For my music homework I had to map out the structure of a song - I chose this one. I handed it to my teacher and he asked to see me at break. I was nervous - he's the vice principal of the school - but I went anyway. He seemed really happy and I was soo confused. All he said to me was "What a brilliant music taste you have!" and asked me to leave. BEST. TEACHER. EVER.
BoxesOfFoxes holy crud I’d be lucky to have that kinda teacher. I don’t have a music teacher this school I’m going to. My last school I had one who if you did one small thing you’d go to the corner. Stinks. Next year is my last school year since it goes to 8’th grade. I might have one then.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in Apr 2020, and whenever this song or any other we used to listen to together comes on, it's like he's speaking to me and reminding me to keep going on although he isn't here with me anymore and it hurts so bad.

Never really had an emo phase, let alone the fact that this song wasn’t around when I was in high school and I didn’t really hear it until like last year, but it has such a profound effect on me when I hear it and I adore it. Such an amazing song. There is no time limit on hearing a song for the first time and being affected by it.
I’ve never heard this before but here we are EDIT: This song is so powerful. The seasonal depression is starting to kick in, and for some reason a song about death is what makes me wanna keep fighting it.
Im 6 months late but, have you ever listened to the full album? It’s a rock opera that tells a powerful story about a man dying of cancer and how he learns to accept his fate. I’d recommend giving the Black Parade album a listen.
I feel greatly disappointed to not have found this song sooner, I found it yesterday, and it's already been here for ten years. Now I'm already obsessed and can't stop spamming the replay button. Oh well. Make 2019 emo again!

When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" He said, "Will you defeat them? Your demons, and all the non-believers The plans that they have made?" "Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom To lead you in the summer To join the black parade" When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The beaten and the damned?" Sometimes I get the feelin' She's watchin' over me And other times I feel like I should go And through it all, the rise and fall The bodies in the streets And when you're gone, we want you all to know We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And in my heart, I can't contain it The anthem won't explain it A world that sends you reelin' From decimated dreams Your misery and hate will kill us all So paint it black and take it back Let's shout it loud and clear Defiant to the end, we hear the call To carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on We'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches On and on, we carry through the fears Oh, ah, ha Disappointed faces of your peers Oh, ah, ha Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's who we are Just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy, who had to sing this song Just a man, I'm not a hero I don't care We'll carry on, we'll carry on And though you're dead and gone, believe me Your memory will carry on You'll carry on And though you're broken and defeated Your weary widow marches, oh Do or die, you'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Go and try, you'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on) Do or die, you'll never make me (we'll carry on) Because the world will never take my heart (we'll carry on) Go and try, you'll never break me (we'll carry on) We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on).
Totally unrelated but I was at Dan and Phil's tour last month and this song was play at before it all started. The entire arena was singing along with the music, including me and it was such a surreal experience and I haven't stopped smiling since. Not just because of the feeling of an entire arena singing together but because of Dan and Phil actually being right if I front of me and not just through a computer screen. Okay rant done. Such a good song 😍
The same happened to me. The whole crowd started screaming, myself included. That was one of the best days of my life. I'll never forget the feeling of singing with hundreds of people just like me and seeing my two idols in real life.

This song as a pep band song.
And I have a story:
So, during marching band season, the marching band doubles as the Pep band as well (which adds fantastic irony to this song). But, a couple days ago, we as the pep band went to a hockey game, right? And we hear the director:
"Welcome to the black parade!"
And so we pull out the music, and we wait.
Our director has the habit of selecting *one* flute to stand up and play the intro. He looks at us, and points to me.
So I stand, and head up to the balcony above. It's quite as I get to a position maybe twenty feet from the rest of the band. He counts off, and I play that first note.
At least five people turned and stood abruptly.
And the rest of the band joined in later.
But seeing the looking on their faces as a random flute plays this song from the balcony...and then a marching band joining in later from the bleachers down the way.
One person cried.
It was great.
That sounds awesome
This is definetely not true lmao. Most people at a hockey game probs wouldnt care abt some tween emo metal song lol

*I soon found out she went through the same phase most people here did*

Never really had an emo phase, let alone the fact that this song wasn’t around when I was in high school and I didn’t really hear it until like last year, but it has such a profound effect on me when I hear it and I adore it. Such an amazing song. There is no time limit on hearing a song for the first time and being affected by it.
Play this at my funeral
Robs36 Gaming - Minecraft And More! okay

Me, who has never been emo: WHEN I WAS, A YOUNG-
I’ve never heard this before but here we are
EDIT: This song is so powerful.
When I was
A young girl
My father
Took me into the city
And said HOLY SHIT PETTY BOO NOBDY ASKED YOU
I feel greatly disappointed to not have found this song sooner, I found it yesterday, and it's already been here for ten years. Now I'm already obsessed and can't stop spamming the replay button.
Oh well. Make 2019 emo again!
I literally head this song yesterday as well..........l also have replayed it so many times l know most of the lyrics
I had to Sing the anthem and stared to sing this I was suspended
Queen Potato Aaaaaaaaaand you are officially my new favorite person in this comment section
You shouldn't have been suspended, This is the Emo National Anthem.
emo anthem

Queen Potato dude I did the same shit and my teacher was like get out of my class room and go to the office and when the asked what I did and said I was singing MCR . Mrs Emily the lady who works in the office at my school started playing this and sung it with me best teacher ever

When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band
He said, "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"
He said, "Will you defeat them?
Your demons, and all the non-believers
The plans that they have made?"
"Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom
To lead you in the summer
To join the black parade"
When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band
He said, "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"
Sometimes I get the feelin'
She's watchin' over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall
The bodies in the streets
And when you're gone, we want you all to know
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart, I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it
A world that sends you reelin'
From decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end, we hear the call
To carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches
On and on, we carry through the fears
Oh, ah, ha
Disappointed faces of your peers
Oh, ah, ha
Take a look at me, 'cause I could not care at all
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scars
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
Just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
Just a man, I'm not a hero
I don't care
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches, oh
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on)
Do or die, you'll never make me (we'll carry on)
Because the world will never take my heart (we'll carry on)
Go and try, you'll never break me (we'll carry on)
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on).
THANK YOU!
It’s nearly been 5 years since they disbanded.
Also, I want this played at my funeral.
This is a really awesome song and so addictive. I was singing it for a whole week after hearing it. I wish they were still together

Such a good song 😍
same omg im gonna cry
The same happened to me. The whole crowd started screaming, myself included. That was one of the best days of my life. I'll never forget the feeling of singing with hundreds of people just like me and seeing my two idols in real life.
