My Timex Ironman Triathlons

Just a short video about my three Timex watches. I've owned the beat-up steel case one since around 1998, but the case got so rough from damage that it irritated my wrist. I sought out a replacement and found the better-looking steel case one with the slightly different display, but also got lucky and found the retro "Original 8" plastic case model on clearance. Except for a differently toned mode chime and a lack of "all-day Indiglo," it is functionally identical to the others. While I haven't tried it yet, I'm 95% sure that I could swap modules (aka "movements") between the three.

Timex still makes great watches and I wear an Ironman Triathlon T5K692 daily. I've gone hiking with it and my cousin wears a Timex in her job as a game officer.

I like the look and how slim the vintage ironman is. I do prefer the LCD contrast and larger digits on the current Ironman. The current one is also 200m WR, but that adds to its thickness of almost 15mm. I think the vintage one you have here is no more than 11mm thick. I also hear that the module on the vintage is much more complicated than the current one.

I really like this review, I've watched it about ten times. I think it's because I like the vintage watches that last a long time. I was curious, which watch did you choose to replace the old one? The one with similar buttons or the one with the identical module. Love the Ironman.

Waterproof watches should be rinsed with fresh water after you swan in the ocean to prevent rust

How do I get the beep/chime to work on my old triathlon?

From the Alarm screen, pressing the STOP/START button will toggle the hourly chime; pressing SPLIT/RESET toggles the alarm.
If the sound isn't working at all, take the back of and look closely at the tiny metal tabs that come off the "movement" or "module." They have to touch the metal back without anything insulating them from the metal. Of course, if they're broken off, your watch is permanently muted :-( .

Any idea whether the modules for the 25th Anniversary and the similar model can be swapped? And do you know the model number for either? My 25th Anniversary bit the dust, and the newer display looks great.

R M Same display, same buttons, same battery. They are interchangeable.
Also apparently it's properly referred to as the "movement," which seems odd to me since they're digital not analogue so nothing actually moves.

I doubt the case is stainless steel, if it was I don't think there would be any corrosion.

hey man do those older/reissue models (as discussed ~4 mins in) have multiple timers? e.g. 5 minutes, beep, 1 minute, beep, repeat.

cmalchik Nope. You can set a single repeating timer. But not multiple timers.
