Thanks Jake for pronouncing his name correctly! 😅 It’s weird to me as long as Hanson lived in Russia you’d think he would pronounce his name correctly. I’m fluent in Russian and you’re saying it right 👏👏👏 When it first came out he was signing with byu, I had to go listen to an interview with him years earlier which was in Russian… blows my mind how awful some media are with pronunciations 😂 and I understand it’s tough but COME ON lol. Thanks for all you do

wow (not whoa), no slowing KYU down. Of course BYU has to delivery wins, but BYU has an execrable trajectory and it is only mid-off season

I'd rather see the Y win an NCAA championship, than putting players in the NBA. Hopefully they can do both?

Slow down everyone, what BYU is doing is absolutely remarkable. But they're 300+ basketball teams in the NCAA. I believe that young is going to be a tremendous addition to the BIG12 but just because he brings in a couple of 4* athletes doesn't mean he's going to win the BIG12 let alone own the draft in years to come!!!

I have wondered for DECADES why BYU didn't put more emphasis into its athletic programs, given the potential rewards to the university and its mission.
Better late to the party they never, but what a waste of opportunities over the years.

Cant wait to see BYU get 2-3 players drafted in the first round of the NBA draft in the future!

Winning a natty the right way is worth millions in advertising for the LDS way of life. From a marketing perspective, the church should invest heavily in its sports and divest from door to door high pressure sales techiques. The missionaries could be re-purposed for humanitarian works and hey, why not world wide sports ambassadors/ recruiters?

I don't entirely disagree, but it'll never happen.

Of course that's never going to happen. The objective of the Church is to bring the gospel of Jesus Crist to the world. Sports may be the epitome of your life, but millions of members of the Church are more interested in living the Gospel , sure Sports are of interest to a lot of them, especially BYU Sports, but the members are more likely to be interested in living the Gospel and helping others to live their best lives. The humanitarian work of the Church is legendary, and many young missionaries choose a humanitarian mission.
I think it's laughable to imagine the Church owning Sports franchises to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sports may be the most important thing in your life. I enjoy them also and I am a diehard BYU fan, but I know that this has nothing to do with my eternal salvation.

@@earlhuff3998 I said from a marketing perspective. To bring new eyeballs to the church that otherwise would continue to ignore us. The church already does this, just poorly. They give away BYUtv for free, pay for PSA, etc. As my mission pres would say, what they are doing is “menos eficaz”. And by the way, why wasn’t I given the option to go on a humanitarian mission? I much preferred digging wells and clearing weeds to knocking on doors (unless the occupants of the house fed us or let us watch Mexican soap operas).

Are you guaranteeing a natty because that is a really bold statement! Just because Kevin is doing a remarkable job in his first year doesn't guarantee anything! They play in the BIG12 the toughest conference in basketball there are teams in the BIG12 that have been recruiting on this level for 20yrs. The Kevin Young hire has brought BYU up to speed with the blue bloods, but that guarantees no natty!!! I am really excited to see basketball this year and hopefully Kevin can keep the hype up for years to come!!!

@@Shaunskee I am guaranteeing the possibility of a Natty if the Church decides to jump in with both feet. These past 60 days are a good start. I am also guaranteeing that this will result in more positive exposure for the church than what they are getting right now through door knocking and high pressure sales techniques.
