This is cool to see!!! My 5th gen made 410whp with headers and cai no tune. Then i did a stage 3 btr cam kit muffler delete and ati super damper and a tune and it made 476 whp. The car is manual so i probably wont see those numbers but if im in the 11s anywhere il be pumped. Cool vid bud keep up the good work.
Awesome video. I have a 5th gen and really appreciate what you did with all your testing. Made life easier. You will love the stall. I have a circle d 3200 and love it.
I saw the horsepower numbers before cams and was extremely shocked/disappointed. I thought 5th gens made 400whp at the least. But I was thoroughly impressed with qtr mile times. Shooting for 12's this year n/a in my 03 2v
Manual 5th gens dyno more. Plus the dyno i was at is known to dyno 5-10% lower than normal. Dynos are deceiving but i was happy with the quarter mile times
Also, 5th gen autos are 400 crank. When my 5th Gen was stock, (factoring in auto drivetrain lost) mines baselined 347 rwhp. I added Longtube headers tune, Roto Fab CAI, Borla Atak Catback, and got to 374 rwhp on a Mustang Dyno. I Can’t wait to do the 3600 stall, Ls3 Conversion w/custom grind cam, and port the heads. Hopefully looking to gain somewhere between 75-90 rwhp
Yes DOD delete for sure. From the factory half the lifters are made to use a spring mechanism to shut off half the cylinders for mpgs. These lifters are prone to failure and cant handle high lift cams. Afm is just a cylinder shutoff you can disable in the tune
I would have been nervous seeing how forward the tires are on the drum...I watched one squat that far forward and catch and pull the underside apart. Awesome runs however..
@@The1st60ft in this year camaro what would you recommend to get better traction in the 1/4 mile for upgrades? Mine should have about 480 rwhp and at least 450 rwtq after my tune.
Also, is 1.7 60' good for these cars? I get ragged on in the new edge group bc I should be pulling 1.8/1.7 with less then 300hp. Just getting some comparisons. The camaro sounds amazing though.
Its good for stock converter and No power adder. Its hard to pull a good 60ft with so much weight. Zl1 5th gens are 1.6 60ft with much more power on stock converter
I have a 2010 Bumblebee SS LS3 I want to cam suggestions I currently have no cats x pipe no mufflers BBK Cia and I've beat a few 5.0s still stock tuned I was thinking tuner next . I live near a summit.
I got tuned over at GPI with my normal 20" tires, would I still be able to toss on my welds with a 26" for the track? Or do I need a whole new tune while on 26's for it to truly improve my 1/4 times.
I think if you threw shorter tires on it it may short shift a little early because it's rotating faster than it thinks. It still may pick up some time. Because 26s are so much lighter. Say it was tuned for 26" tire however, it probably would do the opposite and hit rev limiter on a taller tire just for example.
@@The1st60ft nice man! I’m actually on my way to pick up a 2015 2ss as we speak! excited man going from ls1 corvette c5 to a l99. 2021 go big or go home lol
Absolutely, depending on the tune of course. I have the GPI LS3 SS1 in mine (LS3 swapped L99 car, GPI Tuned) and even with the stock convertor it's not horrible. Yeah she pushes through the brakes and shakes at idle like crazy but that's part of the fun. The LS3 SS1 cam is a little higher lift/duration than the VVT counterpart so the SS1 VVT should be fine to daily. Next up for me is 4K stall and 3.91s. These videos get me psyched to get her ready for the track. Low 11's in a cam only 5th gen is sick!
@@InFiD3ViL1 What kind of power did I put down? Does swapping over to an LS3 really make a big power difference ? I like the idea of having a higher lift/dur but know that VVT powerband is pretty great.
@@Ryshann I haven't had it on the dyno. My tuner is also the person who helped configure that cam grind. He said that he usually sees around 460-470 rwhp with similar specs to my build. As for the advantages of the LS3 over the L99? Not much really, and definitely not a big power difference. The LS3 has hollow intake valves that can rev a little bit higher while remaining stable and has flat top pistons for a slightly higher static compression ratio of 10.7 vs 10.3 for the L99. My small head mill should have me very close to 11:1 CR. Of course the LS3 doesn't have any of the AFM crap to start with so the swap was a bit easier as well. To be perfectly honest with you, the little bit of extra power you get from the LS3 is likely made up for with the L99's VVT. The big factor on my build is the fact that I am still behind that 6L80e, which is why I am still right around the same power levels of a cammed L99. But of course I won't know exact numbers until I hit the dyno. I wasn't set on the LS3 for any specific reason. When I was searching for engines I just happened to come across a great deal on the LS3.
