My nephew got out of the Army 5 years ago, he was never deployed and he was glad he didn’t because he said leadership was a total shit show. Every single time he came home all he did was say how much he hated to go back, he said almost every day nobody knew what they were doing and leadership was confused about everything. I feel for you guys who had to endure this massive struggle. Thank you for all you did over there.
He’s right sadly. I was a terrible peacetime leader and I know that now that I’m older. I had don’t 6 deployments, with 3 of them being rough, and never deployed again after 2010, and 2011-2015 I was a complete wreck. Medically retired in 15
So fucked up our own country left them out to dry like that😢 God bless all the men who have fought and lost their lives and the ones who came home after witnessing some horrific shit. ❤ This was a powerful episode. Ur doing great work with these videos.
Darren Shadix wrote a book called "To Quell the Korengal". He was in 173rd Airborne Battle Company during this time and ended his book with the Battle of Wanat. I would've never known about the sacrifices of these men if not for his book. Highly recommend it. I will be remembering the families of these soldiers on the upcoming anniversary of the battle.
Sebastian Junger once mentioned that the soldiers of Battle Co said OP Restrepo "won't be a Ranch House". It's a miracle no Americans died but the taliban breached the hescos, one guy hiding under the collapsed tower. Then Aranas happened which I think it was Brostroms first mission to recover those bodies. These boys went through hell, and it's really not fair that all of them don't get the recognition they deserve, Brostrom for one should have received the MoH.
@@saucejohnson9862 well said sir. General Schloesser officially put Brostrom in for the MoH supported by the Sec of Army. The Batt & Brigade commanders declined it, awarding Pitts. Several men on the ground wrote & supported the MoH for Brostrom. It stalled because of Gen Milley and the commanders. Schloesser & Milley were the two 1 star generals in charge of OEF VIII. Brostrom & Phillips both deserve the MoH for their actions according to many at Wanat It’s simple to understand why the MoH was not given to Brostrom, because the Army needed an escape goat because no leadership wanted to take responsibility. I stand to correct it, as I finally had the chance to set down with one of the sr leaders of Wanat who has been in seclusion for many years. Stay tuned. Thank you sir for watching. V/R
I will never forget this for as long as I live. I will always remember all the ones lost in this battle . And the ones who fought like hell to keep those dirty sob’s at bay.
When i got to the 173rd there was still a few of the oef 8 guys there and they showed us so much through their experiences. There was so much hazing but it was all for a good reason.

A well known fact among “boots on the ground” and some of the public…This place was surrounded 360, the cop looked down upon from extreme elevation by enemy forces. Top F’d this up, somewhere along the chain of command. I know…”arm chair quarterbacking”, yet with experience losing loved ones to the GWOT.
Medically retired in 15
Thank you
So fucked up our own country left them out to dry like that😢 God bless all the men who have fought and lost their lives and the ones who came home after witnessing some horrific shit. ❤ This was a powerful episode. Ur doing great work with these videos.
Thank you 🙏
Thx for sharing this. God speed

Thank you sir
Brostrom & Phillips both deserve the MoH for their actions according to many at Wanat
It’s simple to understand why the MoH was not given to Brostrom, because the Army needed an escape goat because no leadership wanted to take responsibility.
I stand to correct it, as I finally had the chance to set down with one of the sr leaders of Wanat who has been in seclusion for many years.
Stay tuned.
Thank you sir for watching.

To be sure, we are awaiting the next video with reverence and pride. To the Chosen Few, hoorah!

I will never forget this for as long as I live. I will always remember all the ones lost in this battle . And the ones who fought like hell to keep those dirty sob’s at bay.
Thank you sir
When i got to the 173rd there was still a few of the oef 8 guys there and they showed us so much through their experiences. There was so much hazing but it was all for a good reason.
Thank you sir ❤
How is Scantlin? I think about him often after the original documentary
He’s good. Maybe he’ll respond to you.
So interesting the comment i left and spent alot of time on exposing how this was a major failure from the brass and the fact of how my squad leader knew as did everyone what was going to transpire was taken down. Someone even responded to it the first night and now the comment is gone haha Good job You tube you are motivating me even more to write a book and expose even more. I should dedicate it to you tube for trying to silence someone who served this country
Hi sir. I’ve had a few taken down as I’m the only admin and who founded the group in honor of my son kia Wanat. Started a little while back on things getting squirly. A soldier here sent me this. May be some kind of explanation but there’s no way to know. All due respect to the battalion commander of Wanat, Ostlund.

We replaced chosen in wardak in 2010 at cop garda and they had a memorial to all the guys. We left it and looked at it everyday to pay respect. It was a list of names from wanat and the whole kunar deployment. I was 10th mnt but made some good friends from 173rd during our rip. Repect brothers, thats all i can say.

Yessir. Stay strong sir
Ultimately for these young men who sacrificed all, gave all and still carry it all. I can only hope these men find the peace they so need & deserve. Thank you.
Thank you sir.
I remeber Scantlin saying Hovader was the worst. Worse than Garcia being blown on half? Thats hard to imagine. Warriors. Every single one of em.

Was he in Fallujah too? At restrepo?
Infuriating hearing about the rifles being taken after all that…. Mind boggling
I was a knowbody in a place serving for somebody. Man that hit hard
I can't imagine seeing your best friends laying all over in pieces....
The situation with Sgt Garcia really got to me. They should be allowed to put them out when they are in a condition like that. There is absolutely no reason someone laying there in that condition should have to sit there and suffer....
These men deserve much more from their country and its leaders who send them out on missions like this, as if they are robots and expendable.

Is this based on that netflix movie the outpost?
Not at all. Keating happen over a year later. Similar but not even close to being the same.
