This is brilliant. I just did this with my wife and she’s still frustrated AF!! Lol For a different twist, instead of pulling 3 cards to use 12 cards, I pull 2 or 4 cards at a time. I tell her to stop whenever she wants in order for her to think it was her choice how many cards are used. I do 2 or 4 as u said any even amount of cards will work, which is correct. And for the reveal, I get her to put her hands over the cards so she knows I’m not touching the cards. So that’s an extra 2 points where she thinks she has control over the trick. Thanks for the video. Has been great during lockdown 🙂
I love these type of tricks because it truly appears that the spectator has mixed the cards thoroughly, so the effect is even more impressive at the end since it happened with the spectator in full control(or so they think).
I did this with the 48 remaining cards in the deck after they chose 4 of a kind and it worked perfectly and it freaked them out. It’s even more impressive if you use the whole deck so it doesn’t seem like a math trick. It really comes off as a skill and control trick or actual magic to some. Awesome video.
I'm trying to pick up card tricks cause it looks like a lot of fun and I love leaving people fooled or dumbfounded, and your videos offer really good tricks performances and detailed descriptions of how to recreate it in term a beginner magician like myself can do, thank you so much for making these!
I was doing the performance along with him at the beginning and when he randomly went through the cards and took out an 8, i also ended up pulling out an 8! Is this guy magic or what!?!?!?
Strange… Cannot find my mathematical explanation of the trick. In case someone is interested, I try to explain it again. I think you all agree that, if we do the trick with all face down cards, at the end they will be also all face down (or all face up). So for simplicity I explain it with all face down. So the initial pile is DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Step 1 ist to flip every second card -> DUDUDUDUDUDUDUDU Step 2 is to flip pairs. So what happens if you flip an ace and a 2 which are oriented like D(A) U(2)? It will become D(2) U(A). So no matter whether you flip or not, the end sequence will remain DUDUDUDUDUDUDUDU Step 3 is similar D(A) U(2) D(3) U(4) will becom D(4) U(3) D(2) U(A) keeping the DU sequence still intact. Step 4 is to build 4 piles: 1 2 3 4 D U D U D U D U D U D U D U D U So each pile is just D or just U cards. Step 5 is now to flip over Pile 1 to 2, making one bigger U-pile and Pile 4 to 3 making one bigger D-Pile. liviong you with one D- and one U-pile. Flipping one over onto the other will leave you with all cards in the same orientation.
You forgot to put the Four of a Kind in the sequence in the opposite orientation. Its not 16 D cards before step 1. Try it again and you will see that in step 5 you only have 4 cards in the same orientation and 12 in the opposite
You didn't understand what I wrote, @@stamatistzanos5513. Please read again: For simplicity of the explanation, I explained it with 16 D cards. As a result of the same operations done in the trick, we get in the end all cards in the same orientation as in the beginning. So what does this mean for some of the cards being initially U cards? In the end we will get all the cards in the same orientation they started in. So the 4 ones will again all be up.
@@Skeeve-Magick And the orientations can be different each time and still the same result..Its a crazy trick thats for sure one of my favs..One i havent figured out to explain but knows it works 100% of the time
It’s usual that the audience is amazed by the magician but this trick amazes me. Works brilliantly and I’m gobsmacked that it works!!! Thank you, I love your tutorials.
You can give even more choices. When you have the last 4 piles, ask the spectator to name one pile. Pick it up. Let him name another pile to put the taken one on. Repeat this. Then you're left with 2 piles which you put together. The key here to remember is: FKFK meaning Flip Keep Flip Keep So when putting a K onto a K or an F onto an F keep the orientation when stacking them When Putting a K on an F or an F on a K, flip the pile you're holding. That's pretty much it. The result will be the same
I have no clue what you want to kno, @@abellananda934. I explained the trick's principle in another comment. Maybe read that and get any ambiguity resolved.
I would add that there are three scenarios. 1) they pick FK as you see in this video, all is normal, 2) they pick FF or KK, then don't flip any of them, but you'll have to flip one of them at the end when you have only two piles, 3) they pick FK but either the F and K at the center or the ones at the edge, in this case you flip both BUT you don't flip the last two piles, just stack them
What a cool, impromptu trick! I really like how 90% of it can be performed in the spectator's hand. Thanks, Nathan. I appreciate you sharing one last easy one before the advanced stuff. You do some incredible effects and your tutorials are always fairly easy to follow. As much as I love the more involved tricks, I just don't have the time to dedicate to practicing them. BUT FEAR NOT, I'll still watch them! Haha
This is a very cool self working card trick. You can do this with any number of cards. But they have to be even. Adding the cuts, kind of throws them off. Harry Lorayne is a wizard with this trick. Nice performance. 👍👍
I tried this with a whole deck of 38 cards and it still worked. Only thing I would warn people is the more cards you do it looks more impossible but when you do the 4 piles at the end it is easier to see a pattern of all face up and all face down etc.
I really like your channel!!!, your intros, your magic, your tutorials, and everything else, your channel is so so cool, I learn all my magic from you.
7:54 is hugely important and you do not mention it at all. That FLIP changes the entire deck from REVEAL to FAIL. You completely flip the deck over then begin all the rest and that is the entire trick's key moment. If you are getting it wrong, that is why.
@@astrohawke It will not work, clearly, if you start at the wrong side. You must start the flipping with the cards face up or the trick WILL NOT work - thus all the people below who cannot get it right. THAT is why they cannot get it right - it is that one move/flipping beginning that makes or breaks the deck into alternates. If you flip the deck over, it DOES NOT work - I guarantee it.
Really enjoyed this trick! I love performing it and the standards and reactions I get are so funny it brings me joy to know that I can wake up and sit on UA-cam watching your videos really enjoy your videos, hope you reach 1M by the end of the year!
In all the tricks I perform, I never touch the cards again once the cards are in the spectators' hands. I prepare the decks so that each stack can do two or three tricks in a row before I take back the cards. This requires practice giving explicit instructions to avoid mistakes and quickly calculating how to correct a mistake. Putting the magic in their hands is the most magical experience we can offer. Also, I use tarot cards.
I followed Nathan's performance while watching it for the first time, and without knowing how to perform the trick I accidentally was able to perform it! I was so confused by myself :)

Very impressive trick. I'm usually not a fan of mostly 'self-working' tricks, but this one has my attention. One thing to note: When you deal the cards in four stacks and ask the spectator to choose which half to place 'on top', I found the flip-over move to be highly suspect and unnatural. Obviously, they're not going to understand how the trick is performed by that one move... but considering that the rest of the trick is so 'natural' in how things are mixed, it's a shame to then add a move that is so obviously unnatural. When cutting cards, you NEVER flip one half of the cards... and this final stack is like completing a cut. Anything odd is going to be a visual red flag. I'd stick with the original patter/performance for this flip, or add patter to your move such as, "you want this stack to be on top? Great. We'll not only place it on top, but we'll give it one final twist to mix it up even further." At least justify the move so it becomes part of the 'mix up' and not a red flag. Other than that minor point -- excellent trick and great video. Thanks!!
This is a cool trick. Your presentation and tutorial is great. There is a lot of other card tricks based on this method. I usually get great responses. 👍👍

A hint to the math...
Each card has two important properties:

b) position in the deck: even/odd
