Will definitely intend to add feer marking in the future! And sorry for the stiff while focus. There might be some small problems for our samples. And shipping process could possibly cause problems, too. But in our batch production, we’ve made improvement and the focus will be much smoother than the samples.

That's great to hear! I look forward to trying the next focal lengths out!

How about close focusing being 1.6x and infinity 1.8x squeeze? That makes that lens pretty useless..

Did you even watch the video?

Thank you and much appreciate this video and information! Just ordered and purchased one and got 30 days to take notice to what you’ve shared. Especially in addition about follow focus power even how it relates to other lenses. Salute!

Really good review… I love the footage at the start… About your point about the focus throw, It’s not a problem for me as my lenses are permanently on a gimbal set up with an electronic FF, either from DJI or Tilta. As I have a 6KPro, I will have to play around with this work flow to figure out the best way of not losing too much information. Nice one

To me it seems like the best bet is to shoot in 6K on the blackmagic and do the desqueeze process I run through in the video. Anamorphic mode is just too tight for me.

Hey @DOD Media, at 7:50 you talk about electronic FF adjustments. Can the Nucleus N adjust the rotation speed as you described?

Thanks for the excellent review! It's great to see more and more choice of anamorphic lenses for lower budgets. I have seen some close focus footage of faces with this lens where the change in desqueeze ratio results in rather a distorted face if kept at 1.8 desqueeze. Can't imagine certain talents being happy with that if not treated in post, but I guess some TLC in post should sort it.
By the way, great voice and sound quality 👍

Thanks! Honestly I'd say the people who are complaining about trying to shoot talent's face at minimum focal length and having a weird squeeze are not thinking about how different focal lengths have different uses. I might use a spherical 50mm for a close up, but with an anamorphic I'd definitely want something longer like an 85mm or 100mm if I'm planning on getting up close to someone. I mostly stuck to mid and wide shots in the opening sequence for a reason. Same reason you'd avoid shooting portraits with a 28mm. Different lenses for different framing, and that goes double for anamorphics!

@@dodmedia absolutely, that's very true. I was hoping Great Joy would bring out their 85mm next for that reason, but it looks like they're developing the wider angle (30?) one first. Fingers crossed that 85 will be available soon.

im kinda confused about the BMPCC comparison. Ive seen people use the atlas anamorphic with great results and didnt notice that much cropping. not super knowledgable on anamorphics (since theyre so rare in my hungry wallet world) I thought the "anamorphic mode" on BMPCC was a way to see it desqueezed in camera. couldn't you just shoot this lens on the full 6k sensor or will it all still work out the same?. guess I need to brush up on my ratio scalings. Ive always been aware of the crop factor differences on lenses with these different sensor sizes, but I was kind of shocked just how much cropping is needed for this lens. sort of defies the purpose of anamorphic lenses on cameras with these sensor sizes. I would never blow cash just to get a nice lens flare so thats not the most important thing.
