This is verrrryyyy true. I have very coily type 3c/4c hair. Years ago, i worked in salon where the styliests were predominantly white. Man, those women taught me so much about MY hair. That's where I learned that although my hair texture is different, growing and maintaining the health of my hair is the same as someone with silky straight hair. They forever changed my life. And i dont fall for company's markerting towards curly hair.
I think where it’s important is for styling products. I have yet to use a leave in that is good enough on its own, I get much better results from products with hold, and normal hair gels are typically too strong/heavy and weigh my hair down. And other times it’s just preference. Like I love what the amodimethicone conditioners do for my curls, but they don’t have enough slip, so I usually have to use an awful amount to make it slippy enough to brush my hair.
Dimethicone is Dimethicone. Some have more silicones than others that's all. My hair to me is too fluffy without some Dimethicone in my Conditioner but I love my waves + curls & don't straighten🙏🏼💜🏴💜🇮🇪💜
Hey! I am new to hair care and stuff but I have been following the CGM routine for a year now and my hair looks good following those techniques but I have noticed that my hair doesn't naturally look healthy when I don't put any product on it. I have wavy hair. 2b-2c to be precise. So like I just wanted to know, do you not follow the CGM routine and yet have your curls look defined by just following Abbey's techniques?
I'd like you to showcase the finishing products you use because that is where the shine is coming from. I've seen your hair after it's dried after using your conditioners and it's nothing like the shine in your videos.
@@harrietxo2310 I have watched most of Abbeys videos and only seen what is done before drying. Nothing for after and her hair does not dry as shiny as her "finished" videos.
@@natmya243She rough blow drys instead of blow drying with a brush, then she styles with the curling iron after. That’s why her hair isn’t super smooth/shiny before it’s styled. If you look at the Dyson straightener reviews her hair is shiny after just being dried with no finishing products.
You can’t pry my Redken All Soft Mega out of my fine, thin hair hair/hands. It’s the best. Stuff for fine thin hair never gives enough slip or conditioning!
I did exactly that, Abbey: I stop myself from following all of that curly wherever gurus, I followed you and the results are AMAZING. Thank you for everything you did for me ❤
Hair porosity matters though. Stuff that says it's for thick coarse hair, better not use them for limp fine hair because it's going to be too heavy and will make your hair look drab and flat
Do you think you could do a part 2 of drugstore haircare ranking or recommend some products for non damaged? I always see you recommending products to rebuild the hair but I really dont need that
I have pin-straight hair and have used curly-shampoo and I like them. My hair allways stayed straight though. Just some make it crunchy or stiff. Cantu worked fine for an exsample. I use a shampoo from Fructies, and they stop selling it. But they came out with a curly shampoo, same color cottle (lime green) so I wanted to give it a try. The curly shampoo actually smelled even better and had a good scent. I also got the spray (I think it's like a detangling spray?) that gives me crunch so I might just use a little. I have a problem where many shampoos cause me itchy scalp because I have dry-sensitive skin. And so I currently stick with that Fructis drugstore shampoo brand. My hair likes it. I got the coconut mousture one now. Great. But I don't think the brand is sold outside of Austria and Germany. 😊
Literally me 😭 I had so much damage and I just recently cut 7 in off to start over and follow your routine. Hoping this time next year my curls will come back❤
@@KaraB1353no silicones make her hair very knotted and will damage all her hard work on her hair so that is why she will only use products with silicones.
Hi! I’ve been following you for a while but I’ve never heard you talk about keratin or Botox for the hair. I live in Florida where most people here do some form of these treatments as the humidity is so bad. 6 months ago I stopped as I had a feeling the Botox was actually thinning my hair. Can you please do a video discussing these treatments? Thank you!
I totally agree with you about the hair Botox!! I had really nice long hair unfortunately in the summer months here in Toronto Canada it is very humid 😫 😕 So I decided to have my hair professionally Botoxed. The first time it turned out beautiful and the second time it looked great, but I started to notice alot more hair in my hair brush. The 3rd time I had it Botoxed over a course off every 6 months I ended up having to cut off my hair because it became thin and stringy. In my opinion the only new thing that I was doing was the botox. Long story short "literally 😂😂 No More Hair Botox for me.
@@kirsteneagleson2965 yes!! Im right there with you. I’d love for her to talk about it bc they market it as “healthy” for your hair but I don’t believe it anymore. I write these comments in her videos to try to get her to notice them one day. Thanks for your response!
Yes and no: You both may have hair damage, so you will both benefit from repair and nourishment. Curls don't matter. Yes, it's true that brands produce many more product varieties than necessary. But you need to know if your hair is fine, medium or thick. Fine hair can accept less repairing product before ita weighted down. Same with oil: most oils will make healthy, natural, blond hair look greasy.
My hair on top layer is so frizzy sometimes I just have to take moose and run it down the side of my hair till it dry and then count it out. I wish we had a hair place here like they do in South Korea!
The end result is how I want my hair to be but in reality only some (2/6) of my hair curls, a lot of it is wavy (3/6), and then at the under pieces and some strands all over are completely straight (1/6) and it honestly makes me hate my curly hair
I would def watch her full-length videos for an answer to this, she recommends SO MANY, but she also shows a lot of drug store brands, so there's a good variety :)
I have straight hair and no product has worked better than Marc Anthony strictly curls conditioner. Recommend it to my sister and she has pin straight hair Thant tangles. She messaged me randomly one day thanking me for suggesting this conditioner to her cause it have her results. She also uses neutrogena tsal shampoo. Highly recommend.
I went to an ulta I wasn’t familiar with to buy a redkin shampoo you had recommended & so I asked an associate there for help in locating it. She ended up asking me why I was buying that specific one when I should be using something else due to my hair type and because redkin only caters to those with colored hair? She then offered an entirely differently brand and product but I still went with Abbeys choice. I have no regrets. It works.
I have wavy hair and I hugely disagree. For some reason porosity is ignored in a lot of these recommendations. I also find that there are some specific products that just make my curls come out like no others. I agree that it does not necessarily have to be products directed at curly hair but I think that's saying your hair recommendations can work for people with curly or wavy hair is a bit of a stretch as a blanket statement
I have no idea what my hair porosity is yet I have achieved relatively healthy looking hair the last year or so. 🤷🏻♀️Even with heat styling. I have minimal breakage, no thinning ends or splits and grew my hair from being just 2-3 inches below the shoulder to now being bra strap/waist length. Not saying porosity isn’t important. But you have to navigate that on your own. And her advice is by no means bad or specific to one hair type. In fact, anyone that’s been in the hair care space for awhile knows that she gives pretty general recommendations and advice, and she’s a trichologist so it’s professional based at least. I don’t use the coconut oil she recommends because it does nothing for my hair. But hair oiling in general is something I do and like she said, it transforms hair. I’ve used the lamellar water, the Loreal conditioners, the double shampoo, the application of leave ins…etc. and my 2c hair is looking better than ever, again, minimal damage even with weekly heat styling. Majority of hair products wether they are for straight or textured hair have relatively similar ingredients anyways.
I have (fine) wavy hair too and it's so difficult for me to find products that don't weigh it down or make it greasy at the roots. Can I ask what products you use?
@missl.3343 I found the OGX curl leave in cream (teal) was hands down one of the best treatments for air drying and beautiful waves. I also think Not Your Mother's leave in makes my hair insanely healthy looking but no weight down (even use it on my 3yo daughter who has curly fine hair and no issues). For hair oil, davines Oi oil is a great finisher but this can weigh down if too much. For hair treatment I like the pureology gloss (the one you leave in after shampoo then wash out) and Bondi boost serum after towel dry for super soft waves and no frizz
I went out and bought the new Dove bond strength shampoo and conditioner. It’s been a long time since trying drugstore products and I’m nervous. 😂 Has anyone used it? Will this destroy my hair?
You don’t know what you’re talking about honestly😂 the first picture is the same girl with straightened hair. Also, your hair type is very important when choosing products based on the results you’re trying to achieve. Is your hair straight, wavy or curly, do you want volume this day or not, is your hair low, medium or high poriosity? All those things matter.
Hair type means nothing. My hair loves certain ingredients! And loves thick conditioners even though it is fine to medium but the high porosity need it
I suspect that how we got to that point is because even though 99% of the world population has curly hair, straight hair has been the standard and hair science and hairdressing is strictly marketed towards. These things have improved over the years but there's still more work to do for the other 99% of us who don't have straight hair.
I have curly hair (3b) and I approve this message! Hair is hair, and the same principles apply- be gentle, condition, protect.
