We’re in the same boat I’m coming from a 2015 Jetta SE and have a monument gray GLI coming in from the factory in about 2 weeks. Honestly can’t wait. How you liking it so far
Sorry to say this brother but this looks like an even better daily than both your Type R and Golf R cause it has the looks luxury power and its way less expensive, great review though very informative.
I owned a 24 GLI manual and now a 24 Golf R DSG. I will say the GLI Is an outstanding value. I got 40mpg on a trip from Ohio to Florida. Very comfortable. For practicality. I prefer my Golf R. Tons of cargo space when you lay the seats down. AWD is also great for me in Ohio as we do experience the full of all seasons. Golf R seats and seating position is more comfortable. I think the ride is slightly more harsh but I attributed that to 19" wheels vs 18 wheels on the GLI. Overall, can't go wrong with either.
I had a 2021 and then went to Audi. I was looking at getting one of these again. But they put a lot more piano black in this current model which scratches very easy.
Lol why thank you that means that you were taken aback by my genuine first time reaction to the car, I wish the dealership paid me for the review though that would be 🔥.
On my 8th GLI (since 1997). 2019. 23k miles (didnt drive it during the pandemic). As a born and raised Southern Californian it handles the Angels Crest Highway like its job. The GLI just hits differently. Drove my friend's RS3 down in Malibu and weirdly I liked the GLI better (yes the RS3 is faster but tries too hard). The GLI is simpler. More organic. Not sure if I would want to drive the GLI in Florida (dont like Florida at all 🤣). Make sure you service the DSG at 40k. Enjoy it my man.
In my opinion the SI will hold it's value better and be more reliable as well, I would get a new Civic SI over the GLI, but if you want space and speed with more luxury, then go GLI.
My thoughts exactly. Definitely will hold its value for longer. Thanks for your opinion. Love my Si so it will take something special to get me out of my Si.
@ I would pick the GLI over the GTI any day of the week. I like the previous platform better and that car comes loaded with a far better infotainment system.
Man I really want a VW GTi in manual but they're stopping the manual transmission for 2025. What a crime. This leaves me at either the GLI or golf r. Golf R is my favorite car but it's about 50% more in cost than the GLI. Looks like I may end up with the GLI elimination. Discontinuing the manual in both the GTI and Golf R is an absolute crime
I have the 21 GLI red with black package. I’m holding on to this until the next redesign. This mid cycle refresh is horrendous. They cheapened everything! The DRL is straight from 2017, the headlights are from last year low end model Jetta. The infotainment screen is now floating and cheap af. You don’t even get a full blacked out roof, no deck lid spoiler. WTF VW? How dare you drop the red stripe to the splitter where it will get fucked up. Looking like a damn Elantra. The light bar in the rear doesn’t even connect, even if it did, the car is too small for that. Stop chasing trends!
You just can't get in the car while crushing the bolsters. It would happen to any car. I'm very conscious of my gti seats and they are still crease free after almost 8 years.
@RaceCarFriends BMW cheaped out in my M240i and put synthetic leather, otherwise known as pleather!! Lol, but honestly, after 45,000 miles, they have no wear or creases with absolutely zero care to them! 😂🤣
Man that car with an ecu and dsg tune flies!! Miss mine already
Man I wish I was able to drive the one you had but yeah you should buy one of these and tune it to compare it to your RS3.
Just got mine last week in monument gray and absolutely love it! Upgraded from a 2012 VW Jetta SE and what a difference 12 years make!
Man I can only imagine because I drove a 2019 model year and this seems to be way better than that one! Congratulations!
Is it expensive to manage ?
@@fabolousjada5070 I don't think so TBH.

I really like the new design. I was looking at these. I wish they were on the same power level as a GTI
Same here I feel like this thing would be amazing with a tune!

Nice congratulations! What Audi model did you go with?
@@RaceCarFriends thank you! I ended up going with the 2024 RS5 Sportback.
I just noticed they took the all-black roof off. It still looks nice, but the all-black roof makes it look much better.
Oh yeah I just realized that as well.
@@RaceCarFriendsit’s an option with the “black package” gives you black wheels, black roof, and black mirror caps
@@mycool21 Sweet!
Good review. That's one of the cars on my list. My request, try the 6spd manual please.
Thanks and no problem will do, once I can I'll review one for you.
It's great.
Dank review...seems like the local dealership paid you to drive it and say nice things about it.....

Yes 5th!
Oh snap! Welcome back!
I want to get a gli for my next car I have a 2017 se that Imma stick with for a few more years but finding gli in the us is so hard
Good luck brother it's hard to find them but definitely worth it once you do.
Thinking about trading my 23 Civic Si for one of these but still undecided. What you think?

This drove better than the GTI imho. I ended up buying a used 23 Arteon with 11k miles and cpo.
Yeah to me the GTI drives more fun and sporty like, the GLI drives like a sporty luxury vehicle I'd say.
@ I would pick the GLI over the GTI any day of the week. I like the previous platform better and that car comes loaded with a far better infotainment system.
@@Stclairm1 I personally prefer the GTI because I love hatches but you can't go wrong either way.
I wonder why they gave the GLI the manual but not the GTI. Great package
Facts for real!!! VW needs to give the manual to the GTI and Golf R as well!
@@RaceCarFriends yessir!
@@QueTheChaotic 💯💯💯
Jetta is American made where the GTI is not.
What is the water pump reliability like? I heard that was a trouble spot, and difficult to service.
Not sure TBH hopefully it's on point.
Don’t read the comments but isn’t the whole roof supposed to be blacked out with this package?
TBH I have no idea lol.
Nice car for the money and you knows I'm all about that DSG life bro!!😂😅
Lol facts for the money it's a hard car to compete against.

Unfortunate build reliability.
@richardmichael59 I wasn't aware of that! How about the Golf R build quality in comparison?
