In this video, we feature both the “Storm” as a custom sample I made along with the amazing Rhodes electric piano as the main sound.
Thank you for posting content for the stage 4! Please keep it coming!!!
Hey there @griffinlarson5894 I still have your request from a week or two ago earmarked. Although I won't be duplicating all the Rush stuff (because there is a lot of it), I'm thinking of at least doing a deep dive and recreation for Tom Sawyer which would cover the beginning filter sweep with high resonance and then later we have the very cool solo using portamento (glide). Plus, it's a cool song that everyone knows.
@@MyKeysToMusic Thanks for responding. I’d love that, as I’m sure others would as well. I’d love to know how to find some of the settings from the stage 3 translated to the stage 4, to recreate some of those sounds. Thanks again!
@@griffinlarson How are you doing with your Nord Stage 4? I wanted to let you know that I'm creating an entire section surrounding the idea of "recreating sounds from the Nord Stage 3 for the Stage 4) in my upcoming "Master the Nord Stage 4" course. It has been a challenge with the migration, and there are quite a few people going through this process as we speak. Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on content, but it's likely going to be reserved for students taking the NS4 course. If I do put up something on UA-cam, you'll be the first to know.
@@MyKeysToMusic I cannot wait for that! I am doing well with the piano portion and the presets. I can’t speak for everyone, but I must say that it gets difficult (time-wise) to build sounds on your own and learn the instrument to the best ability as well. So, videos and compilations of pre-made sounds proves helpful to those who want to have fun getting the sounds of some of their favorite music while also learning to build and create new music themselves. I am really looking forward to when that re-creation comes out. Hopefully some rush will be in there from the NS3. 😉
I will be a happy customer of yours.
@@griffinlarson I love to hear this! I'll let you know as soon as possible when the course is ready. Did you already sign up as a student on my website for anything at this point? If so, you'll be added to the mail list, and you'll receive the monthly newsletter. You could, for example, enroll in my free "Master the Nord Sample Editor" course so that you can learn the art of sampling for your NS4. (www.MyKeysToMusic.com)
Very cool! Thank you for posting.
@dennisstone6925 Thanks Dennis - it was a fun one!
Great stuff Marc.
Thanks Steve!
That is a terrific accomplishment --- excellent
Thanks @teashea1 - appreciate it.
Great video, thanks! Sounds realistic. You explained you need to trigger the sample every 25 seconds. Wouldn't be a possible solution to create a loop in the Nord Sample Editor which does the same job?
Hello @christianwagner6213 Great point about looping the sample. I should have done that. I think the reason I didn't was to have full support for the Nord Electro 6 which doesn't have a KB hold. My original thought was "build a single sample and deploy to all the boards." But in hindsight, I should have just clicked the "loop button" in the Nord Sample Editor and then made a separate build for the NS3 and NS4 so that the KB hold could be used. You are astute to notice this, so thanks again for your valid and innovative input!! 👍🏻
I wished you explained how to bring the Storm-sound onto the E-key and the Thunder-sound onto the F-key.
@ulzman3581 Ulz Man I have a free course on how to do this called "Master the Nord Sample Editor" which describes how to make a sample and assign it to a given key on the board: www.MyKeysToMusic.com
@@MyKeysToMusicGreat ! Thank You !!!
@@ulzman Happy to help!
Great stuff. Have done this several times - in the early days didn’t have the capability of sampling a decent storm! So here, have you added/assigned rain and thunder clap samples to individual notes? Also when will NS4 course be ready?
Hello @jeremyboulton5493 Thanks so much for stopping by. So yes, the rain and thunder are on individual notes E1 for the "storm in the background" and then F1 for the slight clap of thunder to go along with it in selected spots. The NS4 course will be ready summer of 2023.
yes, we have a bass player but I still wanna know how to do the programmed bass line. 🙂 (subscriber, but this is my no commercials office account)
Hello @vibrantlifecenter3211 In this video, I explain how Ray does his bass lines/bass sounds: ua-cam.com/video/c2ak_g-TLXA/v-deo.html At the end, Ray himself explains things too. Hopefully, this gets you started.
Hey Mark, I have a question. Do you maybe plan to make a Video about Pads/Synthesis Creation for Worship pads? To be more specific Drone-like , atmospheric pads which are often used by Maverick City, Hillsong, Elevation Worship, Bethel Music. I mean the kind of ambient sounds
There is a big big community of christians which are pretty invested into Nord Stages and while there are some Tutorials out there on how to achieve atmospherical, ambient pads those are pretty much "Download the patch but letme show you how cool it is"
Not really a technical explanation on how to approach this genre of sound crration. Would be interesting to see you do it, and who knows maybe it is a new challenge for you aswell. I think a bunch of people would kindly appreciate it 😊
Hello @christianmuntean Sorry for the massive delay with this response. I have one such video for the Stage 3 to get you started, perhaps, which was my only real foray into this genre thus far: ua-cam.com/video/qP2bnApIHbM/v-deo.html I always got the impression that when it comes to Stage 3 worship videos on UA-cam, the community has more than its fill already. However, you may have a point whereby there isn't much "explaining" as there is just doing demos of the song patches they've created. There's probably a good reason for that. If they explained in detail how to make the sound, there would be no reason for people to buy the sound! I found this other one which may help if you haven't already seen it: ua-cam.com/video/brNC-VaDv-k/v-deo.html
I would love a snythesia lesson on that song 😅
So you're just using the Nefertiti setting with some panning? Any reverb?
Hello @user-ql1pc7pi9x Hmm, I just checked the Synthesia library, and it's not there. In fact, I couldn't find any Doors songs 😢. However, there are examples of people using Synthesia for this song online: ua-cam.com/video/fkgOfNOgxSA/v-deo.html. Maybe you can reach out to one of them and ask for the MIDI? Or, maybe the MIDI is available somewhere online in a way that will work well with Synthesia?
Regarding your question about the reverb, yes, I'm using a "Stage" reverb with the bright setting on and the amount is 5.1 (dry/wet). And I'm using NO effects on the sample whatsoever by the way. The storm sample is from the original recording, but then I did a bunch of stuff to doctor it up with loop and crossfade to make it sound random and natural because, of course, we have very little of the storm that doesn't also have drums, bass and singing on top.
@@MyKeysToMusic Thanks Marc, I'll have a crack at learning it 👍
@@user-ql1pc7pi9x Sounds good! There should be something on UA-cam demonstrating that part too somewhere...
can you accomplish this on the Stage 3 as well?
we do a song "Can't Stand the Rain" by Ann Peeples and it starts with Rain Sound.
Would be nice to use this with that song. Do you use sample section of Synth?
Maybe I need to become a Patron....
@@garyusinger I have "Riders on the Storm" available as we speak for the NS3. I don't, however, have "Can't Stand the Rain." But it could be sampled using the same techniques used for Riders. In fact, I believe I provided some brief explanation of how I sampled the thunder for Riders on that same Patreon video. You can also enroll in my free course called "Master the Nord Sample Editor" and learn how to sample using that course found on my main website.
