@@TomasTots yeah I know that's why I said 2023. But 2030 seems more realistic. Maybe we have Imola or Portimao till than. I already lost my hope on Mugello.
France was good because it was a 2-stop race and you had Max actually racing to catch Lewis. If it was a 1-stop, it would have been the typical yawn-fest, since nothing would actually happen.
@@NauarchosHere Also France isn't bad because of a lack of overtaking opportunities but because of a design that creates enourmous gaps between the teams.
This is the third time I will be excited for Abu Dhabi. First was 2016, second was 2020 and now 2021. I wanna see more overtakes, I think it would have amazing racing.
I heard that Tilke wanted to do something like this from the very start but was blocked from doing so, and that he hated the layout the FIA went with as well.
Very nice. Understanding some limitations from initial design/location (hotel/grand stands locations etc.), these changes are probably best that could be done with this track.
I'm absolutely delighted by this changes, at least we can say that now it will (probably) be a good finale. Obviously I'd love to see Interlagos back as the TRUE finale, but I can be satisfied with these changes.
If it won't change a lot then I'll be looking forward to: "It's lights out and away we go" - 1h and 30 min of intensive sleep - "The chequered flag is there (driver) wins the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix"
I honestly thought that these changes were a late April Fools' joke xD! But, really hope that we don't have another absolutely lackluster race this year. Finally, though, they've got rid of that darned chicane in S1!
For me, sector 3 is the problem. Slow section, difficult to follow. The corner after the 2nd drs was never a problem for me since there were a lot of overtakes there
I would love them to put in the fast chicane that is on the long back straight. It would be another overtake opportunity as well. If they mess it up give them another overtake at the end of the straight
I'll remain skeptical until they actually race there this year. Same goes for Albert Park, really. They also changed the Catalunya circuit but that didn't exactly bring better racing either. Nonetheless this is a good begin but I still really rather see this Tilkedome be scrapped all together and see Australia, Brazil or Japan become the season finale again.
Turkey T8 is only good for the spectacle and not for racing. Also the space there would only allow for something that is half the size of Turkey's T8 and having 4 apecies in a 170kph turn wouldn't be that exciting would it? Not worth to give up better racing for a more complex corner
I think it’s a huge W Imo it will take Abu Dhabi from being bottom 5 to middle of the pack Glad to see this trend of circuits spending money to improve the spectacle! If it works they should be rewarded with longer contracts
These changes are promising and similar to what fans have been talking about for some time. Hopefully the racing will improve as I agree the track looks really nice lit up but rarely produces anything exciting.
They might have actually fixed the circuit with these changes. If the hairpins will be banked that will also be an excellent addition, more tracks should make their hairpins and medium speed corners banked if possible.
The hairpin at what is now T7 will have to come back from the North stand in order to retain Grade 1. At the moment that would be too close. It becoming a heavy heavy breaking point now will be interesting with people coming out of the pits with cold tyres. I wouldn't have touched 11 as it was always good for a lunge. The redesign around 11 to 14 will possible turn T17 into a war zone.
Sebring international raceway, streets of Phoenix, Indianapolis motor Speedway streets of Long Beach, Belle Isle Park of Detroit, Portland international raceway a.k.a. Walkens Glenn and COTA of every US Grand Prix’s in formula one
Abu Dhabi is a great venue, but the layout is just not great for racing. I feel the changes at 11 should be a tighter hairpin, but otherwise I think it looks good as of right now.
I remain sceptical, though. But I have to admit that I'm going to miss the second chicane in the game version ;) And I wonder what Tilke has to say to all of these changes - has he been involved?
Personal unpopular opinion. Removing that chicane (in the final sector) has stolen an overtaking spot. They've turned it into Turkey turn 8... which never gave us any overtakes. The cars will look impressive going round it, but it's no overtaking spot.
To me old setup was just fine in sims but in reality track had problems...now i hope people will stop bitching about this track.. i to not understand why they got rid of that second S turn it was just fine..but now that sweeping right will be more challenging
Formula one never had the US Grand Prix in Saint Petersburg, Florida Baltimore, Maryland Houston, Texas phoenix Raceway Las Vegas, Nevada Monterey, California, Lexington Ohio, Birmingham Alabama, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Fontana, California and Nashville, Tennessee
Lewis Hamilton team should not change nothing on the Mercedes car what don't brake do not change it, do not change the engine for the Abu Dhabi Yas Marina race track the new engine would give Mercedes a added advantage at Abu Dhabi Yas Marina race circuit, that is the way you want to see the Mercedes run with a massive straight line speed. without no compromise attack is the best strategy you have to take it to Red Bull what frighten Red Bull is Mercedes massive straight line speed.
finally, less obnoxious chicances and more smooth racing
these changes look good. can’t wait to see how it changes the racing!
They sure look promising! Let’s hope it works out 💪🏽
Yea for sure man, its absolutely grgeous racing, all we need is racing too
Tracks like Yas Marina has a lot of potential than can be done
Yup just like paul ricard they have space
*have
Turn 18,19 and 20 also looks to be smoother then before. You can see it on the yasmarina site.
the apex on T17 is much wider as well, a similar change to what they did in Melbourne at T6

That’s a good way to put it!
France was good because it was a 2-stop race and you had Max actually racing to catch Lewis. If it was a 1-stop, it would have been the typical yawn-fest, since nothing would actually happen.
Not trying to be the pessimistic type but the track wasn’t really the main factor in making the race good, it was more the strategy.
@@NauarchosHere Also France isn't bad because of a lack of overtaking opportunities but because of a design that creates enourmous gaps between the teams.
@@petouser Which in return produces no overtaking and teams have to resolve to 2-stops. Aka exactly my point.
I wish the new corners are cambered ones. Cambered corners help to extend overtaking opportunities (like that of Mugello).
The one near sector 3 will be a banked corner
i think the second hairpin should be further back and a tighter
Can´t do that, because you would need to tear down the grandstands to extend the runoff.
There's no space
