I agree. There is definitely longevity in this game as long as they don’t add a set with a super op Pokémon. Other than that, my fav part is how any complete deck is viable. Just depends on your draws and matchups. But with any complete working deck even without ex’s, has matchups they win.
getting rid of prizes makes me actually want to play Pokemon TCG. the minimalizations help make this game accessible: no resistance, low deck sizes and score points, power level reset

All card games are like this. If every card was consistent and didn't have any luck based thing involved, matches would be worse because the person with the best cards/deck would always win. Luck makes every match unpredictable, so even the player with disadvantage can win.

i agree the fact that they give you a basic at the begin is good but at the same time it can be abused by having free ex at the begin, a deck with only 2 zapdos ex should not be a thing. taking out at least the EX can be good
I love this deck! It does great against pikachu decks since you can two shot with dugtrio and one shot with alakazam. The only bad thing is the double energy. If you get a dugtrio start with no fighting energy you basically lost the game. I hope they rework the randomness of the dual energy. Maybe you can only get 2 of the same in a row?
in the tcg if you mulligan it allows the other player to draw a card and this stacks for each mulligan until you draw a basic, its there for a reason and i dont know why they removed it, also absolutely the first turn player should be able to place energy especially if they cant attack it makes certain pokemon unplayable like pinsir and persian

3:16 The game isn't about playing Pokemon, it's about you and your team of Pokemon battling the opponent and their team of Pokemon. Having more Pokemon doesn't win you the game, having the better strategy does, even if that means having fewer potential Pokemon. Even before EX Pokemon became a thing, it was rare to have a higher number of pokemon in your deck than trainer cards. In Base-Jungle format, the best decks have somewhere between 10-22 Pokemon in their 60 card deck, with somewhere between 3-5 different pokemon lines (Bulbasaur>Ivysaur>Venusaur being one line for example). Energy then takes 16-18 slots, and trainers filled out the remaining spots making them the most played cards. And this is kind of an outlier, with surrounding formats focused even more heavily on trainer cards supporting just a few Pokemon and sometimes even less energy (there's a Base-Team Rocket deck with 7 energy and 17 Pokemon). But this also makes sense from a flavor perspective. Trainer cards, and later on supporters and such, represent your influence on the battle. You aren't just a sideliner watching your Pokemon battle for you, you are an active participant. Putting in lots of Pokemon means you participate less in the battle.
I've had success with Koffing-Weezing, especially good against mewtwo Snom-Frosmoth would also be funny I think, although it's very rng dependant with the sleep
I like the video but I disagree, the weezing deck gives you better coverage against mewtwo decks and you don’t have to rely on luck. Also weezing has more hp, poison gives you control over your opponent and you can save weezing for free with Koga
to be honest "crush the meta" doesnt feel like it, the only one real meta deck that was showed, was the one it lost against, i see how luck on dugtrio's might give you the chance to set against mewtwo gardevoir decks, but still, its just luck and you wont do it most of the time, in the end, its just sabrina's mind games against that mewtwo, i see it winning against pikachu and charizard tho. but articuno starmie and mewtwo... dont think so.
I never liked playing the meta since it makes everything feel the same, so I run a dragonite deck. It's not the greatest deck. It's a stall deck until you get dragonite in, then you hit hard.
I really don't like the screen split like that, it's confusing and having to force my eyes jumping around gives a headache. I suggest putting it back to all just one screen
I dont see a way for them to make it so you cannot get an ex in an opening hand. Theyre basic mons and youre guaranteed a basic mon in your first hand. Blocking them like that in a 20 card game would be a waste. The solution is waiting for more cards to come out so things balance out better.
And that’s beside the fact that if your opponent has no benched Pokemon when you KO their active, they lose the game regardless of how many points you have. The only way they could guarantee that you don’t start with an EX basic is by requiring at least one non-EX basic to be in every deck. But that would possibly give cards like Starmie and Exeggutor EX a massive advantage against cards like the legendary bird EX’s, since they wouldn’t need to start with an energy attachment or X Speed to retreat out a different mon before attacking.
@iliya1933 Some random dude played articuno, then misty, got 3 water energies, killed my bulbasaur and I lost because I didn't have any pokemon on the bench. I hate misty so much.
@@Jeijard lol DANG. I don’t know if you played the original PTCG, but in that game, the player who goes first can attach energy manually once, but they can’t evolve, play supporters OR attack. The Misty/Articuno donk would never happen before you’ve had a chance to draw and play more cards to your bench like that (unless you went first and didn’t draw any basics).
