      Really..... I agree 100%. After spending 13 years in an Arab country, first time I learned this very easily. I am still learning but always felt ashamed when I spend time with local friends that I don't understand anything they talks and always they were forced to translate it for me or speaks in common language.

    99 in some languages :
    🇬🇧 : 90 + 9
    🇩🇪 : 9 + 90
    🇦🇪 : 9 + 90
    🇨🇳 : 9 * 10 + 9
    🇫🇷 : 4 * 20 + 10 + 9
    Feel free to add yours too :)
    I'm French and as far as I know we say "four twenty" for 80 because Gauls (Ancient people in France) used vigesimal (base-20) system to count and it stuck until now. It wasn't until I literally translated numbers like 88 to English with the French way (four twenty eight) that I realised how weird the system was.
    But in other French speaking countries like Switzerland or Belgium, they have the "logical" noun (first the "logical" way and second the way used in France) :
    70 : septante ("seventy") - soixante-dix ("sixty ten")
    80 : huitante or octante ("eighty") - quatre-vingt ("four twenty")
    90 : nonante ("ninety") - quatre-vingt-dix ("four twenty ten")

    Curious! The similarities with numbers between Arabic & Amharic are super similar. What I've noticed specifically is our 10s sound like your basic numbers. By that I mean:
    10 = Asir
    20 = Hay-ya
    30 = Se-la-sah
    40 = Ar-ba
    50 = Ahm-sa
    60 = Sil-sa
    70 = Seh-ba
    80 = Sema-nyah
    90 = Ze-te-nah
    100 = Meh-tow
    I think I'm gonna record a vid of counting as well!
