    My father served with the HERD in vietnam. he has told me a few of his stories but until i serve myself he will not tell me some. he did tell me that a child can act in a hostile way as an adult. When you are looking at a barrel pointed at you you dont care who it is pointing it, you just that you get your round off before they get theirs'. thank you very much for serving. "All the way"

    Thank you and I apologize for coming off so harshly. I have lost too many good brothers over there. My Father served with 173rd in Vietnam and often spoke of the travesty that is "collateral Damage". It hurts me as well when the innocent pay for others sins.

    32 weeks total. US Marine training is 12 weeks of basic, followed by 8 weeks of SOI. So that's 20 weeks right there. And that's just for the average infantry. Throw in the elite schools like Ranger, Recon, Scout Sniper, Combat Diving, Fleet Anti-Terrorism, Airborne, etc... and you have truly elite Marines capable of conducting Special Operations and supporting them. So once again, we've got what you've got, but more of them.

    @CaptainAmerica322 The Royal navy was Britain back bone of the empire, its was the empire. Britain`s navy is second in the world for sea control and dominant power over the waves to the US, even though we have small naval force compared to the US, China and Russia, yet we still are able to cover so much area, the RN is a blue water navy, along with US and the French, we still carry the empire spirit, we still carry the standards that reach royal approval, same with the British infantry.

    I agree with what you are saying. It's a VERY difficult task we have ahead of us. But I don't think you understand. Every Afghan killed by foreign troops outweighs a thousand Afghans killed by Militants. There is a serious complacency in the targeting of airstrikes by coalition forces to the point where almost as many Afghans have been killed by our airstrikes as by militant actions. We are losing this war, and it's because we run around like john wayne.

    You have your RMC's, we have our Recon, Force Recon, and MarSOC. Those are our Marine Commandos. Even with those cutbacks, we still drastically outnumber you, and while we are having cutbacks, our SMA is upping the standards for all soldiers, including more strenuous physical standards, and more focus on individual proficiency. Still stronger, still better. The US Military, best in the world.

    @CaptainAmerica322 Britain only really started its mission in Afghan in 2006, just as TaskforceBlack were killing 3500 insurgent in Iraq, Britain had to control a land the size of England with 1000 men, Britain started taking the towns and handing them over to the USMC to then go onto other missions like safe guarding roads that we need to win the war and taking area`s that the Taliban need for strong holds, British Black watch cleared the last main strong holds from the Taliban in Helmand.

  • @USN1985dos
    @USN1985dos 12 років тому

    For one, we did more than hide in our bases while we were in Iraq, unlike the British. We were also in the most violent areas, inlcuinding the Triangle of Death. The one thing that these wars have proven is that the British Army is too small to have any significant impact in the world today.

    Im not brainwashed at all, I know people in the forces who have served all over the world also Iraq and Afghanistan, Royal marines in an area of Helmand have made an area safe and in the last 6 months not one shot has been fired from both sides, with CIMIC-house in Al Amarah, around 100 British soldiers spent 23 days with limited food, water and ammo, they were up against more than 500 Mahdi Army, the British killed 200+ and only lost 1 soldier.

  • @Elitepoosniff
    @Elitepoosniff 12 років тому

    The Mahdi army fired 595 mortar rounds, from 230 different bombardments also 57 rocket-propelled grenades and six 107 mm rockets plus 86 ground assaults on CIMIC. Your telling me that`s something? 4,487 U.S serviceman dies in Iraq, and almost 2k in Afghan...

    If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump it's ass everytime it jumped. If you were the world's best, you might have a point, but you don't. You have great, and we have great. We just have a significantly higher number of great than you. BTW, there are always factors that go into helping those "small number" victors. Usually home turf, a sympathetic civilian population, backing by another super-power, and other things have helped them to win. it isn't just their skill.

    Look at populations... has everything to do with the size of most things, you go on about size being everything, when its always the small groups of the worlds best who come out on top of the rest, Britain does not have regular marines, if it did the armed forces would be bigger, if the defence budget was set to just under 100 Billion if would be bigger.

    FYI, the taliban are not outsiders, they are mostly trible people from the same area. When it comes to fighting they won't fight in their own turf, because they know if they fight, the US would bomb the whole village. So, the only way they would fight is on their own term, and somewhere remote from their village

  • @Elitepoosniff
    @Elitepoosniff 12 років тому

    Both Iraq and Afghan are US wars with NATO and ISAF backing meaning members have to send out troops, Britain has 10k in helmand province doing an amazing job, the facts are Britain has the best infantry, but its the politics of the nations that are behind those troops being out there that changes, the troops can only do what they can with the kit they get given from back home, the USMC is nothing against the RM by the way, the US is having 500 Billion taken away, 20k marines and 100k+ soldiers.

    "War on terrorism" iraq wasnt a hub for terrorists until AFTER the united states invaded. So what he meant was they're on the front lines of the war on themselves?

    • @filipselakovic9768

      Evidently this uppity and childish idiot couldn't read the description of the above video, which mentions that this was a recording of the 173rd Airborne Brigade operating in Afghanistan. They did operate in Iraq as well, and performed a combat jump there during the invasion. And the Iraqi government under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein was a major finacial supporter of foreign terrorism, since the 1980s, in addition to murdering a million or so of its own people. Including the murders of hundreds of thousands of Kurds and Shia Muslims, plus hundreds of thousands of 'opponents' to the regime. Saddam and the male members of his clan also used to abduct, torture, rape, and murder random civilians who had crossed them in some way. Saddam and his brother Ali did use poison gas - a Weapon of Mass Destruction - to murder more than a hundred thousand Kurds. Saddam did try to annex Kuwait to get a chokehold on the Middle Eastern oil supply, and he ordered mass murders there as well, along with murderous attacks on Saudi Arabia and its civilians. And he was overseeing attempts to develope nuclear reactors and weapons, right up until the American invasion. I hope you got around to reading at least one history book in the last few years.

    All of those are biased opinions, not facts. Yes, your Royal Marines are top notch and second to none. However, Our Army is MUCH larger than yours, and theres nothing to say yours is better trained. As for the best Navy in the world. I'm sorry, but there is NO argument that the USN is the biggest, and baddest.

    And also. If your forces were so great, you would have been able to pacify Basra instead of holding onto it just long enough, then retreating out of Iraq. You also would have pacified Helmand province in the last 5 years. But guess what. You haven't, because your troops are no better than anyone else's.

    The USA Armed Forces has the ultimate capability to plan and attack an air or ground combat war, or dispatch for rescue and humanitarian relief. The British Army is not the best in the world for the mere fact that they could not defend nor protect their own country during the Second World War as they had to call on the Russians and Americans for help.
    God Bless America

    Which we did by ruling and invading their country. Justified or not, the way we're handling this war is terrible. Like I said before, running around like a cowboy is great and all, but is very detrimental to the goals we are trying to accomplish.
    Ironically US presence in the middle east was specifically for rooting out terrorism, but has instead caused a ten fold increase in terrorism. The reason so many people are dying is because we unified the enemies of the united states under one banner.

  • @Elitepoosniff
    @Elitepoosniff 12 років тому

    Not true, British infantry is about 100k strong of the best infantry in the world, its the people who send them out to places like Iraq without anything to use to work with, in Afghan 1,000 British soldiers in 2008 had the job of trying to control an area the size of England, because of the Government at the time people were killed due to being over stretched, the Taliban are good at what they do, and enemy you don`t want.

  • @CaptainAmerica322
    @CaptainAmerica322 15 років тому

    Seeing as none of the guys in that US Apache murder video actually had guns as most people who say they saw guns are American and have seen the video that`s been past through the internet and is not clear like the Original video which is the one I saw where there was no armed men, they were carrying camera`s and kit not AK, and so what if they were, its there right as humans to fight against America as you were in there lands taking there oil... fact is 1.5 Million Iraqis died because of the US.

  • @Elitepoosniff
    @Elitepoosniff 13 років тому

    @uhrdavid The US army is not professional nor are the marines, how many civilians were killed in Iraq ? Hmmmmm some were even executed on the spot . . . Helmand province and Kandahar province are the most dangerous places in Afghanistan, they were at the start of the war and they still are now, British troops were the first to be sent into Helmand, my uncle is a high ranked officer in the British army . . . and your telling me im wrong.

    So you're proud of the fact that your logistics are so pathetic that you left a small number of soldiers, unsupplied, in a hostile area for 23 days? As if we didn't already know that you sucked, you throw out something like that. American forces have faced similar odds. There's nothing special about hunkering down and fighting for your life. American forces did it on a regular basis, but we also had the good sense to do more than just fight for survival. We eliminated our enemies.

    @USN1985dos 12 років тому

    Yeah, your whole Army is almost the size of our Marine Corps, and trust me, our Marines are far better trained, equipped, and motivated than your Army. Now throw in the 1,129,000 soldiers in our Army, and we are truly a force to be reckoned with. We've performed as good or better than your forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan, so you can stop with the whole "we're better trained" BS.
