Exactly. The whole expansion is SO MUCH a journey, much more than the game Journey which was acclaimed for being a sort of odyssey, which it was in a small part, but taking this game and comparing really illustrates what a journey and experience is, because of things such as the curse, the environments, the characters and interactivity and the music not least. I had to gag when I heard the write-up for Journey because having MotB changed everything.

    +1 I agree.
The actual spirit hunger mechanic helps you immerse yourself in the curse. It'll literally kill you if you don't feed. People say it's annoying but where would the tension be if the curse wasn't actually there, it'd just be a boring - eat a spirit now - mechanic for no reason. :)
    MotB is digital genius!

You can say what you will about other games, this one is the best of the dark games I have seen surpassing even Planescape:Torment. I have never felt so drawn into a world as when playing this game with it's music, plot, ambiance and characters. Given the fact that this is a 3rd person exploration game, that's quite the statement.

Otherwise it was a great game on the whole, and I guess all things considered I don't really grudge them. The plot was excellent, particularly for MotB, which I think is just outstanding. And as to the hunger aspect, I simply love that part. I don't find that annoying or restrictive, I think it's a really compelling and innovative feature and as I said, I simply love the expansion and how immersive it is! You really feel drawn in, it's quite a journey in my opinion, very enjoyable.

NWN2 OC was good, really. But when compared to MotB you wonder why it wasn't better.

They're both great games. Different kinds of journeys. The OC was a grand adventure from the rise of villager to Knight to save the land from evil(classic high fantasy) where MOTB was a personal journey to save your self and find personal salvation also on a grand scale. It really comes down to preference. I personally LOVE the OC and I like it better than MOTB because I love the classic hero's journey and feel the OC did it better than any other game in the way the story is structured.
MOTB is really better in my opinion in it's production values but that had more to do with the game being on a smaller scale and very minimal publisher interference. Had the OC had the production values and the time to actually finish the game it would be remembered a lot more fondly

@@andrewvincent7299 Finally someone who have same opinion as me on that. Nothing in MOTB is as jaw dropping as whole trial thing from OC, imo. Also people complaining of endings of OC as if MOTB included a grand attack on Wall... sadly it didn't

Isn't MotB the coolest game? First of all it is so dark and even better an expansion for NWN2 which though stunted has great features still.

Well OC REALLY WAS a good game! My whole thing is, NWN2 lost important features from NWN that it just shouldn't have, and the design was a bit annoying in that you are just dropped into combat areas with no escape instead of being able to run free, which were small, all of which made combat for a wizard/caster annoyingly hampered. And then the fact that you can't just import characters with the same ease...
