Found one on the bank the Sunday before last, my mate told me how to use it and I've caught a few that way, it's my favourite way, theres barely tackle and you watch it all happen. On Saturday I'd heard a couple of slurping sounds and told two kids to dab some bread in the other side of the tree from me, they ignored me so I went round with my float rod 4lb line and an Abu 506 and caught this beautiful black common about 7lb. Everything you said in this video is what my friend told me and you're both spot on.
I have a short litre, and a long litre on the bubble. I vary length of hook depending on depth I am casting. I suppsoe this is where having a sliding option on your bubble is optional and the easiest.
do you think a medium spinning rod (shakespeare beta 20-80g) would be good for brown trout? i would fish a small mepps behind a bubble float with a long 5lb leader, 15lb mainline and a size 4000 reel
bubble floats bring back some memories but I would strongly advise against trapping the bubble on the mainline via 2 split shot as if you have a breakage of the line above that float the poor fish is left tethered to the float. A the safe way would be to thread the float on and attach a bead and then a swivel and tie your hook link onto the swivel so there's nothing above the float like a running ledger rig, if you must use something above the float for a bolt/selfhooking effect then a sliding float stop is far safer as it can be pulled off the line with minimal effort. split shot locking it on equals death rig.
Spot on, Vaseline is ideal. Oily or greasy products help the line float and soapy things help the line sink. Mucilin is probably the most well known line floatant in the UK. Whatever you use, expect to apply several times during a session.
I only use a floating bait in the summer. For the winter the best piece of advice I can give you is find the fish. Once you find the fish, use whatever method that will present a bait where they can find it. Hope this helps.
I'm hand casting, rather than rod casting. As I'm using a floating bait, and the float was attached with a swivel, I have a feeling the bubble float area of the line is heavier than the bait. I'm going to have to experiment with it being lighter, and then heavier.
Been looking around at controller floats and they seem to be way more expensive. You can buy these bubble floats in bulk for a lot cheaper is there any real reason to use a controller?
When fishing at long distance its hard to see the bubble float. I sometines oaint them orange or yellow for extra visibility. I use them because they are way cheaper than controller floats as I often lose them in the lillies.
Split shot either side of the bubble float is a no no. If the line breaks above the float the fish is swimming around with it and it becomes a death rig. I used to put a sliding float stop above the bubble float but stopped after watching a poor carp trailing a float with a stop above the float. I use a free running rig yes I miss some bites but my conscience is clear. I enjoy watching your vids and I have learnt from them but a thumbs down from me.
Love these simple explanations on this channel
Got this chaps rig book which is great too
Thank you for your comments. Best of luck with your fishing.
Simple no frills Angling . Thanks very much . Great video.

Nice informative video. Brilliant!

Always some good pointers mate wetting the bread before you lob it out is a great idea

I like your slingshot feeding idea. Cheers.

I agree, the use of float stops is safer and I do mention them as an alternative in the film. Thanks for your comment Mussellwhite
Very good ✌
Thank you sir.
Hi - What kind of line do you use ? thx
I use Monofilament line. Best of luck with your fishing.
Hello . Please ask what you put on your line between 122 and 130. Thank you !
I used Vaseline, but there are line floatants such as Mucilin available.
Thank you for taking the time to respond !
Use Vaseline to make ur line float as well

hi there thanks for your advice, a quick question, please is this method will work for winter and if not what you suggest for float carp fishing

Nice fish.
thanks good tip!
Nice Video
Hello, What does it mean when the bait/hook and the bubble float spin around while casting? Is one of them not the correct weight?
Sounds like the bubble float is too light.
I'm hand casting, rather than rod casting. As I'm using a floating bait, and the float was attached with a swivel, I have a feeling the bubble float area of the line is heavier than the bait. I'm going to have to experiment with it being lighter, and then heavier.
Sounds like a plan, best of luck.

I have never found a reason to use one.

nice video! Thank you

brilliant thanks
Have you ever used a bubble float for fly fishing?
Can you use these floats for deadbait/livebait?
It's not impossible, but a Pike bung might be better.
Amateur Angling thank you for taking the time to reply! Much appreciated.
👍
Not so great in sea fishing once it bounced off the rocks it splits..
That's why rubber floats are also available, albeit a bit more expensive.
Certainly the most demanding for the old ticker way of fishing. Adrenaline all the way!

For anyone reading this, please try the rig without the rear stop. Best of luck, thanks for your comment shed43a.
How do you set that up, the free running rig?
Carp are a pest in Australia, stinking things.
Good comment Buster, I bet you are a heap of fun after a few scoops!
