priestess arcana which is Fuka. Both are associated with passing on knowledge, which is why Shinji gives strega information as well as how he helps Fuka find the hermit shadow during the September full moon. They are both also commonly associated with food. The elderly couple is also the hierophant arcana and gives you snacks almost everytime you rank up your social link with them. Shinji and Akihiko are also the only two persona users whose arcana is associated with masculinity (Aki is the Emperor in the male route). Shinji was changed to the moon and Akihiko changed to the star in the Fem:c route. Both are not part of the original 13 arcana and could be a hint how their fates are drastically different in Kotone's timeline. I think about Shinji a lot. Lol
Also I watched Justice's stream where he was signing Shinji prints for fans and he definitely seems like the type that doesn't swear normally, but he did say he was very excited that he was going to get the say the word "fuck" in the game after persona 5 fans were so adamant to atlus that they should let Ryuji say it. Lol Shinji in reload is officially the first main character who has gotten to say it in a mainline persona game. Also apparently Junpei's VA, Zeno Robinson, does not swear outside of acting and you can definitely tell in reload. Lol
Also note about shinjiro, i think he had a thing for pets, in sees we can see how he treated koromaru like in the movies n p3r, but the one that really hit the note is when after you rest after the typhoon things, you had 1 day to watch movies marathon at cinema, the story about how hardship that dog n cat and how he reacts to that movie. Regardless shinji is great character but so little time to spent with
Despite being the most tragic part of his character I feel like I find comfort in being alone as where Shinji feels like he's no choice but to be alone as to not hurt anyone else.
For me the most compelling part about Persona 3 characters is how believable and realistic they've been made honestly, with their own aspirations and struggles in life - I know a person like fuuka and mitsuru etc. with Aragaki outside of his brooding and depression I feel that he is very down to earth and grounded person - which brings that comfort to him - considering he is a sort of *_unhinged self-harming berserker-archetype_* when it comes to gameplay and combat, his very stable and down to earth in person beneath that hardened exterior
I never really cared about Shinjiro in original P3, but after playing reload and doing his link episodes I realised how great of a character he is and (even though I knew it was coming) I was so heartbroken over his death
Hope a spinoff where you play as the OG S.E.E.S. Comes out just so we can see more on Shinji

Shinjiro is definitely my favorite party member. He’s the guy who’ll tell you that he’s got your back no matter what. I’ve always wondered what castor would have evolved to if he somehow survived and got over the death of Ken’s mother
If we get a Femc dlc for P3R this is what I wish for to be included.

I'm trying to convince a friend to play Persona 3 Reload even if he doesn't like too much the RPG games, because this game is perfection, it has my favorite soundtrack, story, message and characters in the franchise.
I can agree to Shinji being best PERSONA 3 character. But in my oppinion Akechi's the best character from the entire series ig.
