After being in the watch hobby now for a couple years, I can confidently say lume works for a couple hours. Maybe a few tops. My black bay 58 does ok. But it’s lume so it fades.
If you want a watch that gives you actual full capability around clock, it needs to be tritium.
This is a great offering. My dad beats his up, wears it 24/7 as it’s his only watch, and it still looks fairly new, and its been at +7 seconds per day for 7 years now. Tritium still looks the exact same it did 7 years ago.
love this watch
Great review. Since this is a actual military-spec diver, they would not want to cut into the “3” so they put the date at 4:30. I also heard the black on white Date is easier to see in actual use.
I wish I knew about these back in the day when I lost 3 or 4 watches in the field to rough use.
Wondering how the finish has held up on this watch 3yrs later. And ya they should’ve went with a black date wheel with red numbers, low key n outta sight if you’re not looking at it
such a cool watch
I've dilemma between this one and the MSAR. I've a 6"2 inch wrist for everyday purposes. Help!
I'm just afraid this one will look like a hockey puck on the wrist.
6.2 is a small wrist. Really depends on how you wear watches. If you don’t want something oversized on your wrist I would look at the Msar. We have a video on that as well that was published just a few months ago.
PVD or DLC, it's still a great watch!
I'd like to see a black JSAR in 44
I think it's a great watch Don, but honestly, what do you think of the price? Seems a little excessive to me. I bought one of the originals 10 years ago for $450!!!
Max Levine well, 10 years ago a Rolex Sub wasn’t $7500 either. Swiss movements are more expensive and only Marathon knows their production costs and profit.
WatchReport.com actually, 10 years ago a Sub cost right around $7500, today they're over $9k 😉
How well does the coating hold up? It would look great on a tan/black/or orange seatbelt nato
Should hold up well, but remember it’s a coating and any coating can and will eventually come off
WatchReport.com have you tried it on some nato straps? Would look pretty good
No, I do no wear natos.
Awesome watch, I’m in the military but this thing is too expensive. GShock and Timex Ironman for the win. I rarely see anyone wearing analog let alone automatics.
This is going to look awesome on a NATO strap.
It does.
GSAR... not G"ZAR"! Love your videos but that was kind of annoying.
I always thought the GSAR was quartz. I might have to look at these now.
Rich Dubbya The TSAR is quartz. GSAR is automatic. You'll notice the GSAR is a few hundred dollars more than the TSAR because of the movement. Dimensions are the same.
This watch should be 300-500$ at most. I'm in the military and everyone wears a gshock, timex, or smartwatch. 6 out of 7 military divers I met had a digital watch, and everything is tracked by computers/radio communications topside. Really cool watch though, I would get one but price is too high for what you get. At one point these watches were issued hence the National Stock Number... but those days are long gone and you have to buy your own watch and putting the NSN is just a selling point.
So what was the 7th diver wearing?
Seriously, man! It’s “Search and Rescue”, not Zearch! Listening to you saying G-ZAR so many times just hurt my ears. Other than that - good review! Waiting for mine to arrive to see if I feel the same about the lack of AR coating. Never had this problem with my SAR and GSAR. Cheers!
Pip, Pip..Love this watch but too rich if you can get the non black for half price. And Tridium is awesome. Who cares about the half life. Other watches half way through the night are dark. I'd rather have a watch I can see for 20 years at night. The watch will likely be scrap before that anyway....Horgh.
Apparently its a GZAR
Maybe it’s a Zsa Zsa Gabor
Save your money people get a $40at Walmart I bet the G-Shocks tougher I never heard of a marathon tough test are they worth the hype all the mtm marathon traser lumenox . Who where are those watches in military Four Star General 🤔 soldiers where g shocks rich people don't send their to war 😁
